Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is an open figure month, which means you can submit ideas for a single figure, mounted figures or multi-figure vignettes or one with furniture. Please be aware that the more complex the suggestion the more costly it will be when completed so it is often a case of 'less is more'. NOTE: We have stated we will not do the following: Watcher in the lake, Old man Willow, Grond or the Gate of Moria. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 18th of September (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 17th. Second round voting will commence on the 24th. This will last until the 30th of September. All votes will end at 16.00 GMT or BST (british standard time). You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Hello, friends! My suggestion for this month is "IMRAHIL, PRINCE OF DOL AMROTH". The line of the Princes of Dol Amroth, though they were certainly Men, in fact claimed to measure of Elvish blood. It was claimed that the first Prince, Galador, was half-elven: his to father was Imrazôr the Númenórean, but his to mother was an Elf-maid, Mithrellas. Imrahil was Galador's direct descendant through twenty-one generations, and under could himself claim distant descent from Mithrellas. I imagine to Imrahil mounted in his horse, with his winged helm in one of his hands, adorned with a beautiful silver-plated armor and carrying one long sword to his flank, arriving at Minas Tirith in defense of the city to the front of his knights.

[glow=pink,2,300]King Brand and King Dain fighting back to back[/glow]I shall bring back an old chestnut once again: I will suggest a variation of King Brand and King Dain. I envision the two standing back to back in desperate defense fighting against the servants of Sauron in the War of the Ring. (The enemy is implied, not actually part of the scene.) Maybe King Brand is defending and Dain is in full swing with his ax or using it like a club. Shields of both are well dented and cut. Maybe Brand has already lost his. King Brand falls first, then Dain defends his body. Such heroism seems like it would deserve a figure being made. If one would like expand the scene and put in some enemies against which to fight, there are plenty of orcs and such to add from regular releases. Two figures shouldn't be too pricey. From Unfinished Tales, Gandalf speaking about the Battle of Dale, March 17, 3018: "But Dain Ironfoot was a worthy successor. And now we hear that he fell fighting before Erebor again, even while we fought here. I should call it a heavy loss, if it is not a wonder rather than in his great age he could still wield his axe as mightily as they say he did, standing over the body of King Brand before the Gate of Erebor until darkness fell.
It might have gone very differently indeed. The main attack was diverted southwards, it is true; and yet even so with his farstretched right hand Sauron could have done terrible harm in the North, while he defended Gondor, if King Brand and King Dain had not stood in his path."

I was contemplating to forward a "Knight of Dol Amroth", preferably in full charge, this month, but that would conflict with Prince Imrahil. While I realize that we already have a Knight of Dol Amroth, it is only within a vignette. Anyway, I keep that for the next "mounted" month. Nice suggestions, for now. Now back to the drawing board for another suggestion...

hi all together i am a collector since 1990 and a member of the fellowship for quite some time, but this is actually my first post. so i hope my suggestion will enrich you and find your support.
since i liked previous ideas and sadly noticed the defeat of celebrimbor last month, my suggestion is a vignette:
Annatar in battle with Celebrimbor at the stairs to the smithies of eregion
i actually have two ideas, regarding if the stairs go up or down.
first: up: 3-5 steps of the slightly curved stairs, broadening the way down, with celebrimbor charging downward. he is wearing a light plate armor. he is one step down, leaned forward, his right arm slightly backward and his sword pointing at his opponent, ready to pierce. his left arm, armored with a metal glove (extended to the elbow/like gladiators had) is used as a shield to ward of evil. - on the basis annatar is standing, also a step forward, his sword-arm raised high (similar to isildur), demanding the 3 elven rings. his fist turned to celebrimbor, so he can see the one ring on his sword-hand. he is clad in the same light elven armor as celebrimbor (to mock him maybe) but it looks a little bit torn. his head is raised high (at least his nose) and his light hair is raised by the might of his aura (not just blown in the wind).
second: down: annatar is stepping two steps at once down into the smithies, holding his circlet in his left hand (swinging backward) to release his sweaty hair while threatening celebrimbor with his outstretched sword-arm (i remember the boromir with the orc set) and demanding the three elven rings. the fist of his sword-grasping hand is turned upward to show the one ring. celebrimbor is half leaning against the forge (or half sitting on an anvil) using his sword-arm (with his sword) to push himself up again. his left arm with his arm-shield (armored glove) hold high to ward off annatars demanding and piercing view. the clothing should be like in the first, except, that celebrimbors armor is damaged too.
suggest which idea you like more or find out, if the stairs were actually going up to a building or down into the dungeons.

ELFHELM
I'm suggesting the same unsung (and thus far unrepresented in the Mithril range) LOTR hero as I suggested last month - Elfhelm, Marshal of the Mark, on horseback, blowing a horn as he leads the charge of the Rohirrim right flank across the Pelennor Fields.
As I said before, I'd rather like to have been Elfhelm: he survived both battles of the Fords of Isen, the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, and the harrying of the army of Easterlings and Orcs in Anorien, seemingly unscathed. My kind of guy!

Mae govannen, Too many good ideas this month and to many ideas in my mind. As I painted lots of Elves last time and thought, that no Elf- miniatures were ever as good as the good old Mithril/Chris Tubbs vision of Elven people and collectors seem to like them I try it again: I would like to see the three Elven guards: [glow=white,2,300][shadow=beige,left,300]HALDIR, RUMIL and OROPHIN[/shadow][/glow]. I would like to see a mixture of Thingol, Lorien Elven guardsman and Elrohir already existing as miniatures. They should be armed with bow, spear and their nice Elven swords. I would suggest a little arrogant and aristocratic look, like Thingol, but friendly on the other side. Elves always seemed to me a little bit arrogant but wise and friendly on the other side. Please NO figure in a fighting pose, more in a "I am watching"- pose. Chris will do it perfectly the best way!! Maybe a vignette could depict Frodo in the back, while the Elves are talking to each other, but I would prefer three single miniatures in ONE pack (something new for a fellowship release ) Some times ago aelfwine asked to make Mithril figures more friendly to conversions and that's what I think. Why not give the chance to give the figures the weapons the customer like (e.g. choosing between bow and spear would be great ) Give the Eldar a chance. Namarie, and all turns to silver glass!!

OK, after consultation with my family, here it comes...
Weathertop
Depicting the close encounter of Frodo and the Witchking at Weathertop
I imagine the vignette to capture the moment shortly before the Witchking strikes and Frodo slashes at him in defiance.
Frodo has already succumbed to putting on the Ring but has gained the courage to draw his sword, looking at the oncoming ringwraith. The Witchking, confident of his victory, approaches with sword and Morgul dagger in his hands. He is depicted as Frodo sees him, not in his usual Nazgul form.
For the Vignette, Sam may be standing nearby, confused and frightened by Frodos sudden vanishing, and Merry and/or Pippin may be laying on the ground, covering their faces. The other Nazgul and Aragorn will be too far away for a small vignette, but I am open for a surprise.
Weathertop is one of those scenes that are contorted by the movie depiction (Ruins? Slurs?). Covered by only one page in the book, the scene of the assault on Weathertop and Frodos subsequent injury play a major part in their quest and his later life. This vignette also offers the chance to see the Witchking in a form that has not yet been made.

Hi, I would like to return to an old idea of mine : 'Dead of Ugluk'. I read in a Tolkien guide that Ugluk was slain by Eomer, who first dismounted from his horse. So I imagine the scene as Ugluk, wounded and down on his knees, he may still be armed, and Eomer, dismounted, stepping forward and raising his sword to give him the final blow.

Hello fellows!
My suggestion this month:
THE HUNT FOR THE FAMOUS BOAR OF EVERHOLT
In timeage 2864 there was a unusal huge and wild boar ravaging the fields and countryside of Rohan and scaring the people. During a famous hunt King Folca of Rohan slayed the boar in the Firienwood, the exactly place where it happened was called Everholt. But the King also died of the wounds given him by the wild beast's tusks. Folca was the thirteenth King of Rohan (Timeage 2804 - 2864). He was a great hunter and killed the last orcs remaining in Rohan from the invasion of 2799.
So my suggestion is a nice, fellowship club worthy vignette showing the Boar-hunt. I imagine at least King Folca and another Rohir hunter, one or two hunting dogs and of course the huge boar.
I'm going to sent a picture to Mike.
Model trees and already existing Rohan riders or figures with bows and spears could easily be added to the scene to make a interesting diorama
Cheers, hwolf

Bert The Troll and BilboIm sure we would all like to see the three trolls from the hobbit at some point but in the meantime I personally would love to see Chris turn his attention to Bilbos encounter with Bert. The SceneBilbo is caught trying to pick Williams pocket and a discussion follows about what Bilbo is and whether he can be eaten '" Here you, are there any more of your sort a sneaking around these here woods yer nassty little rabbit" said he looking at the hobbits furry feet; and he picked him up by the toes and shook him. Roast Mutton - The Hobbit The Model? This is my favourite episode of the Hobbit and I would love to see Bert holding Bilbo by the foot high above his head so that he is eyeball to eyeball with the inverted Hobbit. Bert could have a skewer in his other hand ready for a quick and tasty Hobbit kebab! Just a thought

As this is a vignette month, only one of four all year, I suggest again:
[glow=red,2,300]Frodo and Gollum at the Cracks of Doom! [/glow]
On a slightly raised base to represent the ledge overlooking the Cracks of Doom, Frodo would kneel, holding up a hand missing a finger. Gollum would be dancing on the edge of the raised base over Frodo, holding aloft the Ring.
Sam could be place at the far edge of the base, in a pose as running towards Frodo and Gollum.
As the two Hobbits and Gollum are small, the expense to produce this should be reasonable.
This scene is the culmination of the Books, the point at which Sauron is defeated and the West has won! This scene should become a Mithril Vignette!

CELEBRIMBOR DEFENDING THE GATES OF THE GWAITH-I-MIRDAIN AGAINST ANNATAR
Funny that like ferisam I have never posted a suggestion so far. I have been with the fellowship since its beginning and was always dreaming about a vignette of Celebrimbor defending the gates of his beloved Gwaith-i-Mirdain during the sack of Ost-in-Edhil. So I very strongly support the idea of ferisam with Annatar (Sauron in fair shape) in battle with Celebrimbor.
The Celebrimbor figure could follow the general suggestion of last month but in a very defensive and backwards moving posture with a slender Noldorin long sword grasped with both hands held diagonal in front of the upper part of the body.
Annatar should wear an elegant mail shirt paired with flowing robes. He should look more dynamic - still fresh in battle. The armour should be without any decorative elements like flowers, shells or so on which would be the way of the Elven smiths. As a former servant of Aule, Annatar’s armour would of course be made by himself and maybe it had survived the downfall of the First Age during his time in the service of Morgoth. So some practical elements would be more appropriate than style.
I like the idea of Annatar trying to bring Celebrimbor to his knees by the power of the One Ring. Therefore the Annatar miniature should be stretching out one arm with the hand formed to a fist directly pointing at Celebrimbor. ferisam’s suggestion with the stairs could be used for Annatar coming down the stairs and so visually standing “above” Celebrimor and looking down on him – giving the impression of already having the upper hand in this final duel of the greatest smiths of the Second Age.
Hope you like AND support the idea!!!!!

It is good to see at last some of the as yet 'un-sung' members of the GF finally raising their voices and submitting suggestions , it has been a long time coming, please continue to do so! There are some fantastic suggestions already this month of which three stick out particularly at the moment - The Easterling Chariot by Bombadil (if that was copied exactly as the picture it would be an immediate classic I'm sure), Gildors Crowning of Elessar and the Celibrimbor and Annatar scene, but then Axel's Weathertop, Wendy's Dain and Brand, The Crack of Doom, and Dol Amroth are again figures/scenes I would love to have in my collection. The Death of Ugluk is something I personally have already adapted, but is nonetheless another strong suggestion (to be truthful all suggestions so far have been strong this month) to think about. I have had a good run lately and am going to relax this month and vote for what I believe is the release I would like to paint - I hope future votes will now gain the support of the 'new posters' and prove that there is still a whole lot of fresh ideas out there ! This has been a very inspiring month.

You should combine the Celembrimbors into one suggestion, for else it could be that votes divide between them and they could fail to reach the second round or the win despite sufficient support.

High.. My very first attempt to vote for an idea of a very wished Mithril outcome.. there 's so many. .. I don't if i ll be
What about a new série concerning dioramas and even rolegames, with ten topics... ! For a new M Serie 1. The Bag's end entrance. 2. Prancing poney entrance in Bree. 3. Weathertop ruin or statue. 4. The broken Anduril in Rivendell. 5. Galadriel's mirror. 6. Lorien boat in the way of Ness Yawl. Andui boat for the fellowship. 7. The Palantir in Orthanc. 8. A stall in the Goldenn hall, for Meharas 9. The Fountain in Minas Tirith. 10. The door to Mount doom.
I'm afraid to be out of rules for september vote wit the idea above , so my very first Idea would be to suggest a little scene with Smeagol and Deagol abord a round curragh fishing, deagol nearly falling in with a fish captured... The Unique again...
Thank's a lot s again.
Kind regards to green Ireland

i agree with axel, that both ideas of annatar versus celebrimbor should be combined, and i like the design adds from hmahrer. for my part it should not be a problem. whatever is possible, is in the end up to the master figure maker anyway.
i would regard the basic design and agree to the coming-down variation (that hmahrer liked) and submit to the more dynamic annatar version. but i would still like to see the 'armguard' gauntlet of celebrimbor, even if he is blocking with a sword. first, it is kind of a personal thing related to my older 'merp' days, and second, we have a lot of wielded swords, spears, axes, or held bows, shields and so on, and i like to see something new or different. and i still would like to see annatar with a sword pointing at celebrimbor. but, as i said before (which should not object hmahrers vision) with the grasping fist turned upward so the ring is visible and the sword a visible extension of the piercing will of annatar (and the ring).
i hope this will clear matters and help to create one combined idea. i ll check regularly until the deadline, if questions need to be answered.

Thierry, great idea, though dioramas needs larger resin pieces, which is a totally other field then metal miniatures, both in design and casting.
I think a new thread in the forum would be the best place to discuss these. We already had some suggestions regarding such ideas, like the Westgate or Bagend. Just repeat that posting there, and I will gladly join into detailed debate.
BTW: Weathertop - as in the book - takes place in a dell without noted terrain, not on top of the hill among the ruins. Staying true to the book would make that one a bit dull.
BTW2: Smeagol and Deagol abord a round curragh - See M83 (probably not readily available, but hunt for it at eBay).

My choice for this month is Elladan and Elrohir in combat before the Black GateElladan and Elrohir, the Dunedain of the North, and Prince Imrahil's household stand at the centre of the line of the Free Peoples as Sauron's host issues forth from the Morannon. Elladan and Elrohir are dressed in Ranger garb - but, as noted earlier "And have you marked the brethren Elladan and Elrohir? Less sombre is their gear than the others, and they are fair and gallant as Elven lords..." As Rangers they would have been garbed thus: "A little apart the Rangers sat, silent, in an ordered company, armed with spear and bow and sword. They were clad in cloaks of grey, and their hoods were cast now over helm and head...." Moreover, we see them described as... "So much alike were they, the Sons of Elrond, that few could tell them apart: dark haired, grey eyed, and their faces Elven fair, clad alike in bright mail, beneath cloaks of silver-grey." I imagine the sons of Elrond, perhaps one loosing a bow, the other armed with a spear, looking towards yet another foe approaching. At their feet, a dead orc lies, perhaps a dead Ranger of the North, too. Before them, an Uruk of Mordor is leaping towards them, his axe at the ready.... The scene is dynamic, violent and exciting. It is a moment trapped in time, like the Swan Knights diorama. The north wind is at the back of the heroes. The orc is full of rage and movement. But the Sons of Elrond and calm, fearless and grim. And that's mail. Not plate. Mail. Alternately, something like this: Gavin
