It is great to see so many people voting on this topic this year. This round is the final round. I gathered the top ideas and you have TWO votes to give. Please take careful note of the month markers placed after each idea and vote for one idea in BOTH months. So watch the (DEC) and (JAN) markers carefully.
Due to the fact that there were two tied 2nd place January ideas I added both, which is why you have 2 finalists for December and three for January.
You are free to comment on any of these ideas, even if you did not originally support or suggest them.

Pity to see you disapointed. Did you mention that it has always been so in the past for the double voting for Dec/Jan? Mostly there was a first place and a second place (except for a tie) and one did go as winner for December and one did go as winner for January. (suggestion with most votes makes the first place for the other month) so it is as I understand it. Did you mention that in the first round there were 12 suggestions to vote for for December and only 10 for January? by the way – the bad side is going to win for both months – poor Elves, poor Hobbits  65 votes by 33 voters... again we are one vote short... pity. |

What happens if the two suggestions with the highest scores both belong in the same month....? I don't think it's ever happened yet in these "double-months", but it's currently a distinct possibility.

I see that thus far we have 37 votes for January figures but only 34 for December figures, which makes for a very uneven playing field. Of course, 34 people may have failed to use both their votes, in which case more fool them. Otherwise some people have voted for two figures in a single month, which isn't really playing in the spirit of the game, so to speak.

I'm not going to vote this month! I don't understand why this is a problem. We have always done a combination at Christmas. All it takes is a little flexibility in how you look at the results. The numbers for Jan are explained, there was a tie for 2nd place in the first round so I had to add both in, or arbitrarily delete one which is unfair to the other person. Work with me a little. |

As you cannot combine your two votes to support ONE option, there is not really a point in putting both votes into the same month - all you would do is skip one month and cancel out your vote for the other.
If, eg, I want the Numenorean elected - putting the second vote upon Pippin or the Messenger would bring no gain at all, but rather the risk that one of these will take over, and it will cost me my influence in December.
So I do not see a problem with the system - its not perfect, but no harm can be done.
I beg you just to vote!

On another note... what I find weired is that when I came here - some 8 hours after the Mail that this vote is open - there were already 16 votes for the tribesman and 15 for the Numenorean, with scarcely any vote for the other options.
If I had saved the page I could calculate the exact probability (assuming a random distribution). From 16:2 to 19:20 is on first guess in the 1:1000 range. December shows a similar pattern, making it decisively unlikely to be random.
Seems that almost all later votes went to the other options, which makes me wonder how this can happen. My guess would be a voting group - read: a group of members who have decided to stick together to get a specific suggestion through. Not that this is against rules - not even the spirit of it, I am really just wondering.
I am currently teaching the read of statistics and data in one of my classes, so I am a bit sensitive to data analysis and artifacts atm. If some of those 15 who voted within the first 8 hours for both Tribesman and Numenorean could confirm or refute my assumption (in a mail, if you want) I would be glad.
APPEND EDIT: Calculation for December
15 votes, with say 5 votes gone to other options. From then on there was not a single addon to the Numenorean, ie. 25 votes always hit the 2/3 chance of the other two options, some 1:3300. Either a voting group, some real bad memory on my side, or varying tastes dependent on the time-zone...

I sometimes change my vote in the latter stages if my own preference no longer stands a chance - after all, there's no point in wasting a vote on a no-hoper; at that point I shift to my "second" preference. But I haven't done that this month (yet!), so the unusual shift in the balance of the voting is nowt to do with me. Maybe, as you surmise, a lot of people have done so. Personally I'd be satisfied with any of this month's figures, and I hope that all the "losers" will be suggested again (and again) tlll they win.
I seem to recall that, way back in the very early days of Fellowship voting, sone sort of "cartel" of members emerged that attempted to push through certain figures. Or is my memory wrong? (it's certainly not what it used to be! - memory like a lumber-room, remember...)

I know that the idea was debated on mmp and refuted, but thats years ago.
While I can understand that you change your vote when your suggestion falls behind, its hard to use that line of argument for the Numenorean who was in lead only yesterday. It must have been a change of mind of two of the original voters.

But then, they were "far" behind, and although I have sometimes shifted my vote to "more useful" options just as barliman explained I did not this time if I don't recall badly. :S Mainly because I like the ideas I voted for better than the others, and also because Pippin is beign suggested once an again since quite a few years ago and I think it really deserves a place in our mithril cabinets. Although not beign quite a fan of MS/Z hobbitses figures for their "ratio price" ^^' |

What difference would that have made, Master D? - he still wouldn't be winning.
Meanwhile, I'm delighted to see Pippin and his Palantir doing so well. Can't remember who suggested him, but this figure represents a critical moment in the LOTR story, for which an appropriate figure in the Mithril range is long overdue.

At least from 2010 from craftinfool not sure if he was the first suggesting him, but it has been suggested quite many times without success, falling behind other "personalities or not". And I really agree with barliman that this is an important moment to have represented. It can be sculpted quite dramatically if it is not just standing still with a ball in his hands... |

Sitting alone on a green hillock near his bed (outdoors) in the moon light, with his knees drawn up and the smooth globe of crystal between them, he bent low over the ball. And he is wearing his elven cloak Result of that foolish look is that Pippin fell back with a strangled, but piercing cry and lay still. – could also be a nice pose for the miniature. otherwise it whould be the Pippin 'stealing' the Palantír scene.  |
