Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures.
Post your suggestions here. ONE per member.
This month's ideas is for single figures only, so no mounted or Vignettes (more than 2 people or a lot of furniture + two people) please. A mounted figure counts as two figures (horse/camel/warg/etc)
The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability.
Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY:
IDEA TITLE
"this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..."
Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion.
Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote.
Voting will begin on the 15th of February (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 14th.
You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry).
If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions.

Vidugavia was the most powerful leader of the Northmen during the 1200s of the Third Age. He used the title King of Rhovanion although his realm encompassed only the part of Rhovanion

For my first proposition, I would like to suggest: Frerin - Brother of Thorin OakenshieldFrerin, son of Thrain II (M156), brother of Thorin (M155) and Dis (M161) is missing to the collection  ! He fought and died at the battle against Azog's forces in 2799. I thought about a mini which could match with his siblings. Again I suggest we have a new hobbit in our MS series. Bilbo in mithril coat with ArkenstoneI imagine Bilbo with mithril coat presenting the Arkenstone to Thranduil and Bard. If I remember well, this event is the only one where Bilbo can be represented wearing the mithril coat (during battle of five armies, he was quickly knocked out by a stone and still wearing the one ring, so invisible). I wonder if the Arkenstone could be not metalic, but in resin for instance...or even mineral !  |

My suggestion for this month is: SAND DEVIL of (Far) Haradfrom MERP modules
Creatures of Middle earth
or Far Harad:
„Men who die in desert storms have been known to linger on
in Middle-earth as tortured spirits known as Sand Devils.
They maintain a semi-material form with the appearance of miniature,
sand-choked whirlwinds, and travel across the open wastes of the desert
searching aimlessly for lives which they can end.
Their form also makes for perfect camouflage in their environment,
since ordinary whirlwinds are not at all uncommon in the region.
A Sand Devil attacks by enveloping its prey inside its cloud-like body,
clogging the foes eyes, ears, mouth, and nose w ith a mass of swirling sand.
The sand also tears at the victim's flesh.
Sand Devils are susceptible to magical attacks,
but they are most vulnerable to water.
The contents of a waterskin. when thrown on a Sand Devil's dry body,
will have the effect of a fireball.

Haradan travellers journeying across the Mirror of Fire or the Dune Sea
carry their water bottles open and ready, figuring that the loss of water
is worth the insurance.”I imagine the Sand Devil figure a bit taller than a regular Human Mithril miniature, in a very dynamic pose, the lower part of the figure as a bended, whirling form or "wave" of sand, the upper part should be some kind of semi-human demon-like being with outstretched arms and with a gaunt face (either with a bald head or somewhat “swirling hair" or "horns" of sand) with wide open jaws, ready to attack some unaware desert traveller. A special figure to fit in the Harad range like the Razarac, the Lesinas and Haradrim warriors which could also be used as an addition ghost-like creature to a diorama or in a roleplay as an supernatural encounter. The Lord of Khand's body guard To complement the Christmas figure the Lord of Khand, I would like to re-suggest a complimentary figure such as a swordsman or spearman in a similar laminar type armour with shield (I think we have a Variag archer on the way). The idea is for a warrior of higher position than a general Variag soldier hence armour not too dissimilar to the LoK figure. The figure could be in an 'action' pose, defending his Lord perhaps as the tide turns on Sauron, or a more static, but limiting pose. The MS-range includes a lot of races,
like men, elves,ents, orcs, half-trolls, trolls, dwarves, maias...
...but I miss the half-orc-race...
So please vote for a
Half-orc chieftain
to fill the gap. (by the way the new Helm's deep-range hasn't got a half-orc-chieftain too)

Sand Devil, well yes I like it too... though in Far Harad I suppose these are not 'unique' creatures and would require several of them if you plan on building a great scene. Different and original definitly, unique... well not really, still I really like the idea Vidugavia and Bilbo with Arkenstone would be less original but definitly unique in the range so far... hard choice... @gilgaladtolkien the helm's deep range is not complete yet, only the first one (for an announced total of 4) has been released and from what I saw or heard half-orcs were planned in the forthcoming ones, I suppose there will be some half-orc officers in these... providing they ever get released indeed) |

Grimbeorn the Old was Beorn's son. Like his father, he could turn into the shape of a bear, and he lived in the same regions as his father had in the Vales of Anduin. He took over as chieftan of the Beornings after his father's death. As chieftain, he kept the High Pass and the Ford of Carrock free from orcs and wolves, though Gloin commented to Frodo Baggins that his "tolls are high" and he was "not over fond of dwarves."

The ancient one watches curiously, as a second source of light soon follows. Little does it know that an epic battle is about to ensue…or perhaps it has witnessed the age old struggle before? I've heard the argument against, and I respectfully disagree. With a plethora of options and very few restrictions, Chris will undoubtedly create something truly wonderful to behold! Every time I say it, the sky opens up and some dude with a big arm starts throwing lightning bolts!  Anyway, a Half-orc boss sounds great! The taller brutes were plentiful. And I'm sure at least one leader type accompanied Saruman into the Shire. They say they served the fallen wizard until his last breath, but where were they when Grima stuck a knife in him? Instead of Hobbits, I should like to have seen a Half-orc beat Grima down, followed by a nice barbecue. Slobber and slurp! It's fresh meats we wants! ;D |

Lothar, is a very ancient and very german name. It should not be blamed with comparing it with an orcish name!
Lothar is derived from old- german "hluti" and "heri" which means "loud warrior"! And it was that name that gives "Lotharingia", "Lothringen" in german and "Lorraine" in french it`s name! Cause that special Lothar was one of the heirs of Carl the Great.
You like to find some relationship with orcish names? Then: search!
But not in my language!

Well it seems like we have plenty of great bad guy suggestions to go with the always numerous good guy suggestions.
I know of Lothgaringa. It was a land established in the 9th century and lasted in some form for over 500 years, rarely independant, before constant struggles between its more powerful Easten Frankish and Western Frankish neighbors finally caused it to disintegrate into smaller dutchies and protectorates. Originally it extended from the low countries just south of Denmark down both sides of the Rhine and into Western Switzerland and Eastern France. Today's Lorraine Provence in France was once part of the core lands of Lothgaringa.
So Grond, now you have some history to go with Roland's lesson. Although I would argue that the enemies of the Lothgaringans, especially the soldiers of Charles the Fat who the Lothgaringians helped depose in 887 would have said that "half-Orc" was a good description (if not liguistically correct) of their enemy :-)

Once again, I will suggest Hirgon, Bearer of the Red Arrow.
He did not make the second round last time, but has in previous months. He is a pivital figure in the Lord of the Rings, as it was his arrival that convinced King Theoden to ride with his host to Gondor. I see him bowed on one knee before King Theoden presenting the arrow in outstreached hand, with head bowed. His riding gear would be light for speed.

I like the name "HUSCARLE". It reminds me of... Nope! I won't make that mistake again! Anyway, good luck with your suggestion, not because it's an orc, but because you're simply a new member. Speaking of orcs, I must warn you. It's not so easy to push an orc through to the finish line around here. Don't be discouraged, however. If it's something you really like, fight for it! |

I suggest:
[glow=red,2,300]Erestor sitting at the white council.[/glow]
He could be placed niceley on the right hand of Elrond, staring at Saruman and should not disturb but stress the dynamic of the scene, where Saruman is standing alone and the others on the other side.
This mini is thougth to supplement the MB560 "white council" boxed set.
