Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, NO Mounted options will apply. Examples of past single figures include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth hunter. Due to the increased workload on Chris, he has asked that we accept only single figure suggestions for the rest of the year. I know it will disappoint some members but what is the point in winning the vote if the figures never get made and Chris is trying to work on general releases as well. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 16th of July (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 15th (Tuesday). You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Well, I've suggested him before, and will dpoubtless suggest him again if he doesn't win:
INGOLD AT THE RAMMAS ECHOR
Ingold was the officer in command of the work detail repairing the outer walls of Gondor, the Rammas Echor, when Gandalf rode up to Minas Tirith from Rohan with Pippin. I've always envisaged him standing wrapped in a thick cloak for warmth and protection from the grey early morning mist, holding a torch up high so as to examine the riders' faces while he questions them. A nice simple figure of a guy with a 'talking part' in LOTR who has nevertheless never had a model made of him. And who knows, one day we might get a mounted Gandalf and Pippin combo and be able to complete a rather atmospheric vignette.
"It was twilight: the cold dawn was at hand again, and chill grey mists were about them. Shadowfax stood steaming with sweat, but he held his neck proudly and showed no sign of weariness. Many tall men heavily cloaked stood beside him, and behind them in the mist loomed a wall of stone. Partly ruinous it seemed, but already before the night was passed the sound of hurried labour could be heard: beat of hammers, clink of trowels, and the creak of wheels. Torches and flares glowed dully here and there in the fog. Gandalf was speaking to the men that barred his way".

I think it is the first time that suggests .... OHTAR, BEARING THE SHARDS OF NARSILThe history of Ohtar account the same Elrond to Boromir during the council at Rivendell: “…..From the ruin of the Gladden Fields, where Isildur perished, three men only came ever back over the mountains after long wandering. One of these was Ohtar, the esquire of Isildur, who bore the shards of the sword of Elendil; and he brought them to Valandil, the heir of Isildur, who being but a child had remained here in Rivendell. But Narsil was broken and its light extinguished, and it has not yet been forged again.(The Council of Elrond, The Fellowship of the Ring)”Tolkien don´t say (at least I nothing found) anything about how Ohtar managed to survive the ambush, nor was able to recover if other belongings of Isildur. It could represent Ohtar carrying above the coat of Isildur, as a tray, the Narsil´s fragments. Another idea is that Ohtar bear the fragments of the sword wrapped in a blanket and represents the moment at which the sample to those present at Rivendell. In any case he must be a type with proud bearing, as the squire of the king, while quite young. Best regards P.D. Tolkien spoke about the history of Ohtar in Unfinished Tales! Thank you for Shadyt to remind me. Very interesting history ... From Wikipedia: In the story "The Disaster of the Gladden Fields" found in Tolkien's Unfinished Tales, Ohtar was introduced as squire to Isildur, the Númenórean prince who defeated Sauron at the end of the Second Age. A few years later, they were leading a small army of Men when a huge force of Orcs attacked. Isildur saw that they were in great peril, and determined to save one of the great heirlooms of his people — the shards of Narsil, his father Elendil's sword. Isildur called Ohtar to his side; Tolkien wrote that Ohtar "was dear to Isildur and of his own kin," and suggested that Ohtar was not the squire's proper name but "probably only the title of address that Isildur used at this tragic moment, hiding his feelings under formality."
Isildur entrusted Ohtar with the broken sword and said, "Save it from capture by all means that you can find, and at all costs; even at the cost of being held a coward who deserted me. Take your companion with you and flee! Go! I command you!"
Isildur and virtually his entire army were soon wiped out by the Orc horde. The only other survivor was Estelmo, a young squire found "stunned and buried under fallen men," among them Elendur, Isildur's son.
Ohtar and his (unnamed) companion escaped the Orcs' onslaught, and delivered Narsil to Rivendell, where Isildur's youngest son Valandil was fostered. The shards were kept there until they were reforged into Andúril during the War of the Ring.

Idea Title: GOLFIMBUL OF MOUNT GRAMGolfimbul was the leader of the Goblins of Mount Gram (a place near Gundabad in the Misty Mountains). In 2747 Third Age he led a raid into western Eriador, where he crossed swords with Bandobras 'Bullroarer' Took. While he lost his head in this confrontation with the giant hobbit, Golfimbul was one of the few orcs mentioned that apparently acted independently, free from the will of the dark lord. Description: From under his iron cap gleamed two beady eyes and a wide, toothy smile. Toad-like, he carried his great belly proud, his weight supported by short, powerful legs and big, floppy feet. His weapon was a two-headed axe, which he swung with such disregard, other goblins often lost a limb or an ear when fighting alongside him. I realize suggesting another orc this soon is wishful thinking; however, I wanted to throw Golfimbul out there anyway as food for thought. If not this time, perhaps in the future this character might find his way into the ranks of Mithril Miniatures.

[glow=red,2,300]Boromir in armor at Osgiliath![/glow]
I am not sure if any have suggested this one before, so this is what I will suggest.
He needs to have chainmail and maybe some plate armor as well. Maybe his sword pointing forward leading the men of gondor while fighting at Osgiliath before he and Faramir destroyed the bridge there. Also, to have his shield which is mentioned in the FOTR before he left Rivendell.

Twrich, I know that it is your last month suggestion, but I'd like to have this figure and so I suggest it again:
FEMALE ASSASSIN OF DOL AMROTH!
The cover picture of the ICE adventure module "Assassins of Dol Amroth" gives a good impression how a female assassin could look like.

DENETHOR SON OF ECTHELION – STEWARD OF GONDORAppendix A – LotR“Denethor II was a proud man, tall valiant, and more kingly than any man that had appeared in Gondor for many lives of men; and he was wise also and far sighted, and learned in lore……” This is the passage after the departure of Thorongil, however…… My suggestion/s. I have submitted a sketch to Micheal illustrating my idea because it may be disqualified as this suggestion may not be technically viewed as a single figure in which case plan B will be the suggestion. Here goes. I envisage a figure of the younger Denethor standing tall and proud wearing mail and a heavy fur-lined cloak, now the stumbling point. I see a young Boromir (6 years old?) at his left side and an infant Faramir being held in his right arm (Boromir was 5 years older than Faramir). Boromir is blowing the great horn - as a young child would perhaps play with an object (which links the horn to Boromir in later years) while the baby Faramir is reaching out and grasping its rim. To make the three figures into one I would have Denethor’s cloak wrapped around Boromir while the infant Faramir is snuggled up to Denethor – the sketch would hopefully show what I mean. Anyhow, if that suggestion is not deemed a single figure (smaller than a single troll I would guess) then I will just submit plan B. Plan B [the younger] Denethor in mail with sword drawn and winding the great horn. Fingers crossed!!! David

A dwarf it could be next time:
[glow=brown,4,600]Narvi of Khazad-dûm[/glow]
as a stone cutter, mason or what else. One of two artists ever copied by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Thank you stift, I appreciate your suggesting her again. And I hope she makes it to the second round. And as I have said before, I wish for as many suggestions as possible, so I will probably make another one later. We are on holiday for the next week, but I will still try, because CHOICES are what make the Fellowship great. Who knows, it may be a named character, like Theodred who I suggested many times, which finally will be produced; or it may be an un-named character who most certainly inhabited Tolkien's "unpublished" world, like the female assassin of Dol Amroth!

well I have already found many great ideas for this month I really like the Ohtar, Boromir, and Golfimbul suggestions. But as I mentionned earlier, I have no ideas myself that I would find better than those already suggested, and besides... I am waiting for "free month" to resubmit vignettes ideas

Hobbit Farmer
This figure would be a hobbit, tired from his day at the field, he wears a farming tool (fork, pickaxe...) and a large hat to protec him from sun, he also wears an ample shirt, and dirt covered troussers.
That king of figure would find a good place in any village scene.

Thorin or Balin in a Barrel
I suggest either Thorin or Balin (both of whom gave Bilbo the most difficulty getting them into barrels) poking his head out of a barrel, with his hand balancing the top of the barrel on his head, and a none too happy look on his face.

Well, we have many good suggestions so far. I am especially happy to see the Female Assassin again.
But in keeping with my belief that the more suggestions we have the better, I nominate:
Arvedui, the Last King
Thus he was named by Malbeth the Seer, and the prophecy proved true. Arvedui made a brash and unsuccessful claim to the crown of Gondor before he was even the King of Arthedain based upon his marriage to Firiel, an heir to Isildur. In his tenth year as King of Arthedain, the Witch-king brought war to Arthedain, sacking the royal capital of Fornost.
Arvedui fled to the lands of the Lossoth by the Ice Bay of Forochel. With him he took the Palantiri of Amon Sul and Annuminas, which were lost at sea with King Arvedui during a failed rescue attempt by the Elves.
I envision Arvedui as being robed, with hood covering his head. His gear might be suited to cold weather, and he would hold one of the palantir in his hands, perhaps viewing a confusing scene portraying his death!

I would like to re-submit my earlier suggestion of Boromir blowing the Horn of Gondor. He could have his sword either raised or lowered depending on what Chris envisions as appropriate to the scene. Great suggestions by everyone this month!

I would like to suggest: Wandering Elf Maiden- MERP PC character AKA: Not Luthien at all, no siree bob. A tall adventuring Elven woman, dressed similarly to the LO 25 Gildor Inglorion, though with a fur collar on her cloak and a hood half thrown back. She is young by the reckoning of her people, and brave. She lets her hair grow long, but keeps it hidden under her hood. She is listening for enemies, in the snow. She has a long knife in her belt. Perhaps her hand is straying towards it. Perhaps she has some human blood - with softer, rounded ears. The Elf Maiden is an update of the Female Elf Scout and Female Elf Adventurer of old, but dressed practically for the north in the cold times of the year. I'm also thinking: maybe seperate left hands. One "open" and one holding a short bow?
