Chris decided to redo it. He was unsatisfied with the figure as it was previewed. I have no idea what the new version looks like.

Just curious to know what happened to this chap whose image I stumbled across when I accessed the Mithril Miniatures Face Book page. Did this figure ever get released? I saw it mentioned on the MM FB page on my phone (dated 24 June 2022) along with MZ 708, MZ709, MZ711, but it doesn't appear on the Mithril Website, nor in MMP. This may have been mentioned in a thread somewhere that I have missed, but just curious

I too was a bit perplex when it was said it is not canon... Indeed they are but then I suppose it was meant to say they are outside Middle Earth Enterprises licencing scope (which then is understandable)

While this is late, there was no use in debating this earlier.
>The Stonefoots unfortunately are not canon
The history of Middle Earth - Vol 12 - The Peoples of Middle-Earth Published by Christoper Tolkien 1996. p303: "The other two places were eastward, at distances as great or greater than that between the Blue Mountains and Gundabad: the arising of the Ironfists and Stiffbeards, and that of the Blacklocks and Stonefoots."
It may be out of the scope of your license, but the name was given by Tolkien, though never released until the late publication by his son.
So "Stonefoot" are canon.
But I can just ommit the name when I resuggest it. That there were Dwarven tribes living to the East is mentioned in Hobbit and LoTR.

'Glorfindel at the council of Elrond' clearly won the first round but the second idea 'Déorwine of Rohan' only lost out by 2 votes and there are plenty of undecided voters out there. I always recommend everyone vote as it can change what we make and only takes less than a minute of your time.
You have one vote, use it before April 2nd UTC+1.

Haradhrim/Easterling Soldier at Osgiliath (as described by Boromir at The Council of Elrond)
I see this as a complimentary figure to the recent Boromir at Osgiliath figure. At the Council of Elrond, Boromir recounted this battle as a sudden attack in which the men of Gondor were outnumbered by the forces of Mordor with their allies, the Easterlings and Haradrim. However, he attributed Gondor's defeat to a power that had not been felt before, issuing from a great black horseman.
The figure would be in an attacking or parrying pose so that it could be set against Boromir, armed with a scimitar or an axe, possibly with one foot on a stairway giving the impression that Boromir is above.

Greetings, my first suggestion is for Luthien dancing, but I don't think that is allowed? So I would like to suggest Elf Maiden Dancing The maiden with long hair entwined with flowers and a flowy dress would be in a twirling position on a base of flowers. Visions of the tale of Tinúviel should come to mind when viewing the figure. Not to sway anyone but this figure would make my fiance very happy on our wedding day!

Hi! I would like to propose the idea Mithrandir, as just a single standing figure. I think although there are a lot of different renditions of Gandalf in the Mithril line, there are not so many of Mithrandir; I know one was produced not so long ago but it was on a horse, and there's also LT01 "Gandalf on Shadowfax" that could count as one but it's also on a horse.
Maybe a good idea for the statue itself would be the moment when Mithrandir reveals himself to Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli; with a staff in the hand and his hood pulled back.

Try and try again...
Wainrider man with whip
The appendices mentioned incursions of the Wainriders in Gondor from 1851 TA, for almost a century. The appendices A mentionned that the Wainriders were a people, or confederacy, of Men from the East. They journeyed in great wagons, and their chieftains rode chariots in battle. In the Unfinished Tales, "Cirion and Eorl and the Friendship of Gondor and Rohan", it states that they camped in fortified camps of wagons. Their young women were also trained in arms, and they, along with old men and youths, stayed behind, able to defend their homes from attackers. The MZ670 Wainrider girl mounted is the very first miniature representing this people (2018 December votes). To complete, I propose another Gypsy member : a man this time. He is bearded and has long hair. His head could be covered with a bandana tied behind and he could wear a thick leather bolero, a wide fabric belt and boots. He could be armed with a whip that he wields in front of him and have a short scimitar passed through the belt.

King Elessar ( Aragorn) in royal garments holding up his infant son Eldarion (2 - 4 years old)
suggestion is a single figure of the returned King with his little firstborn son, holding the child on his arms or with both hands over his head, face to face, both laughing Connection of the figures almost like MS459 his mother Gilraen fleeing to Imladris with infant Aragorn, which counted as a single piece.

15 votes from the final last month is not a basis for pessimism... so this month I am repeating the suggestion!
Déorwine the Chief of the King's Riders during the War of the Ring
Déorwine was the Chief of the Theoden King's Riders during the War of the Ring. He was slain along with six of his knights at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields in Gondor. He was buried in the Mounds of Mundburg and memorialized in the Song of the Mounds of Mundburg.
We haven't had a single Rohan warrior among the proposals for a long time. A good Nordic style miniature would fit well into the MZ series......

Well, in a double month Narvi and Celebrimbor would nicely complement the Westgate. I could suggest them piecemeal, if not for the fact that we already have a nice Narvi (if from 2010, thanks to Bombadil63) and Celebrimbor got voted upon just two months ago. And there always is the chance that Chris will just put out these two instead of a gate when he lacks a good idea to represent it. That said, with plenty of room around, there are still many ideas not made. If you need inspiration, just look at the list here: mithrilfigures.proboards.com/thread/159/fellowship-suggestion-list-miniatures-overviewNot updated since 2009, but still shockful of good minis not yet made. Somehow when I abandoned the list it was Narvi who had the most unsuccessfull suggestions - with a happy end some months later. Anyway, I feel dwavish today, so I suggest an Ælderman of the StonefootsOne of the seven tribes of dwarve, one that went into the East and encountered the evil long before the others - it is not clear wether they made pacts with Morgoth and later Sauron or suffered in defiance. Legends tell us that parts of them just went underground when they were about to be enslaved, not to surface in this world again. I imagine just a grizzled old dwarve that ousts authority in a slightly different cultural context then the usual dwarven folks. And no, it is NOT "stonefeet". Hobbits MAY take take offense on that, but Dwarves WILL.

Due to internet issues I was not able to start the vote on time. Sorry about that. We have a very short vote so please act immediately. Stonefoots were ommitted as its not canon. All the others were accepted. Some later ideas were too late for submission.

The vote is pretty much done. We all know of this image of the master himself, so we probably have a good indication of what image should be depicted once the moonlight meets the western wall. tolkiengateway.net/wiki/File:J.R.R._Tolkien_-_Doors_of_Durin.jpgOne question is wether this is an artistic depiction of Tolkien of the gate before real pillars and trees, and thus the general impression of the gate as it existed in happier times, or is it actually the engraving on the stone. I tend to assume its the latter. One could easily make a 3d-printable door out of this image where the inscription is either protruding or sunk into the surface. A light protrusion is probably best for painting this in light silver green (or blue) while keeping the rest dark grey. Still, its all a mechanical process. No need to bother Chris with this, unless the image given by Tolkien is not used.

And the demise of the mounted female M16, who lost by one vote and never got made as "mounted" months are rare to behold. I fail to see architecture as a focus of this range, especially not one that should be both next to monumental and then invisible to the touch. Well, majority votes sometimes go awry. A price worth paying. But doing the same mistake twice bodes ill. I would love to see my misery scepticism being refuted by a splendid sculpt, though. Being wrong is also part of life. I actually have a 'West Door' that I printed off a couple of years ago which I am/was going to use in a revamped diorama of the entering the Mines passage of the book. I guess I will see how the vote goes

If the West Gate wins, are we certain the figurine will be possible to make this time ? It was already suggested back in November 2006 by Bombadil1963 but in the end it proved impossible to sculpt and produce (but back in the days, 3D was not there.. neither sculpt nor print) if it wins though I'd really wish it could tall and wide enough to fit a troll. as for the inscription I hope it could be realized using the canonical shape of the inscriptions made by Narvi and Celebrimbor and shown in the books. here is a copy tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Doors_of_Durin#/media/File:J.R.R._Tolkien_-_Doors_of_Durin.jpg All other representations in many other figurine ranges also use this model The pictures provided in the newsletter was not the official one. I believe Born of that abandonment was Morlas the Squirrel

Yes please, in any case the design of the inscription shown in the Book is the correct one.
Hope the size can be chosen in a matter that the smaller letters on the arch make no problems. Even big enough for a troll - if he can pass the dwarf guards... 😁

'The West Gate of Moria' is a clear favourite from the 1st round but there are plenty of undecided voters out there so the final winner is far from certain. We have seen the tide turn more than once before. So please vote before the end of the month and lets reveal the victor for February 2024.
Please also comment on your support, even if you did not support it the first time, as your comments may sway others to back your favoured idea.

Faramir as Steward of Gondor
If the suggestions list is still one short I would like to make another proposal for a suggestion I made before.
Faramir in his role as The Steward of Gondor while Aragorn/Elessar is on campaign against the last remnants of Gondor's enemies.
Either standing with his rod of office looking out as the army goes out to war or sitting in his chair hearing news and reports.

Regarding the West Gate: I trust in Chris Tubb's skills and decision.
Correct, the Doors are invisible. Until Gandalfs words and the moonlight reveals the inscription. And the Gate opens after speaking the Password. There are many figures exist to be put in front of the Gate, meaning, just the Gate itself as a scenery piece is missing. That scene holds a deep magic in the novel IMHO See the Head of Grond the battering ram: one needs so much more modelling to build the complete war-machine, but it is essential for it.
The opened Gate indeed is a very strong Vignette - or better Box-Set - theme, with the upset (fighting) fellowship, Bill the pony dashing away and even one tentakle of the Watcher creeping out of the lake and grappling for Frodo.

Ranger bringing food (to the Ranger playing his harp) As a companion-piece to the Ranger at rest playing a harp, a standing figure looking down at his campsite companion and offering perhaps a roasted bird, skewered on his sword, or handing down a bowl of broth.
