Thanks to everyone, who contributed, for the latest suggestions. Some of them appeal immediately to me, like the slaying of Ugluk or Beorn with Bolg, while others grow more slowly as pictures in my mind. I must admit that Beruthiel did not fire my imagination at first, but she has begun to work her magic over the last few weeks. I see her sitting languidly, (like a lady in a pre-Raphaelite painting), while various felines stretch or sit around her.
Farewell to Lorien is really a little too big for the Fellowship vignette as is the Grond with its crew of trolls. The latter has been penciled in as a regular release for some time as has the Hobbit and the complete Dwarves set. As for Bombur, he really has to make an appearance in the Fellowship range sooner or later!
The Watcher is a model that we must make at some stage in the future but one which I feel is too complex for a Fellowship release, as with the fleet containing Lorien elves and Gandalf's firework cart. We discussed all these suggestions and agreed that, as all would require resin components; the production run for the Felllowship figure would be too small to justify this.
The Fellowship suggestions certainly demonstrate that Tolkien's work, even after all these years, still contains a vast number of gems that we have not yet mined.
As a final note, and in response to Gildor's query about the license situation, Mithril and ICE before it both derived their licenses from Tolkien enterprises which owns the complete copyrights to the Hobbit and LotR (except the book rights) and not from the Tolkien estate who own all of Tolkien's other work including the Silmarillion. When the ICE license was terminated, all its intellectual property relating the Tolkien, (i.e. Middle-earth characters invented by ICE but inspired by Tolkien) reverted to Tolkien enterprises, who, as far as I know, have no objection to its continued use by Mithril
by Chris Tubb.
I think all our fans will be satisfied at the list of 18 options to vote for. Remember one vote per member. You can add your personal comment why you voted for that option as well.
Also if you see two choices you like, you can always suggest one next month again for the next round. So choose wisely as Gandalf might say.
If you want to ask questions or make unrelated comments then DO NOT add it to this topic. Use the 'questions' thread. Have fun.
