Mae govanne mellon, why not supporting Grishnakh? ;D This figure would nicely complement the upcoming release of Theodred, son of Theoden and heir of the throne of Rohan. Both died in Rohan, both because of the war of the Rohirrim against the dark forces. Maybe Grisnakh had played one part or another in the killing of Theodred? NAMARIE estel

Wasn't the last vote open, too? Last vote was supposed to be 'blind' but I must have been distracted while I was working on it and forgot to set that feature.

Sorry, never heard about female assassines by Tolkien. Okay, I even never heard about a prince of the black squirrels . . .
But this time it´s a bad guy for me. A smaller one.

Certainly the small ugly guy is the only one of these I'd buy if he won, and the only one derived from Tolkien's writings (female assassins in Tolkien? - no way; and his 'half-trolls' were tribesmen from Far Harad, and nowt to do with Angmar...)

Vote for Grishnakh !!
Personaly, the other choices are good too. Personaly, i think female assassins are certainly not included in TOLKIEN stories but Middle-earth is a wide land and a lot of countries never were described by TOLKIEN in his books !

Neither of the previous half-trolls produced by Mithril had to do with Far Harad. Certainly the Witch King had all of the necessary resources to produce them; Trolls, humans, orcs, a diabolical mind, arcane knowledge, and time.

Er, I think there's some confusion going on here between Olog-hai and half-trolls. They're not the same thing at all... In Tolkien's world, half-trolls categorically come from Far Harad, and aren't trolls at all, simply powerfully-built tribesmen who're described as being 'like half-trolls'.

I suggested and voted for the Female Assassin. Happily, many members support this idea.
Some of the above comments bring up a good point. Do we as a membership only want characters specifically named in the LOTR and Hobbit (and those such as "warrior with spear" or something similar that was obviously a part of the published works)?
Or do we as a membership want to be able to suggest figures that were not specifically mentioned in the LOTR and the Hobbit?
I have great confidence in this membership to vote for good suggestions, and in Chris and Mithril to set good guidelines for us. I believe that JRR Tolkien meant what he said when he stated (and I paraphrase) that he felt the whole story was untold, with parts that would be filled in "by other hands."
Now it might be true that some, especially Tolkien Estates, regret that JRR sold certain rights to these properties to Tolkien Enterprises for less than he ever realized they might be worth, and allowed others to use his works as a base story to develop a far reaching work of interpretation and embellishment of the original tales. But it has already happened, and thankfully, for that is how Mithril came to be in the first place!
So every member of Mithril's FG can vote for which figure they like, and respect to all who vote. And it would be even better if more members actually submitted ideas every month! But this thought somehow that anything not specifically mentioned in the body of the books shouldn't be considered is against--in general--what Tolkien stated he wanted for his works.
PS. If the orc or the half-troll wins, I'll be just as happy as if the Female Assassin of Dol Amroth wins, as I know that Chris will make a terrific sculpt of any of them.

I prefer to have all-comers suggested and made - it is what I choose to call them when painted and added to my little scenes that matters most to me.
Many of the non 'real' Tolkien characters that have been produced have been used by myself to represent named characters (in the absence of that particular chracter in the range) and as I have mentioned in the past this is what gives Mithril an even greater appeal to me.
There are of course those collectors who only want named characters which is fair enough.
As I don't do the ICE stuff, RPG etc. I do have a lack of enthusiasm for certain suggestions which I can't use for other things, but on the whole, the wider the range of suggestions the better.

At the end of the day we all want different things from the Fellowship range and are less or more happy with some suggestions than we are with others. Of course, we have the option of not voting for those we don't like, and we don't have to buy them if they win (so long as there are enough other figures in a year that we do like!). But it seems to me that since there's only one company licensed to produce figures from The Hobbit and LOTR books - you're looking at it - it makes more sense to have them make figures that are FROM those books, and not inventions.

True, Barli, only one licensed for now! But we are talking about a tradition (Mithril) and an artist (Chris) and he has created most of the named, and hinted at, characters in the Trilogy and the Hobbit. Even you are tired of Hobbits, if I remember right, and they are as central to the story as any characters. What? are we to say, "well, there's only ten more (or whatever the number) and when those are done, so is the Mithril FG?" I hope not!!!
As long as Chris and Mithril are willing to continue this indulgence of us (and profit by it), I say let's go on and may the best suggestion each month win! But just because an unmade named character is suggested doesn't mean all of the rest of the members shouldn't suggest something different, and if that something different happens to win, the Fellowship must have liked it better.
For now, it looks like Grishnakh will prevail, and I am very happy, as he was my second choice out of our few suggestions.

Well, the list of suggestions elsewhere on this site seems to indicate that there remain sufficient unmade figures from JRRT's books to last many years yet! And there are plenty of people who'd argue that we haven't even got through "most of the named, and hinted, characters" yet. What about Ingold? Hirgon? Angbor of Lamedon? Bombur? Ori (Dori, Oin, etc)? Haldir and his brothers? Thorongil? etc etc - not to mention sundry torch-bearers and spear-carriers and vignettes. Anyway, the voting has settled this debate (for now...), since it indicates that the Felloswhip does, indeed, prefer 'real' characters taken from the books so long as the choice is there.

Congratulations to Estel for getting an orc to win the second round of voting! I know the poll is not closed yet but it will be soon. Thanks for your congratulations, as I am proud to have suggested successfully the first single Orc- GF- figure. But it is too soon to be sure, that this is the winner. If Grisnakh wins, I hope Chris is doing a real character model and not just a "cannonfodder- Orc". I'm sure Chris will do right. NAMARIE estel and THANKS to all supporting Grishnakh of Barad-Dur- the Dark Lord will remember this..... I am not sure, that I am the first GF member suggesting Grisnakh
