Well it looks like we are on target to start the vote this month. Thanks to all members who took the time and effort to submit their ideas and face the challenge ahead. This vote will last about a week and the 2nd round will start next Friday. This is, as usual, a blind vote, so you will not see the current state of the poll until after voting. This helps give all ideas an equal starting position, which is always fair.
I also urge members to add comments supporting their choices, even if you did not originally submit that idea. There are plenty of voters that can be swayed by a good argument, so don't be afraid to make one.
This is a portrait month so that is a topic that can also be discussed.

Errand Rider of GondorOne of the iconic images for me - an Errand Rider in full gallop, perhaps bearing one of the red arrows. It could be Hirgon (MS569 - mithril.faerylands.eu/display.php?reference=MS569 ), one of the other riders sent out during the War of the Ring, or just representing one of the many messengers that went between Rohan and Gondor in the centuries of their common history - at speed in time of need. For some reason I always remember this line: "We need no further guidance, said Elfhelm, for there are riders in the host who have ridden down to Mundburg in days of peace. When we come to the road it will veer south, and there will lie before us still seven leagues ere we reach the wall of the townlands. ... On that stretch the errand-riders of Gondeor reckoned to make their greatest speed.

Black Numenorian on a Rising Stallion
A Black Numenorian Lord wearing a Karma type helmet, swinging a sabor and rallying his troops. His octagonal shield has a unique Octopus design holding Sauron's Eye. His horse has a highly ornate saddle, head stall, reins and crupper with lots of scalp lock dangles.

Gypsy on horsebackThe appendices mentioned incursions of the Wainriders in Gondor from 1851 TA, for almost a century. To my knowledge, there is no miniature about this people. The appendices A mentionned that the Wainriders were a people, or confederacy, of Men from the East. They journeyed in great wagons, and their chieftains rode chariots in battle. In the Unfinished Tales, "Cirion and Eorl and the Friendship of Gondor and Rohan", it states that they camped in fortified camps of wagons. Their young women were also trained in arms, and they, along with old men and youths, stayed behind, able to defend their homes from attackers. The wainrider girl armed won the December votes. So, for this month, I propose another Gypsy on horseback, that would have my face (the Gypsy, not the horse...).

A portait of me whould only result in a Dunedain ranger mounted, that one already was successfully voted on and is produced with the hawk.
So I suggest instead:One suggestion to complete a Group of four Riders on three horses Strider riding Hasufel The Lord of the Rings The two Towers Chapter II The Riders of Rohan
Éomer was silent for a moment, then he spoke: “We both have need of haste,“ .... this is my choice. You may go; and what is more, I will lend you horses. This only I ask: when your quest is archieved, or is proved vain, return the horses over the Entwade to Meduseld, the high house in Edoras, where Théoden now sits. ...“
A great dark-grey horse was brought to Aragorn, and he mounted it. „Hasufel is his name,“ said Éomer. „May he bear you to better fortune than Garulf, his late master!“ A smaller and lighter horse, but restive and fiery, was brought to Legolas. Arod was his name. This one already is in the range: MS587 Lord of the Rings 'Legolas and Gimli riding Arod and there is a Gandalf the White, riding Shadowfax – so still missing is Strider on the lended horse of Rohan

"Female Wood Elf Ranger"How about a female Wood Elf Ranger? Like this!
It would be nice to see a female ranger.
Excerpt from LOTR: "The Wood-elves tracked him first, an easy task for them, for his trail was still fresh then. Through Mirkwood and back again it led them, though they never caught him."

There are already some excellent suggestions here, three of which I particularly want to see available, so I probably shan't contribute this month. Also, a portrait model of me would be somewhat wasted, since there's only a small and barely recognisable portion of me to be seen between my beard and hair – basically, therefore, a nose. Besides, a pair of spectacles would look ridiculous in Middle-earth...

Why Dear Barliman, sounds like a very interesting appearance There are many strange men on the roads of Middle-Earth and visiting the Inn at Bree And No, glasses are not ridiculous: there are indeed a few Mithril figures with spectacles: theres a Bilbo with book and spectacles (M341) and a wise man from Minas Tirith townfolk – also with book and spectacles ( M203 B )

Riding a goat? That runs the risk of people justifiably complaining about animal cruelty! (Did you read somewhere on the Internet that GW had recently received criticism for clothing its barbarians in animal fur....? (I kid you not.)

Meriadoc Brandybuck astride Stybba
While perhaps not the most iconic of Tolkien's named ponies or horses, I think Stybba deserves its due. This is the pony that Théoden gifts to Merry for the journey between the Hornburg and Dunharrow. Stybba ends up getting left behind when the Rohirrim ride to the Pelennor, as he is too slow and not fit for war, but he is still a noble pony of Rohan and should be immortalized as a beautiful Mithril Miniature. Oh, and I suppose Stybba's rider isn't too shabby, either. It's not every hobbit who can say they stabbed the Witch-king of Angmar and lived to tell the tale, or mustered the Shire-folk to oust an oppressive gang of ruffians led by a broken Istari.
"The king mounted his horse, Snowmane, and Merry sat beside him on his pony: Stybba was his name." -- The Lord of the Rings, Book V, Chapter II: The Passing of the Grey Company
"Théoden smiled. ‘Rather than that I would bear you with me on Snowmane,’ he said. ‘But at the least you shall ride with me to Edoras and look on Meduseld; for that way I shall go. So far Stybba can bear you: the great race will not begin till we reach the plains.’ " -- The Lord of the Rings, Book V, Chapter II: The Passing of the Grey Company
" ‘This is no journey for such steeds as Stybba, as I have told you,' said Théoden. ‘And in such a battle as we think to make on the fields of Gondor what would you do, Master Meriadoc, sword-thain though you be, and greater of heart than of stature?’ " -- The Lord of the Rings, Book V, Chapter II: The Passing of the Grey Company

Nice suggestion! Indeed, Merry the Hobbit is the only one in the fellowship range, who is still missing in all those years, though he was suggested before... All other members of the Fellowship of the Ring are there – some even several times.

(Did you read somewhere on the Internet that GW had recently received criticism for clothing its barbarians in animal fur....? (I kid you not.) Yep, I have seen that. From all the weired stuff going on in the universum of 40k, wearing animal fur would not be the foremost im my mind that hurt my ethics so much that I have to complain about it :-) Apart from that, I can only classify that as promotion gag from PETA - which worked, to some degree. As long as we do not get a "save the Orcs" campaign that complains about the cruel treatment of these natives in realms of Middle Eearth...

Southron horse archer
With horse bow notched with an arrow firing behind him (in reference to the Parthians and their "Parthian shot" technique of riding towards the enemy then turning to fire as they ride away). Rider with cloak billowing behind him, scimitar in a scabbard, wearing a corset of brazen plates and small helm with plaited hair falling to his shoulders. quivers on his elaborate horse saddle and decorated trappings on his horse. He is on a dynamic looking horse travelling at speed. Me as an extra (soldier) in Mary Queen of Scots:
