Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is an single figure month, which means you can submit ideas for a single figure only, not multi-figure vignettes or one with furniture. The next 'open' month will be September. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE"this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 17th of June (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 16th. Second round voting will commence on the 24th. This will last until the 30th. All votes will end at 16.00 GMT or BST (british standard time). You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. Here is another try, I'll try to describe it in a better way my idea is to picture one of the Tolkien sides with A Beautiful Elf-Maiden Dancing. Tolkien often pictured great women, such as Galadriel, Eowyn, Arwen / Luthien. The immortality of the Elves was a well exploited thema by the Professor. I think the Mithril series deserves to add a piece like this to the Tolkien miniatures world A picture by Ted Nasmith :

HY ! FRIENDS
I suggest the master of the westfold, ERKENBRAND. EARKENBRAND is the officer of the Royal cavalry in this young age, and a major of the helm. After the death of Theodred, Earkenbrand assembles a west army and join gandalf to save the helm. It s an important hero for the victory of the helm battle .
i see him on the horse with an great sword to the sky.

Hello All!
I am suggesting [glow=red,2,300]Duinhir lord of Morthond![/glow] I am not sure if he was a bowmen like his sons, but can be. Or he can have a sword going forward in the air. From the uplands of Morthond, the great Blackroot Vale, tall Duinhir with his sons, Duilin and Derufin, and five hundred bowmen. - The Return of the King.

Second try for the Dead, thanks for the great support, fellows! perhaps it is just the right way, first the victory of the Living, then the Dead... DEAD RIDER ON DEAD HORSE from the paths of the DeadI suggest of course again the ghost rider. just as a mounted figure this month In my mind the ghostly horse and warrior should not be just moving bones, but more haggard or gaunted bodies with ragged gear. ( Remember the poor dudes haven't had any food or drink for many years... cursed oathbreakers! ) Have a look: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.htmlCheers! Hwolf

Mae govannen members of the Mithril fellowship
as I would like to see this one as a miniature (and my Elves Rumil and Orophin had not such a great chance (too many men in that forum, no elves no dwarves) , I suggest my royal one again:
As loving the Dunedain and the Gondorians of Mithril I would suggest
[glow=red,2,300]Earnur[/glow], the last (33th) and most ambitious of the Kings of Gondor
As Chris' mounted figures are always looking great, I would suggest him (Earnur and not Chris!! ) on a horse, in Gondorian fine armour, with nice ornately edged cloak, a fine sword at his side, holding a spear and a very nice royal shield, also more elaborated. I suggest he has longer hair than normal humans, NO HELMET ( because he likes to see his enemies and does not like any hindering protection), his hair is flowing in the wind.
He should not look to much like Theoden, but maybe with a rearing horse, attacking the witch King.
The best thing of it: Earnur can be put in front of the so beloved Witch King of Angmar(maybe his horse is dreaded and not attacking?? )
Just a quote: I think Earnur should not look like the typical to hard plate mailed knight as the Gondorians of the 3rd age in the movies nor like the Last Alliance heroes of the Mithril range. I think he should look royal but still a little bit more wild and willing to fight.
So that's it!
I hope to see one day mounted Rangers of the North as Halbarad is one of my favorites.
VOTE FOR THJE DUNEDAIN
It is the Age of men, but of true men? as Castamir ( a hidden suggestion?? ) said.
Regards Estel

TROLL DRUMMER For this month I am going to suggest a troll drummer (I don't know if this has ever been suggested before). I picture the troll as holding a triangular frame in its right arm which holds a fairly flat (dwarf-skin!!) drum, while its left arm holds a stone headed drum stick. The troll could be at the Pelennor, the Drum Beater in Moria, or in the host of trolls charging the Captains of the West standing at bay on the slag-hills before the Black Gates At each angle of the frame a skull would be stuck on so that the frame doesn't stick into the trolls scaley hide!! I would ideally like to see it designed along the lines of the MX Troll - the best depiction in my mind of a troll to date. I hope to have a sketch for Michael shortly for the gallery.

This is why I think Shield Maiden of the Horse Lords is a good idea for this month... Inspired by this Liz Danforth image: I am resubmitting this idea. The figure is a companion piece to the Frumgar MX model, or perhaps to Eorl and Felarof. I suspect that Eowyn is not "a" shield maiden, but that she is described as an echo of a half forgotten mythic past, when the Horse Lords dwelled in the north of the world. The shield maiden is such an echo. She is an image of the Northmen in their prime, as they fought the Easterlings in Rhovanion, and strove against Angmar in the Anduin vales. The shield maiden is dressed in fine skirts and cloaked, but she also wears a mail birnie and carries a long spear. She is young, beautiful, but battle wise and born of a warlike people. She bears the horse sigil on her shield, and her long hair billows out behind her in the chill north wind. Her horse is galloping free, charging towards battle, alongside her lord and king. Gavin

[shadow=black,left,300]Thorongil in the service of Ecthelion II[/shadow]From Appendix A (sorry for the long quotes, but they are just so lovely). "In much he (Ecthelion II) did he had the aid and advice of a great captain whom he loved above all. Thorongil men called him in Gondor, the Eagle of the Star, for he was swift and keen-eyed, and wore a silver star upon his cloak; but no one knew his true name nor in what land he was born. He came to Ecthelion from Rohan, where he had served the King Thengel, but he was not one of the Rohirrim. He was a great leader of men, by land or by sea, but departed into the shadows whence he came, before the days of Ecthelion were ended."
"Thorongil often counselled Ecthelion that the strength of the rebels in Umbar was a great peril to Gondor, and a threat to the fiefs of the south that would probe deadly, if Sauron moved to open war. At last he got leave of the Steward and gathered a small fleet, and he came to Umbar unlooked for by night and there burned a great part of the ships of the Corsairs. He himself overthrew the Captain of the Haven in battle upon the quays..."
"With him (Gandalf) he made many perilous journeys, but as the years wore on he went more often alone. His ways were hard and long, and he became somewhat grim to look upon, unless he chanced to smile; and yet he seemed to Men worthy of honour, as a king that is in exile, when he did not hide his true shape. For he went in many guises, and won renown under many names. He rode in the host of the Rohirrim, and fought for the Lord of Gondor by land and by sea; and then in the hour of victory he passed out of the knowledge of Men of the West, and went alone far into the East and deep into the South uncovering the plots and devices of the servants of Sauron."
"Thus he became at last the most hardy of living Men, skilled in their crafts and lore, and was yet more than they; for he was elven-wise, and there was a light in his eyes that when they were kindled few could endure. His face was sad and stern because of the doom that was laid on him, and yet hope dwelt ever in the depths of his heart, from which mirth would arise at times like a spring from the rock." He could be in gear of [glow=black,2,300] Gondor[/glow] with a bit of [glow=green,2,300] Rohan[/glow] influence because of his time in the service of Thengel, but he must have the silver star. Pose and context (in battle, traveling, etc.) is up to Chris.

Mae govannen Wendy, nice suggestion, there are still so many good ideas and figures who are so mythical reminding one about the atmosphere while reading the books. If my own suggestion (As usual ) will not win one round, I think have to support Thorongil! Namarie ESTEL

Merry blowing the Horn of Rohan
Since horses seem to be named in this round, I propose (again) Merry, on a standing pony, blowing the horn of Rohan to rally the Shire. If mounts are out for this round, I pass.

I recommend a Dorwinion Wine Merchant.
She would be a single figure with a "Tolkienesque" Eastern appearance. She would be clad in functional robes for a merchant (of any age Chris wanted), and a belt holding a money-pouch. A ledger containing bill of sale information in one hand, and a bottle of wine in the other, complete the idea.
This idea has been mentioned in earlier posts, in a different pose; any suggestions are welcome.
