A quick note to let you know about the long delayed Maria gate. The entire piece, together with the entwined trees that frame the doorway and some ground work is currently measuring about 90mm by 90mm which is proving too large to cast as a metal piece. We are investigating the possibility of casting in resin and will update members as soon as we have any news. by Chris Tubb.
Thanks to all the members who submitted these ideas. The 13 options should certainly prove worthy contenders for this month. This vote ends on the 24th at 16.00 GMT. The 2nd round will begin on the 25th. I ask all members to vote. The top 3 or 4 favourtes will go into the final round.

Doing it in resin is certainly a good idea, especially since this will (probably) open up the Resin way for a variety of other special kits. The door of Bagend comes to my mind, but I am sure there are a LOT of other ideas out there for mini dioramas.

Looking forward to the gate - finances with 4 children has slowed me down a lot recently however I'm in for the long haul so I will be back!

Four children? Respect! I´ve got only three and always thought this would be enough . . .

I try to avoid children. Little metal figures and two pesky cats are enough trouble. (joke!) Erm, yes. So, Vote For The Shield Maiden! Think: something dynamic, attractive and vibrant. A companion piece to MX Frumgar or the MS Eorl. Perhaps a MERP figure. Perhaps an Eowyn in battle for that brief shining hour before Theoden was unhorse, and Eowyn confronted to her destiny. Beauty and power and action in one figure. Gavin

The door of Bagend comes to my mind, but I am sure there are a LOT of other ideas out there for mini dioramas. Few months ago, I suggested to realize a serial about famous gates of Middle-earth (Minas Tirith, Cirith Ungol, Dunharrow, Bag-end, entrance of Three trolls' cavern, east gate of moria, Bree, Minas Morgul, Shelob's lair...)... and I'm happy to see other Mithril-maniacs are hoping to see these ones featured ;D

Well the Gate of Moria seems to be much more than I imagined it to be, but sounds fantastic once the technical difficulties are overcome; my original Eowyn and Nazgul boxed set had a base cast in resin (the second was in white metal) so hopefully that will resolve the issue.
On to the vote, well I’ve voted for the Troll Drummer, just think of how many armies of the Dark Lord he could be leading in different scenarios, or could he be the beater of the drum in Moria, or even urging the Mordor host at the Black Gates perhaps.
So vote Troll, vote Evil, vote for the destruction of the Lords of the West! ;D

I have voted for the Troll. It has been too long since we had a new troll, except for that very rare MX. Even the updated classics are not getting an updated troll.

There are several good choices here! I'm surprised that the Dead Rider isn't getting more votes. And the Dorwinrim wine merchant.
