Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, NO Mounted options will apply. Examples of past single figures include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth hunter. Due to the increased workload on Chris, he has asked that we accept only single figure suggestions. I know it will disappoint some members but what is the point in winning the vote if the figures never get made and Chris is trying to work on general releases as well. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 17th of February (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 16th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Alright then .... I would like to suggest the
Female Orc
again.

Post by Stift on Jan 27, 2009 16:37:33 GMT
And also again:
Female assassin of Dol Amroth
This miniature has been suggested and described several times, no further explanation seems necessary. I hope it will be her month!
Best regards Stift

Ghan-buri- Gan again (could be a month of repeats ;D), I still think as a GF figure this character could be a lot more detailed than the M series figures, although I would be curious as to the interpretation of the WK at the Pelennor IF he does not have an Eowyn to face up to.

I'd prefer no to make any suggestion by now, but to support some of the ideas submitted by others last month --or even before. I particularly like Stift's Female assassin of Dol Amroth and Theobald's Female Orc, so anyone of them is good for me.

"Over the land there lies a long shadow, westward reaching wings of darkness. The Tower trembles; to the tombs of kings doom approaches. The Dead awaken; for the hour is come for the oathbreakers: at the Stone of Erech they shall stand again and hear there a horn in the hills ringing. Whose shall the horn be? Who shall call them from the grey twilight, the forgotten people? The heir of him to whom the oath they swore. From the North shall he come, need shall drive him: he shall pass the Door to the Paths of the Dead."
..."Then Elrohir gave to Aragorn a silver horn and he blew upon it;"....
1] Aragorn summoning the oathbreakers; either blowing the silver horn or holding it , and maybe the "Flame of the West" in the other, if not in hand deffinetly showing on the model

First of all Many Thanks to all members who voted for Celebrian – she finally made it and I want to encourage all other club members to resuggest their favourites if they don't make it a month!
I whould remind collector fellows and new members to have a look at Axels awesome overview list of previous suggestions: mithrilfigures.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=july2005&action=display&thread=159
My suggestion this time: King Elessar in Royal Armour at the Morannon GateFacing the Mouth of Sauron or commanding his host of the West. I think that whould be a great miniature without doubt. Cheers and bring up great suggestions Folks!

Despite his having already been suggested in an alternative guise I shall suggest
BOMBUR AT THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES
again - because I rather like the idea of a clinically obese dwarf in armour!

Well, two Bomburs would just split the votes in the first round from those who want to see this splendid character done some honors. I would love to see the fat (though not yet fully obese) Bombur at the Battle of Five Armies, too.
I will thus withdraw my suggestion and reserve it for a vignette month, where I can add two or three young dwarf attendants and show Bombur in his REAL glory. :-)
Go, Barliman.
PS: Two weeks to go. Perhaps another idea will pop up and demand to be suggested. For now, its Barlimans Bombur for me :-)

That's very noble of you, Axel - and you're right: it would probably have split the vote - I didn't stop to think about that. The 'mini-vignette' of Bombur being carried by several fit young Dwarves is certainly one that I'd like to see one day.

He may be twice the width of a 'normal' figure, but he's only half the height...

Yep. Even the "obese" Bombur may fit within the "single miniature" scope, if compared to humans or trolls. I know that Chris once rejected him on these accounts, but I think that was more humorous and considering the "supporting young dwarfs". The time of the Battle of the Five armies might be Bombur at his fittest (apart from childhood). He just had some month of severe travelling behind him. He would certainly fill a gap, both in character depiction (NO Bombur yet) and as a member of the travelling company.
With the new movie on "The Hobbit" lurking, it might be a good time to publish some dwarfs before their mental picture is also diluted by New Line. If we had any choice I would strongly vote for a box of the "travelling company", showing the Dwarfs and Bilbo.

Me govannen,
It's time for something evil, I think and I will try something new:
[glow=red,2,300]Black Numenorean (warrior) of Minas Morgul[/glow]
I would let it up to Chris, how this figure should look like. Maybe with some stones on his base, a man on the march, maybe with shield and spear and a cape. It may be an officer of Morgul or some elite mannish warrior.
Like the Hill-men, this is one of the few races of men, Chris has never designed a figure of (except the Mouth of Sauron, which is a special character).
Hope this figure has a chance against a sturdy dwarf!

Estel I believe all nine Ring-Wraiths are Black Numenoreans. The One that became the Witch-King definitely is.
Gothmog, Lieutenant of Minas Morgul may be a Black Numenorean
The Corsairs of Umbar have Black Numenorean roots.
But nevertheless a great suggestion

Given the hole in the collection for newer GF members because of sold out status, I suggest Halbarad on foot. Since I believe he died in his role as standard bearer, I suggest a fighting pose, a bit dinged up, while keeping the standard flying.

Gothmog, Lieutenant of Minas Morgul may be a Black Numenorean The Corsairs of Umbar have Black Numenorean roots. But nevertheless a great suggestion You are absolutly right, that there are some figures, which may be some kind of black Numenoreans. I do not believe, all the ringwraith are definitly Numenorean. That the corsairs of Umbar have black Numenorean roots is also not really true, as Tolkien said, Castamir's heirs sailed to Umbar, which means they are Dunedain of Isildur's line. Gothmog is the only one, which could be a Black Numenorean, but Chris has done so well, that this figure could be everything, from wraith to Orc. But no debate, I just tried to promote the Black Numenorean of Minas Morgul. NAMARIE estel

I think there are several good ideas, and am particularly fond of the Female Assassin of Dol Amroth.
But as I tell everyone that we should all make suggestions each month regardless if our favorite has already been mentioned by others, I recommend the following:
[glow=red,2,300]TED SANDYMAN THE MILLER[/glow]
Here is a named character in Tolkien's works that has never been produced (that I know of) by Chris. I picture him in bib overhauls, boots, and perhaps a straw hat. If Chris so chose, he could be on a base with a small wheat grinding stone. I know we are supposed to suggest single figures, but perhaps being a hobbit of such small scale would allow for a small accessory to the figure (after-all, swords and shields are accessories).
If not, then I still suggest Ted Sandyman standing alone.

Right...
I am not suggesting anything this month.
Rather, I will vote for either Wendy's idea (Halbarad on foot - I so want such a figure) or Estel's figure (Black Numenorian Warrior).
I would submit, however, that perhaps the Black Numenorean warrior might be titled "Black Numenorean Warrior" rather than from someplace specific. A Black Numenorean warrior would make a beautiful addition to a Corsair diorama too.
Later, I'll come back with two of my favourite images of Black Numenoreans (from MERP).

Hi Gavin,
I'm sure you have many good ideas, but I respect that you already like something suggested. At least you are a regular contributor to this forum.
My encouragement is really more for those who read these threads but don't post and rarely if ever vote on a figure. If there are 150 or so members, then many people fall into this group.
I hope to be able to continue to have Chris make a figure each month for us, and the more members participate in this group the more likely we'll see many of the great ideas that have been suggested, but have yet to win.

I will not offer an idea this month but rather I am going to support Craftinfool's suggestion of "Aragorn summoning the oathbreakers" for this month's figure as I had suggested this idea several times in the years past. It is a wonderful idea and would look outstanding as a Fellowship exclusive figure which is why we all joined in the first place.

Welcome, bucca!
BTW: I will follow Twrichs advice and suggest a mini just for the sport of it, though I would love to see old Bombur made.
Its not easy to find an unmade character, or even a named one in an unmade pose. But looking at the female phalanx last month, and at a small diorama sitting around, I now know whats missing and thus suggest:
Eowyn, in the Golden Hall of Theoden, at the time of the arrival of Gandalf and the three hunters.
