Since it has to be in the LOTR or the Hobbit, I would suggest... Boromir in Gondorian Armor leading the army, during the battle at Osgiliath before he was sent to Rivendell by his father

The death of Boromir. Sam, Rose and some of their offspring. The dwarves of the Hobbit, starting with Kili & Fili (playing their instruments...)

1/ The Funeral of Boromir - ie Boromir laid out in the boat perhaps with a sculpted water base. 2/ The Fellowship in the boats of Lorien 3/ Aragorn and his Standard bearer at the Moranon (perhaps with Gandalf) 4/ Merry Riding with Dernhelm

How about Halbarad holding the standard that Arwen made for Aragorn? It would complement the Aragorn and Palantir figure, and I don't believe a figure of Halbarad has been made yet. I will post a more specific description and possibly send sketches in the next few days.

Hi, everyone. Apologies to those who have seen this before. I have made a few substitutions since this last appeared:
1. Faramir and Eowyn in the Houses of Healing. From ROTK: "And so the fifth day came since the Lady Éowyn went first to Faramir; and they stood now together once more upon the walls of the City and looked out... They were clad in warm raiment and heavy cloaks, and over all the Lady Éowyn wore a great blue mantle of the colour of deep summer-night, and it was set with silver stars about hem and throat. Faramir had sent for this robe and had wrapped it about her; and he thought that she looked fair and queenly indeed as she stood there at his side. The mantle was wrought for his mother, Finduilas of Amroth, who died untimely, and was to him but a memory of loveliness in far days and of his first grief; and her robe seemed to him raiment fitting for the beauty and sadness of Éowyn." I can't possibly hope to add anything to that description, so I'll be quiet now.
2. Sauron the Fair. From ROTK: "But it was not so. Sauron was indeed caught in the wreck of Númenor, so that the bodily form in which he long had walked perished; but he fled back to Middle-earth, a spirit of hatred borne upon the dark wind. He was unable ever again to assume a form that seemed fair to men, but became black and hideous, and his power thereafter was through terror alone." I see him as very tall and thin (but not gaunt), a bit of the roguish, Loki-ish trickster in his features, long hair, headband, in flowing, regal robes of Numenorean design but with extravagant additions -- "improvements," he probably calls them, glittery and ornate but not tasteful. A wry look on his face, his left hand held out in a gesture of welcoming, his right hand tucked behind his back and curled in a fist.
3. Ar-Pharazôn the Golden. From ROTK: "The power and wealth of the Númenoreans nonetheless continued to increase; but their years lessened as their fear of death grew, and their joy departed. Tar-Palantir attempted to amend the evil; but it was too late, and there was rebellion and strife in Númenor. When he died, his nephew, leader of the rebellion, seized the sceptre, and became King Ar-Pharazôn. Ar-Pharazôn the Golden was the proudest and most powerful of all the Kings, and no less than the kingship of the world was his desire." He's brandishing his sceptre, he's wearing his crown, he's got his royal armor under a rich robe that drags behind him. At his side he wears his sword conspicuously.
4. Arathorn. From ROTK: "'Moreover,' he said, 'Arathorn is a stern man of full age, and will be chieftain sooner than men looked for; yet my heart forebodes mat he will be shortlived.'" I'm thinking here of something between existing Rangers and Cardolan royals from Thieves of Tharbad for the costume. A cloak, maybe, with hood pulled back, a full head of hair and a grim, weathered face. Richer clothes underneath the cloak. Maybe a mask around his neck like the kind that the Rangers of Ithilien use.
5. Thorongil (Aragorn in disguise when he worked for Thengel and Ecthelion). From ROTK: "Thorongil men called him in Gondor, the Eagle of the Star, for he was swift and keen-eyed, and wore a silver star upon his cloak; but no one knew his true name nor in what land he was born. He came to Ecthelion from Rohan, where he had served the King Thengel, but he was not one of the Rohirrim. He was a great leader of men, by land or by sea, but he departed into the shadows whence he came, before the days of Ecthelion were ended." A chance to do a younger and darker version of Aragorn. It could be a nice bookend piece to M124. In that one, Aragorn throws back his beggarly cloak and holds aloft his sword. In this one, maybe Thorongil is wrapped guardedly in his cloak, maybe concealing part of his face, his silver star inconspicuously displayed.
5.5. Bombur. From FOTR: "Bombur was now so fat that he could not move himself from his couch to his chair at table, and it took six young dwarves to lift him." Come, now, what's not to like about this? You have to admit, there isn't anything remotely close to it in the current Mithril catalog. Bombur standing, smiling, with a glass of mead in one hand, a leg of lamb in the other, a baggy hood on his head, and a long beard thrust into his belt. Comes complete with a little carriage box or platform with six handles.

2. Sauron the Fair. ... I see him as very tall and thin (but not gaunt), a bit of the roguish, Loki-ish trickster in his features, Hmmm. Do you mean "Sauron the Fair" or "Sauron after the fall of Numenor?" Before the fall he was able to charm the Elves, so I simply cannot imagine that trickster-feeling you mention. After the fall he is no longer "the fair". With second though, one of both would be great, to show off the change that the fall of Numenor caused in him :-) The question arises how far Mithril can go here regarding that licence-issue. Are characters that are mentioned, but do not appear in person, in the LOTR fair game, or not?

This would be Sauron the Fair -- Sauron before the fall of Numenor. Granted, the trickster-god interpretation might not be the best one, but I'd argue for it like this. Sauron can't wholly conceal his true nature, so something has to be not quite right with his fair appearance. He can't be ugly if he's Sauron the Fair, and I don't think he would be threatening to behold. The quality that seems to work (for me, at least) is that he is cunning and a bit greasy, like a Wormtongue, only less obvious.

Rangers of the North. Well, the beginnings of a Grey Company series - Mounted, armoured Rangers of the North, Mounted, armoured Sons of Elrond, Halbarad etc. But having a bunch of Rangers of the North would make me happy. Very happy indeed. Gavin

On a slightly more useful note, perhaps it might be worthwhile to consider doing special recasts for Gold Fellowship members - eg, of the Gondorian and Orc warband sets?
Or some of the old "Horselords" miniatures. Or Sindarin Elves?

Hi! If one figure is the limit, then Ill go for:
- Sauron of his Throne. Make him bigger than normal men - Bilbo writing the Red book
Id like vignettes like:
- Bilbo and the Trolls - The hands of the king are the hands of the healer (Aragorn reviving Merry) - Faramir and Eowyn in the garden of the house of healing
Cheers Emo

So many subjects to choose, and only one miniature a month? You could do a while with my choise: I vote for the Dwarves from the Hobbit. Preferably as a traveling fellowship, and of course also including Gandalf and Bilbo. Or as mentioned before, with music instruments in the house of Bilbo. A vignette with Bilbo and the three Trolls would also be nice.

A mini of Theodred would be nice, but not a "fall of Theodred" type figure. The figure should show him as a great warrior - perhaps a vignette of him against a couple or five Isengard orcs. Or just him looking menacing.
I'd really like to see a figure made of a very old King Dain standing over the body of King Brand (of Dale) protecting the body from all enemies. It takes place in the War of the Ring, just a different location.
I'd also like to see some lords of Gondor made - Forlong the Fat, Prince Imrahil, etc. (They are all listed in my post in the wishlist section of the regular forum.)

Hi For one figure I suggest: - Malbeth the prophet. He will be bent with long hairs. He has a long staff (but not like a wizard's, a old man's staff) and he point a finger when predicting.
For vignette I suggest - Gandalf meets Thrain in the dungeons of Dol Guldur: Thrain is sitting on a stone floor with straw, dying, and give the map of Thror and the ring to Gandalf, which is kneeling in front of thrain. Bye Krosbone

A Corsair captain posed as if he were standing on the deck of his ship looking into the far distance, perhaps with a suggestion of a sea wind ruffling his clothing.

A vignette of Pippin trying to take the palantir away from a sleeping Gandalf. It is at their camp after going to Isengard, and Merry is alseep, while Pippin switched the Palantir at the sleeping Gandalf's side with a large stone. Then have Pippin gazing into the stone before he cries out.
Or have a vignette of Pippin and Beregond facing the Troll Chieftain at the Black Gates.
Or have a vignette of two Ents at Isengard. Have one of Treebeard with a rock in his hand, and the other of another ent grasping an orc. (or something like that)

These are my suggestions:
- Gothmog lieutenant of Morghul leading the troops - Bandobras Tuk on ponny and waving a big club - Golfinbul at the Green Fields - Thorin at Azanulbizar (or Nanduhirion) defending himself with and axe in one hand and an oak branch in the other - Bolg, Azog's son at the batle of five armies

I think Thorin with the oak branch is a fantastic idea. Also, I like Halbarad, the corsair, and I think a Lords of Gondor series would carry us a long way. I have to give props to Mithrandir and his FAT BOMBUR figure ;D I tend to think items like the thirteen Hobbit dwarves, and the three trolls, death of Boromir etc, should remain in the province of regular mithril releases. I would like to see very popular ideas like that available to all. I see this Fellowship as being a way to get those niche characters, and not so much vignettes of popular scenes.

Hello I have another suggestion. Earendil is rescuing Elwing (as a bird) on the Vingilot's deck. The bird has the Silmaril on her chest and Earendil is holding the bird near his heart, as it's written in the Silmarillion. I think it's an original subject: there is already a lot of dwarves and warriors in the collection and we could change the theme "The Last Great Fight of ...." And a single figure seems to me better than a box. How many time before the completion of the box? (Vote will be hard, there are a lot of subject in July). Bye krosbone

The quotes in ROTK about Halbarad are quite numerous, so I'm keep them to a minimum (just to show he actually did carry the standard). I'm sure everyone has read ROTK many times, so I won't include descriptions (though they are also in Ch. 2 and Ch. 6) as it would be too long of a post. Chapter 2 Passing of the Grey Company: ..."and with him was Aragorn, and Halbarad bearing the great staff"... (this is after Aragorn looked into the palantir and the company was preparing to depart) The text says that Aragorn had a different guise when looking into the palantir. I believe he had the standard in the background. Chapter 6 The Battle of Pelennor Fields: ..."There came Legolas, and Gimli wielding his axe, and Halbarad with the standard"... (getting off the ships to join the battle at Pelennor after the standard had been officially unfurled) Halbarad knew going in that he was going to die but went anyway. He deserves to have a figure made.

Hi Too much subjects. We can vote during all this year!! Personally, I think the fellowship's miniatures have to be "different" than the M series of mithril. As "Celebrimbor, The Oath of Cirion and Eorl": these are book's extract. And we cannot confuse Celebrimbor with another character. Fëanor and his sons are a good idea (because the first age is full-of-material for the mithril collection) but the risk is to obtain eight clones of the same Noldor's Lord: they are not recognizable . Idem for the thirteen dwarves (except if you paint their hat!!). On the other hand, I think they are good ideas for the M series. But of course majority will decide. Bye Krosbone

I would love to see a box set or vignette of Frodo and Sam being rescued by the Eagles from Mount Doom with Gandalf on Gwaihir's back.
A small vignette with Legolas and a confident Gimli. Gimli announces to Legolas that he passed his score by one orc. Have Gimli with the linen band around his head, holding up his notched axe in one hand, and the other hand holding up 2 fingers (for 42). Then have the orc with the iron collar around his neck on the ground in the middle of them. (Two Towers, beginning of The Road to Isengard chapter)
