as was posted in the last newsletter with the forthcoming mithril releases I admit I am quite perplex : it is - I quote - "an entry level introduction to collecting Mithril Miniatures" but all the figurines already exist in a way or another especially in the MB236 boxed set for 30€ at the moment for 9 figurines. the new set is to includes 1. Gandalf (already in the old one) 2. Bilbo, (already in the old one) 3. Elrond, (already in the old one) 4 Thorin, (already in the old one) 5. Bard, (already in the old one) 6. The Great Goblin, (already in the old one) 7. Gollum, (already in the old one) 8. Dain (not included in the old one, although the Elven-King is) 9. Beorn, (already in the old one) Nothing new except the art and design of the figurine I do hope there is quite a difference for those figurines and that there will be a special offer for them making them as interesting for a starting set, than the MB236... at 30€ else I don't see the point

I must admit that I have to agree with Gildor regarding the subject matter, I had imagined more of a themed set rather than already released single characters (in some instances more than one version of). Still, let's wait for the final unveiling

I'm still speechless about this. I simply cannot believe it.

if they wanted to make a promo they could have made a new MB with a different set of figurines from the old Hobbit range... no need to create any new ones, AND the set itself is "new" and exclusive...
and it costs far less to produce....

I edited it out from my original reply posting, but what I personally was looking forward to/hoping (depending on how many 'new' Hobbit' based figures are planned) was maybe the dwarves (and Bilbo - we wouldn't have needed a Gandalf) in travelling gear so a scene in the Mountains or in Mirkwood could be realised (not even expecting their ponies to be included ). There is also the Battle of the Five Armies to consider as well as many other personal favourites that collectors will probably have hoped for. I will look to the cost of these figures as well, are they going to be pitched at the 11.95 E price of the HD 2 figures, or a more reasonable price for what is after all more of the same? I'm sure that the figures will be to CT's usual standard, but if this range of subjects doesn't draw in new collectors, then long standing collectors will be left holding the 'babe' once again with the (non) choice of buying another duplicate just to keep their collection complete, or buying another duplicate just to keep their collection complete ;D. (I just hope Elrond is not holding another book or scroll ;D). Regards.

I just share your thoughts, Ddaines, and would like to support what you said.

...me too David... I'm agree with your ideas... I just hope that this figures will be sculpted in significantly different poses from the previous ... everything else will be too expensive ! Maybe something else can be changed....

Ddaines, I fear you may be quite disapointed about this :/
I wrote to Chris about the general disapointment and explained what was said here... For him this set is really meant for new audience, not existing one as it would be unecessary duplicates... I told him that a choice of Thorin and Co. with the dwarves altogether could have been perfect for both newcomers and collector veterans but now the figurines are made I assume there is nothing to be done... but I just HOPE the price will be fair and not more than the Hobbit set at 30€ else it'll be a failure even before its release... considering there won't be any promotion outside the internet social possibilities. (no retail)

Is there any news on when this new set is going to be released?
