You MUST register (FREE) as a member of this forum before voting. This is to prevent spamming or abuse of the system.
We have received some correspondance in regard to the Classics and we have decided to let our collectors decide which of the post M300- to M400 figures are their choice. We will choose from the most popular to make. So vote freely. We will leave this open for the month of March. In April then we will decide which will be the next release. We will usually choose 10 figures.
We decided not to use pre M300 series as they are too collectable and would cause more problems than they would solve. This is final.
I have selected 35 items to vote on, as that is the maximum available on this software in one poll. I left out vignettes and box sets and figures already in the classics. Some others I did not add in due to space and personal choice. VOTE before April 1st. One vote per customer. So vote for your absolute favourite.

heheh, I already HAVE most of these.
I was somewhat heartbroken to discover that Elrohir was no longer available in the Clearance Sale, largely because I've used that mini for many different conversion projects. He's now a Sindarin Elf hero, the head of a Grey Elf (the character in the Gallery), A Lorien guardsman and a Mirkwood Elf spearman. I had hoped he could become an Elf of the Wandering Companies too.
And hell, eventually one of the Sons of Elrond. So I am going for Elrohir. Too bad there isn't an M type Elladan to go with him.

While there are many "classics" (some of them I grab whenever I get the chance) I have to vote for Gandalf and the Hobbit children. That is a small diorama that should remain available. It quitely captures some of the spirit of ME and one of its most important characters.

Always difficult making a single choice from such a fine range of figures - and Michael obviously had the same problem! Inevitably there are others I'd have preferred to see on this list and a handful that I'm not sure I'd have included, but that doesn't make it any easier. As it is, I avoided voting for myself (the figure of me was sculpted during the brief period when I'd shaved off my handlebar moustache, and I just don't feel I look right without it...), and in the end, after much internal debate, decided to vote on the Southron swordsman - a superb piece of sculpting, in my view, and deserving of the term 'classic'.

I voted for Gandalf and the Hobbit children for exactly the reason Axel listed! Please keep it available for everyone.

The Classics Series vote here, at last! M329 The Ringwraith because it is the best of all Ringwraiths you have made. :-) (And I don't have it...)

It occurs to me that there's one thing you can never have enough of, and that's orcs. Doesn't matter if you are a gamer, a modeller or a collector - orcs are useful.
So perhaps a Mithril Classic "Orc Hordes" boxed set including the orc selections above? and perhaps include the drummer and standard bearer from the "Orcs of the Red Eye" series, as well as the Orc Archer and Spearman from the Moria series. (The drummer and the latter two orcs are available as clearence range figures currently). A box set of ten or 12 "classic" orcs might go down very well.
Of course I am sad to see that the Rangers of Ithilien series seems to be on the verge of retirement... I'd better pick up some more in the near future before they are gone.

I noticed that the two other orc fans did not actually cast a vote for any of the orcs. It is great to suggest a box set but please cast an actual vote also.

I had to vote for Farmer Maggot and his dogs. I'm such a sucker for animals.

It occured to me that there are no trolls in the list, the classics line could use a new troll.

Sadly there's no Trolls anywhere in the M 300 to 400 series. There's an M295 just outside the 300-400 "range" - and a very fine miniature it is. Unfortunately, Many Mithril Pages lists it as "rare" with an average price of €16. It has often occured to me that a Tolkien minis range should always have the following - All the important named characters: Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf, Saruman, Bilbo, The fellowship, et al. Nazgul. You don't need nine of them, just some. And Nazgul in their LOTR type cloaks, not the MERP style armour (though those are nice). Orcs - a bunch of them. A troll or two. Some Elves, some Dwarves, maybe some Hobbits. Which is a round about way of saying, I'd like to see the Classic Range increased Gavin

It should also include at least one representative of each ethnic group (Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, etc). and each race of Men....which is another reason why I voted for the Southron.

Michael - I notice everything has gone very, very quiet on this subject, though 1 April is long gone! When will a decision actually be taken regarding the 'winners' - i.e., when will further Classics figures be added to the Mithril catalogue?

Hellooooooo, is there anybody there? Or have I raised my question about the Mithril Classics in completely the wrong place? If so, where should I have raised it?

Yeah, Sorry. I forgot about this actually. Spent too much time with the Fellowship. At the moment I would say we will focus on the Corsairs and Easterlings and then consider adding more Classics. The problem I find is that the voting was fairly quite. There was less votes cast for another Classic series than for ANY fellowship month on record. Considering that it was an open vote and it lasted so long that does not fill me with confidence that another Classic series is a priority in our Collectors minds. Time would be better spent on the Corsairs for now.

Hate to say it, but that's the way I saw/see it too. Shame, though. There are some very worthy figures in this list that it would be nice to see become available again after a long absence.
I wonder - was this poll ever promoted adequately? Was it mentioned in the regular newsletters, for instance? Or promoted on the main Mithril website? It's possible people didn't vote simply because they weren't aware of its existence. I seem to recall that I only knew of it because it was mentioned in passing by someone on the MMP website!

Hi Michael,
I found it very difficult to find this thread as I was a "newby" in using a forum. Maybe there would be more votings if the "NEXT Classic Series Poll. Vote Now." would be more visible for users/members and better promoted. I like the idea of Classics, especially when there are figures I do not have yet, like the Ringwraith and when there are figures to use as soldiers or bulk, like the Mordor Orcs, Wolfriders or giant Spiders of Mirkwood or even the Elven bowmen.

I will see about doing a new vote when the possibility of doing a Classic series release becomes available. At the moment we have our hands full.

With the exception of maybe one or two pieces, I like all the Mithril orcs. The Uruks are especially impressive. Take M311 Mordor Orc Archers for instance. These bent, thick-limbed fellows must be Uruks. The way they look truly conveys the suffering and brutality of the orc. I can just see them kicking each other in the buttocks and firing at anything that moves! Great set! I'll vote for it!

Michael, this thread is over two years old. Is Mithril still considering another Classics series?

Michael, this thread is over two years old. Is Mithril still considering another Classics series? The recession has postponed such a release as we have plans for new figures instead.
