Well we certainly have a choice selection this month. All excellent suggestions and I look forward to seeing who will succeed.
There were a lot of votes that went to suggestions that did not make it to the finals. That means there is a lot of support that the finalist need to grab to win. I will ask, as usual, that all members vote. Every vote counts.
You can also post comments on the suggestions. This vote ends at 16.00 GMT on Sept 30th 2007.
You can also submit images for the gallery.

Well I’ve got the ball rolling with a vote for Celebrimbor fighting Annatar . From the initial idea description this sounds like a superb idea for a release. We only get the opportunity to suggest a bigger release every so often and I think this would look great on the shelf.

I have voted for Celebrimbor and Annatar of course.
I d like to see Elfhelm too, but i think that this figure will be more suited for a 'mounted' month. we should appreciate the 'open' months with something special. - and Annatar vs. Celebrimbor definetly can deliver that.

I gave my vote to Celebrimbor and Annatar. Hopefully he will win this time ;-) But no matter how the fight will end, I assume that Chris will (again) design a superb miniature. Stift

Since I prefer single figures to vignettes, I've voted for Elfhelm.

A Noldo Prince in battle! Strong, fierce and mighty like only few of Illuvatar´s first born children! I didn´t want to smell Annatar´s trousers in that fight!

I really wonder how Annatar would be represented, but it shall not be forgotten that in the end that's Celebrimbor's body which stands on top of a pike....

Of course I voted for Celebrimbor & Annatar ... I hope that they will make it first across the finish line and that Chris will design as superb vignette!!!

As I know we can submit suggestions from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The fight between Celebrimbor and Annatar is only mentioned, not actually happening. So does it mean we can have other characters, which are "JUST MENTIONED" in the novel??? They are also part of it, aren't they?
I voted for Frodo and Gollum, much more a key scene, if not the ultimative scene in LotR at all...

hwolf, my sentiments exactly!
Frodo and Gollum at the Cracks of Doom is THE ultimate scene from the books yet to be depicted by Chris, and likely to cost less than the other two worthy suggestions, for those who need to watch their pocketbooks--especially in the US where e50 is now $70! In another forum, a wise bartender wonders whether members who vote for the most expensive pieces actually buy them.
And what of the licensing issues regarding Annatar and Celebrimbor? Are we able to ask for a Luthien now?
Also, we have had scores of fighters, mounted or otherwise, but not had hobbits for a long, long time!
Vote Frodo and Gollum at the Cracks of Doom!

If I remember correctly, characters who appear in the Silmarillion are off limits. The story of Annatar and Celebrimbor gets not much more coverage in the Silmarillion then in LoTR, and thus is not exactly a central character of that book. Perhaps it would be wise to check with TE, though. No vignette or mini, regardless how good, would be worth to loose the license (well, perhaps Feanor with an actual Silmaril).
Anyway, Frodo and Gollum got my vote, though I like the Annatar and Celebrimbor, too. Elfhelm is imho better served in a mounted month, though he is certainly lacking a representation among the characters yet.

Since this is an 'open' month and not a 'vignettes only' month, Elfhelm surely has as much right to be here as any other figure? (And is there such a thing as a 'mounted month' - I wasn't aware of that, but perhaps I haven't been paying attention.) Besides, for those of us without inexhaustible bank accounts he's the most affordable of the three finalists! The vignettes can be discouragingly expensive...

Agreed Barli – an open month should be just that. Perhaps like Michael has suggested to Axel (I think) on another thread if enough members were happy, some months could be designated to mounted figures (including foot if no suitable mounted suggestion were made) specifically.
I’m sure Celebrimbor and Annatar would have been omitted by CT out if they didn’t fit in with the licensing agreement.
Re the cost of the ‘big-uns’, it is the down-side, but on the other hand there is unlikely to be any other place this side of the Great Divide where scenes like Celebrimbor and Annatar, Thorin Entombed, Sauron on Gorgoroth etc. will ever see the light of day. I can’t recall how many open months there are per year, perhaps if it is reduced to one per year (I know some of the US members are feeling the pinch with the $ rate against the Euro) it would help.
Or as a thought to ponder (which might not fit in with Mithril’s marketing plans), as the GF is the source of some outstanding ideas, and Mithril cannot sell wargaming stuff, just collectibles, could GF member’s suggestions be used as a source for Mithril’s line of Vignettes which are open to a greater audience and would cost less. That way we can continue with the great ideas, without having to worry quite so much about the enormous cost of a very limited production run such as GF numbers.
The vignette range is great to my mind and ‘collectibles’ don’t come closer than that!
An ideal first candidate could of course be Frodo and Gollum at the Cracks of Doom.
(duck Barli, watch that arrow)

MAE GOVANNEN, How the hell should anyone decide fairly, which is the favorite one of those candidates? It is impossible to decide which is my favourite, but to support the key-scenes of Tolkiens world and because of financial reasons (and I like the discussion of the "older fellows" ) I voted for Frodo and Gollum at Mount Doom. As I once said: Do lots of clones of C.T. and let the clones design and create and cast figures and vignettes for Mithril day and night . So let's see if there will be old Elves or tiny little hobbits fighting each other. NAMARIE ESTEL

We now get to the stage where the contenders start twitching and looking over their (suggestions) shoulders. The race is far from over, The Cracks of Doom are making a surge, how will it all end

Besides, for those of us without inexhaustible bank accounts he's the most affordable of the three finalists! The vignettes can be discouragingly expensive... (Dons helmet and awaits reactions.) I thought that I had made it clear that an 'open' month ment that a single figure, mounted figure, duo-figure or vignettes were allowed. This means that if all the members wish to vote for Gollum eating a fish (small figure example) or Gandalf being rescued by a Great Eagle from the Orthanc Tower (Vignette) then it was allowed. Just be aware that the costs will vary accordingly. We at mithril prefer single figures as they are quicker for Chris to make and therefore does not tie up his schedule too much. Vignettes are always a much more difficult release.
