In the course of Mithril history, there has been rare variants of some releases... including a Beorn in bear form with different upward paw, the MW337 horse captain with a hors leg difference,
there are also special versions of some MX figurines MX436 Burzash and its two different shields MX463 Prince Imrahil with a brandished sword instead of a standard MX535 Unexpected Party with the additional table for some castings
and there are the dismissed Prototypes.
Some of you might be aware of the MW346 and MW347 warbands that were never released (Iron Hill Dwarves and Half-Orc of Saruman)
There is also the MS423bis which is a Galadriel which was dismissed in favor of an Aragorn with the Palantir as introduction figurine of the Gold Fellowship.
and there also was a long abandonned project of a set named "the Wilderlands" that was never revealed at all!

Umm.. Wilderlands set? It's the first time I've heard of it. Can you tell us any more?
About the variantas, I returned a bit late to buy Mithril and I've only one of MX minis (an unexpected party), I didn't know that exist also special versions of these.
On compensation, I've been able to get early this summer the MS423bis Galadriel, it's really a pretty one.
About Beorn in bear, I think you talk about the different one that appears in Mithril catalog photo, don't you?

In the Mithril Catalogue, it states that the MS423A was never produced. However, I own an MS423A but can't remember how I got it - was it just a limited run . . . ?

the MS423A was offered by Chris at some point as gifts to collectors. and well, it has appeared once on ebay too... and was subject to many debates... as a gift should not be sold... but well it definitly exist yes. Just that it was not the final choice for the Gold Fellowship launch

Thank you very much. I guess that I may have gotten it from Chris then at some point in the past as I do not remember purchasing it. As I am now in the process of selling off some of my collection (I have no hope to get the entire collection painted nor even have room to display them all) this is certainly not one that I will get rid of . . . ;D The hard part is trying to get down to only having 15 of each culture . . . so many great miniatures to choose from.
