Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member.
This month's ideas can be single figures, mounted figures or double figures. This also allows for one figure with a small piece of furniture (like a chair). Please avoid having a mounted figure with a single figure or larger monsters like dragons.
The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no argument will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligibility.
Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY:
IDEA TITLE
"this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..."
Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragraph. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion.
Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote.
Voting will begin on the 23rd of July. We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 22nd.
You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry).

Duilin and Derufin (Battle of the Pelennor Fields)
"From the uplands of Morthond, the great Blackroot Vale, tall Duinhir with his sons, Duilin and Derufin, and five hundred bowmen."~ Return of the King,"Minas Tirith" P. 43
"The axes hewed Forlong as he fought alone and unhorsed; and both Duilin of Morthond and his brother were trampled to death when they assailed the mumakil, leading their bowmen close to shoot at the eyes of the monsters." ~ Return of the King, "The Battle of the Pelennor Fields" P. 124

the idea of Merry as Rohan squire is quite good. Actually we already have a "Gondor suit" Pippin, but no "Rohan suit" Merry at all... that could be a great addition
as for my own suggestion :
King Elessar at the Black Gate
During the last assault at the end of the War of the Ring, when the negociations were done with the Mouth of Sauron, Aragorn led the last stand upon the Black Gate. From this battle we already have a great vignette with Beregond and Pippin and the troll. but the very leader of the army of Free Folks, all clad in his regal armor, on horse, gathering troops and rousing them for one last hopeless stand ... would be epic
(Some will say, yet another Aragorn... but we do not have a single Aragorn as a king , mounted, in combat, leading troops as a commander, not as a ranger... So that is quite unique...Actually there is only one Aragorn mounted in the whole range, it's the "House of Elrond" scene of the leave-taking, with Arwen...)
It could be inspired by M260 Theoden, on a rearing horse (rearing horse in mithril range is quite unique with M260) or a backing horse (like the unreleased MW347 mounted Dunlending captain)

At last! A double-figure month! Time to suggest my old, oft-requested favourite again:
Elfhelm the Marshal on horseback
Elfhelm is one of the few remaining genuine, named, speaking characters from LOTR for whom a Mihtril figure has yet to be produced. For those who need reminding, he was the Rohirrim marshal with a charmed life who survived both the battles at the Fords of Isen and the battle of the Pelennor fields. He also defeated the Orc and Easterling army that remained in Anorien when Eomer and Aragorn marched to the Black Gate.
If all that doesn't qualify him for inclusion in the MS range then I don't know what does!

Wow, these are all really good! So is your own suggestion, which I might vote for myself if Elfhelm doesn't look as if he's going to do well (er, again...).

Dernhelm (Eowyn) and Merry Brandybuck, riding Windfola to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. In Return of the King, Eowyn disguised herself as a man and under the alias of Dernhelm, travelled with the Riders of Rohan to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields outside the White City of Minas Tirith in Gondor, carrying with her Merry Brandybuck, who had also been ordered to remain behind, on her horse Windfola.Time for suggesting another mounted miniature I would like to have.

Mounted Haradhrim ('Kettle') Drummer I did have other ideas for when this day arrived again, but alas my memory has faded , therefore I suggest a mounted Harardrhim drummer which I base on the splendid Napoleonic mounted Mameluke warriors. The drummer would be mounted on a sturdy horse with a double Kettle-Drum either side of the saddle and the drummer would be beating time to keep the marching foot-soldiers in step as they march towards Minas Tirith, or maybe they are in the column that Frodo and Sam observe marching to the Morannon.

The Kin-Strife: Eldacar King-in-exile slaying Castamir the Usurper, recovering his throne.
I imagine a nice little scene, worthy to be in the fellowship range: The true King defeats the arrogant Usurper. Two Kings of Gondor in full armour in combat: Eldacar doing the final strike and Castamir just falling dead on a stony base. Eldacar is wearing armour more the northman style because he was equipped for this battle in Rhovanion. He is fighting with sword and shield. But he also is wearing some Gondorian stuff, a black surcoat with the white tree of the southern kingdom, which he has taken with him into exile - to show he's the right King of Gondor. Castamir is wearing the gondorian style of armour loosing (maybe a broken) sword and shield. Castamir's surcoat and shield should have a additional emblem of a ship because of his connection to the fleet of Gondor.
Eldacar was the twenty-first King of Gondor (1432-37,1447 -1490). Because his mother was not a Dúnadan and because he was born in Rhovanion and was called in his youth Vinitharya, Eldacar was believed to be less than a true Dúnadan of Gondor and so the royal family rebelled against him. This rebellion, the Kin-strife, lasted for five years, for Eldacar was a noble man and a valiant soldier and was not easily defeated. Eventually, however, he was besieged in Osgiliath, but he escaped and fled to Rhovanion. Ten years later in 1447, Eldacar returned to Gondor with an army of Northmen. Gaining much support from the people of northern Gondor, Eldacar slew his cruel successor, Castamir the Usurper, in the battle of the crossings of Erui and recovered his throne. Despite his mixed blood, Eldacar did not age more swiftly than other Dúnedain, and he proved a good ruler.
Castamir: Dúnadan, twenty-second King of Gondor (1437 - 47). He was the grandson of a younger brother of Rómendacil II. at the time of the Kin-strife he was Captain of the Ships. He aided in the overthrow of King Eldacar, and as the most popular of the rebels (he commanded the loyalty of the entire fleet and of the peoples of the coasts), he was made King. However, Castamir proved to be a cruel and arrogant ruler. He put Eldacar's capured son Ornendil to death and lavished all his affection on the fleet, ignoring the land and the army. In the tenth year of his reign, therefore, when Eldacar returned, the people of inland Gondor rebelled against Castamir. He attempted to flee, but was caught and slain by Eldacar in the Battle of the crossings of the River Erui in the south of Minas Anor (later Minas Tirith).

strangely, when we have the opportunity to suggest double figures or little scenes, our inspiration is great... maybe we should suggest only once per two months for a year, and only suggest doubles, only six releases per year and Mithril could make up with their delays too, this way just a suggestion... what do you think?

What do I think ? I'm thinking of... Boromir mounted at City of TharbadI suggest Boromir on horse, on his way to the Council of Elrond, passing by the ruins of Tharbad. He should be wearing his cloak and carrying his horn of course. His horse also carries his shield and other packages. Not really a Boromir in fighting action, but more a figure that can be used to express the athmosphere of travelling through the history of Middle Earth.

It would solve many logistical issues at Mithril's end, and would enable us to get some great ideas sculpted - including all of the above (eventually...)!

Merry and Pippin drinking from bowls entThe two hobbits are sitting at a table or lying on a tree trunk while drinking bowls Treebeard offered ..... Chris can create a very nice (small) scene of this time. I hope the "tiny" hobbit size allows create "objects" to the scene without violate rules of this month ......

Wow, many great ideas!!! I am partial to Elfhelm, however, and have suggested him a few times. He's one of the last named figures unmade, along with Duilin and Derufin.

Thror’s and Thrain’s escape from Erebor
When Smaug depredated Erebor, many Dwarves escaped the pillage and burning. The last to leave the montain were Thror and his son Thrain II who escaped through the secret doorway in the side of the mountain.
I imagine them still in (perhaps damaged) armour from the fight against the Dragon, perhaps with a hooded cloak and with just the little baggage of what they could grab on their escape. I would like to see two royal dwarves, just beaten, desperate but still proud.

I voted for my own suggestion (Aragorn at black gate) for the time being... which, I'm no more surprised... did not get attention at all. Maybe I should ask guys like Hwolf or Shadyt to submit my ideas, they tend to have quite a success at winning suggestions (12 for Hwolf, 9 for Shadyt)
I think I'll vote for Elfhelm or the witch king in the second turn, I begin to have quite an indigestion with all those Haradrim army or common characters.... but that's my opinion...
some stats : 4 winning haradrim "commoners" in two years... I think that's the highest stats of a given race (as anonymous characters) in the whole Gold Fellowship range actually...
MS468 : may 2007 - Haradrim on war camel (by Hwolf) MS494 : october 2007 - Haradrim chieftain (by bombadil963) MS584 : may 2012 - Haradrim Bellydancer & trader (by Hwolf) MS596 : november 2012 - Haradrim Musician (by Theobald) MS602 : june 2013 - Black Troll-man of Far-harad (by Shadyt) MS6xx : November 2013 : Haradan Standard Bearer (by Shadyt)
a Haradrim regular full 10 figs. range would have been more appropriate due to such an acclaim

I think that an M series featuring the Haradrim was needed and would still be welcome by many of the members. It does seem very unlikely that this will ever happen since Mithril does not release M series very often. The Gold Fellowship seems the only affordable avenue left to have these miniatures produced.

Yes I agree there are many Haradrim figures who became winners I am amoung the suggestors with my war camel rider, the bellydancer, the Razarac reloaded and Sangarunya... But I think they are all very beautiful and worthy in their release. And the kettle drummer rider can be as interesting as the others, sculpted by Chris. But lets see who wins.
