Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member.
This month's ideas is for single figures only, so no mounted or Vignettes (more than 2 people or a lot of furniture + two people) please. A mounted figure counts as two figures (horse/camel/warg/etc)
The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability.
Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY:
IDEA TITLE
"this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..."
Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion.
Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote.
Voting will begin on the 15th of October (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 14th.
You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions.

So let me try again this one, please
Tarannon Falastur
I think it's time for another named king who would nicely fit to the Berúthiel MS-figure. Let me quote: "... and that King Tarannon had her sent set on a ship alone with her cats and set adrift in the sea before a north wind. The ship was last seen flying past Umbar under a sickle moon with a cat at the masthead and another as a figure-head on the prow."(The Lord of the Rings, Appendix A,I,ii and iv) Now let me explain, please. So far we have a lot of Gondorian figures, so it might be time for a Gondorian king: The 12th King of Gondor and first of the 'Ship-kings'. So why not give [tar'annon] a chance?

Another Gondorian at stake, a steward´s wife to be exact. This should be a month of Gondor FINDUILAS OF DOL AMROTHNamed after Finduilas, an Elf-maiden of the First Age, Finduilas of Dol Amroth (2950–2988) was the daughter of Prince Adrahil II, and had an older sister Ivriniel in addition to her brother Imrahil. In 2976 of the Third Age she was wed to the much older Denethor, son of Ecthelion II the Steward of Gondor. A description of Lady Finduilas is given in Appendix A of The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King: "She was a lady of great beauty and gentle heart, but before twelve years had passed she died. Denethor loved her, in his fashion, more dearly than any other, unless it were the elder of the sons that she bore him. But it seemed to men that she withered in the guarded city, as a flower of the seaward vales set upon a barren rock. The shadow in the east filled her with horror, and she turned her eyes ever south to the sea that she missed"

I will let the dwarf prospector for Fulvio. But I have a brandnew idea: a wandering Vanya-elf! I think he must have missed the long walk with Ingwe and the other guys westward from Lake Cuivienen to Aman . . . But if you don´t like him to be blond paint him dark-haired and you will have a wandering Noldo-elf! But: ssshhhh! It´s a secret . . .

Guthlaf - Preparing for the 'Ride' I wouldn't usually resubmit, but what the heck ;D, Guthlaf to see if he makes it to the final again. Sketch in the gallery.Imagine a scene early in the morning as the mists lift off the ground and the horses stamp and snort restlessly impatient to be on the way. I picture Guthlaf bareheaded, as a standing figure holding his saddle as if about to throw it onto his horse. Ready to depart on the Rohirrim's ride to glory to Mundburg (and ultimately Guthlaf's death) he is leaning slightly back with the weight of his harness ready to hoist it up. Although he is Theoden's standard bearer, my idea is that he has the standard wrapped over his shoulder and the bare pole in the crook of his arm ready to fix the banner to it when he is mounted (why he would do it this way I don't have a clue, but it sounds good to me ). The pole would have a horses head carving on the top rather than a spear point and his helm would be hanging off of his sword by a strap. This could of course be any rider, but as Guthlaf is a named character, why not him

I have many new subjects to submit, but i will repost my last because this miniature is PERFECT for a diorama with the new Entombed Balrog:
DWARF MINE PROSPECTOR of Khazad Dum
The most skilled miner of his group, dressed only with a light tunic for the extreme hot of the deepest tunnel. He wear a small leather helmet to protect the head from the debris from excavation, and a small backpack full of maps of the mine. The dwarf has the beard tied behind the neck to allow free of movement in the narrow space of the mine. A pick stand under his left arm, while in the right hand he hold a raised lamp to light his way. Many small Mithril hammers of different size hang over the dwarf's belt: usefull tools to test the rock with reflected sound and unveil stream of pure mithril.
An old dwarf's proverb say: "Why a Balrog if we have no Dwarves to dig it?"

I wanted the Prospector without the Balrog.
With the Balrog coming, there is no way around this dwarf. No suggestion from me this time, I am all for the digger.

[shadow=red,left,300]WARG LEADER[/shadow] History: During the Third Age in Rhovanion, there lived an evil breed of wolves that made an alliance with the mountain orcs. These wolves were named Wargs. Often, when they set off for war, they went with the orcs called wolf-riders, who mounted the Wargs like horses. In the battles of the War of the Ring, the Wargs were devastated, along with most of the orc hordes, and after that time the histories of Middle-earth speak no more of these creatures.
Quote: “This glade in the ring of trees was evidently a meeting place of the wolves. More and more kept coming in. They left guards at the foot of the tree in which Dori and Bilbo were, and then went snuffling about till they had smelt out every tree that had any one in it. These they guarded too, while all the rest (hundreds and hundreds it seemed) went and sat in a great circle in the glade: and in the middle of the circle was a great grey wolf. He spoke to them in the dreadful language of the Wargs. Every now and then all the Wargs in the circle would answer their grey chief all together, and their dreadful clamour almost made the hobbit fall out of his pine tree.”
Description: The great Warg’s ears are set back. His pelt is bristled in order to appear even larger and more threatening. His back is slightly arched, and his tail is horizontal to the ground. Slowly the evil beast pivots around to the left, so that all in the circle may see him. His eyes have an angry and wild expression. His lips are curled, exposing long yellow fangs and red gums.
Note: Red is a threatening color in nature, thus baring the gums and tongue, which is pressed forward between the incisors during the display, makes for an especially effective threatening appearance. In fact, I'm doing it right now. Yikes! That is scary! The purpose of this display is to look dangerous and to demand respect from the other Wargs. AROOOOOO!!!
Wargs currently available are very nice and have a kind of domesticated look about them. I stress again that the Warg Leader should be a fierce-looking beast, especially since his intent is to captivate and command the pack.

Before Aragorn's became king... there was 33 kings of Gondor.... so why we do not suggest all of them so we could have whole royal lineage which is ending with Eärnur .... I will support your suggestion Master Theobald....

I suggest the following:
[glow=white,2,300] THORONGIL fighting the Corsairs of Umbar [/glow][
Thorongil burned many ships and vessels of the corsairs some time before the war of the ring broke out and doing such helped to make the threat from coastal raids much smaller than it would have been.
Thorongil should have a cloak being a much more action pose- figure of Aragorn in mailed armour with a sword slashing forward to beat Corsair warriors. A nice GF-figure to supplement the regular M-series corsairs of Umbar.

I will support Grond's suggestion this month. This Warg Chieftan was on my first wish list back it 2005! Thanks Troy. Unfortunately, I fear the Wargs are somewhat like the orcs; it’s not so easy to drum up support for them. BTW, had the Troll Champion of the North clawed and bonked its way to victory, it wouldn’t have been a total lose. I have supported trolls in the past and recognize their importance. Not only did these lumbering giants make imposing figures on the battlefield, they were indispensable tools of war. They literally ripped and smashed their way through enemy defenses, which of course allowed the more swift footed soldiers of darkness access to strategic targets. That was a fine suggestion. I’m actually glad to see Guthlaf back in the saddle again. Whenever I feel inclined to support the Free Folk, I back Rohan all the way. They were truly the cavalry of Middle-earth. And just like cavalry, they rode to the rescue just in the nick of time! GLORIOUS!

I hope you're right cfisher. Three is nice for starters, but twenty-seven will really give the Warg Leader something to howl about. We shall see. Thank you for the encouraging words! ;D

Grond, count with my vote too. A Warg cheftain will be a great addition to mithril range. A fierce warg with open mouth and great jaws will be awesome! (It will be better Carcharoth or Huan, but we all now that's impossible right now )

I'd like to suggest Old Tom again:
TOM BOMBADIL with the ONE RING[/color]
From Lord of the Rings Book 1 "In the House of Tom Bombadil":
Tom Bombadil took the 4 Hobbits to his house after the rescue from old man willow While the talking by the fireside there was this breathtaking key scene when Tom Bombadíl asked Frodo to show him the One Ring, got it from the Hobbit held it before his eye, put it on his finger and DID NOT become invisible... Then he flung the Ring into the air, and the Ring vanished in a flash...
He is.
As Frodo got the Ring back, he was suspicious and put on the Ring to try, and the Hobbit became invisible... wasn't seen by his Hobbit fellows but he was seen by Tom Bombadil even so!...
I imagine Tom as single miniature standing with the Precious between his fingers holding it in front of his bright blue eye (paint job) or even on his little Finger, He should not be to slender, the fellowship miniature MS297 of Tom with the badgers is superb.
Cheers, Hwolf

Not bad and nice try Roland! The link you provided does give examples of some very nasty-looking wolves. While they definitely look upset (probably due to mange), none have the mark of a true leader! And, while I’m sure we can all appreciate miniatures outside Mithril‘s Wild Kingdom, the objective is to add a new Mithril Miniature to the line, not to go outside and search for a reasonable facsimile. Still, I must applaud your objective, which was altogether different. Well done!

(It will be better Carcharoth or Huan, but we all now that's impossible right now ) Hah! You jog my memory imisel! I am also an admirer of Carcharoth. In fact, some time ago I suggested Sauron in giant wolf form, thinking he could also double as the Red Maw. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the idea off the ground. There was some debate over whether or not Sauron still possessed the ability to shape change during the War of the Ring ( of course I knew he could.). So, yes, a larger, more ferocious Warg does hold many possibilities! Thank you for reminding me! Also, thank you garrett! ;D Note: Many great ideas have already been submitted and no doubt more are yet to come. Ideas and opinions will likely change as well. My only wish is that we can get more members to participate this time. Last month 49 members voted. That's higher than average but still quite low. Let's try to get 50+ votes this time! Where the blazes are all those other members?

Many years ago I thought Heritage Fantastiques made the finest orc miniatures around. Laden with supplies and donning ancient armor, they were truly fantastic miniatures for their time. Minifigs and Archive likewise made some wonderful examples of hobgoblin and orc miniatures. BTW, Archive based their greater orc line on the paintings of the Brothers Hildebrandt. I enjoyed their vision of Middle-earth (especially their Siege of Minas Tirith painting) and so collected Archive miniatures too. Then came Ral Partha. They produced a line of even greater goblins. Incredibly detailed, each one wore a snarl on its face and boasted a musculature that would rival any champion athlete. I filled my case with them as well. Later, Confrontation manufactured a series of orc miniatures that was truly impressive. Each had a personality of its own, and even though they were much larger in scale, I just had to have them too. So, I bought another case. Through the 1990s I refused to buy miniatures. In fact, I sold most of my collection. It wasn't until just a couple of years ago that I stumbled across an irresistable miniature on eBay. The scale was perfect and the pose both interesting and natural. I snatched it up. I had just purchased my first Mithril Miniature - M94 Uruk-hai Royal Guardsman! I’m quite sure now that I have the best of the best…definitely…I’m pretty sure of that. The point is filling an entire room with a motley assortment of miniatures, sculpted by various artists, is fine if you have the money and space. Personally, I would rather concentrate on one brand of miniatures. The goblins, trolls, beasts, etc. sculpted by Chris Tubbs are faithfully true to the writings of Tolkien. There is no mistaking his work for that matter, and all of the miniatures complement each other nicely in one display case. I have no desire to look elsewhere for LoTRs miniatures. *** Though I admit that is one killer wolf in the last link.***
