There are so many cool things one could do with Carts!! Not just as Gandalf entering the shire, but two and poof, there’s a cart full of dead orcs, or the dead of Gondor, plus the sitting down Gandalf is perfect for the scene right after one of my favorite lines; “Frodo, if you don’t open your door at once I shall blow it...” and then they have tea and sit down and smoke. So another thing for that ‘xtra’ Gandalf! Well, if you’re into making certain scenes from the books. Carts are awesome and if it were me, I would have both Gandalf and cart/no horses, gads how many extra horses (Bill) do you have? Then I would also sell the cart and oh, something like one dead guy. Twofer!!! So that’s my .02cents

This is fantastic and in future I have hopes we will see some miniatures which I have dreamed of but knew could never be sculpted.

Here is my idea, which came from watching a raspberry bush we have in the jungle part of our yard..
YOUNG FRODO RUNNING WITH MUSHROOMS
As we all know, when Frodo was young, before Bilbo brought him to live at Bag End, he lived in Took Hall. During that time, as he loved mushrooms as much as the next Hobbit, that is, with a greed that exceeds that of any of the big people, he raided Farmer Maggot's Mushroom Farm to satiate that overwhelming desire for Mushrooms!! This went on until he was finally caught by Farmer Maggot's dogs and given a sound thrashing by the Farmer. This caused such a phobia that Frodo didn't even want to cross Farmer Maggot's lands when fleeing from those black, sniffing figures that had so frightened all the hobbits!
I picture a very young Frodo running as fast as he can, cheeks stuffed and hands clutching as many mushrooms as possible! He's looking over his shoulders, perhaps with one overall strap falling off his shoulder!
A bonus for this is that with the purchase of a Farmer Maggot and Dogs I (ok, it's my dream but anyone) with a bit of work can make an awesome scene with the Farmer clutching a big stick chasing Young Frodo with his Dogs leading the way!

I would really love to have people to add to the Shire, for the Party scene for example or even just passing through, who aren't main characters of LOTR. It takes a lot of people to fill up a Shire, or a Pub, or the City of Gondor or Rohan for that matter. The more non-military beings we have the better. I'd love to have a bunch of "city dwellers of Bree" and "Folks of the Shire", mostly adults for Gondor but a mix for The Shire to paint and just place in and about the place. I think it would be great. So I am all for an Erebor DWARVEN MERCHANT with TOYS for Hobbit children. I don't have many non-military types who don't look suspiciously alike, and I'd rather have a new one than a Drum-beating or fife playing Haradran for now!

Well, I have no idea, but I comment herewith:
I absolutely agree that there should be a break at this time to allow Chris to catch up. He has been doing this for so many years, I have to wonder when the last time was that he wasn't under tremendous pressure to produce, produce, produce. It seems to me that perhaps some time to review the old lists in a leisurely fashion and maybe even reread the books would be nice too! They may not be everyone's idea of beach reading but they sure are mine :-) !! So I am all in favour of a summer off.

I really like the idea of the Arnor Hunter with Puppy, BUT, if it does make it I beg that the puppy is on the stand with the Hunter, perhaps on two legs and one paw on the Hunther's trousers? There is nothing I cannot abide more than trying to paint something buried in someone's arms. Think of the Red Book buried in Bilbo's arms as he sits on his chair. Or Merry/Pippin under the arms of the Orc? If Arnor/Puppy wins and I am not alone I hope you'll join your voices to mine.

I vote for the King as I do prefer to have husband/wife figures. BUT I really did like the idea of a Lossoth figure too, but really, who could have just one? Like chips, I would want perhaps a series..or even two..that way warrior(s) can be purchased and changed so you can have a small force. That's the only reason I didn't vote for what to me would have been an exciting new figure, the Lossoth WOMAN. Really ddaines-wench? She'd probably gut you with a bone skate! (lol) Perhaps as a double figure??

This is, by FAR the most difficult choice I have ever had to make, so far anyway! I am still very new, after all. In the end I had to go for Legolas and Gimli riding Arod, but oh, I was so tempted by Merry, and by the idea of Elfhelm too.. Oh dear, I wish I could vote twice, or thrice, but alas in the end the chase after Merry and Pip made me the most excited in terms of a build. Now I will need a whole bunch of trees. And Ents. Is there a Tower of Orthanc?

Can someone tell me where in the LoTR where Baldor's Mail-Clad Skeleton can be found? This is something I went looking for but cannot find, and would appreciate a little direction.

I love the idea of Pip holding the Palantir!!! What an opportunity to paint ON THE PALANTIR itself, either teeny weeny Nazgul, or the Eye itself or any image from poor Pippin's sobering experience! Love this idea!

Oh- also all dollhouse stores sell tiny round windows, at just the right size- not sure what the metric is but there is regular dollhouse size and then 1/2 size for people who make these one room thingys- also great to do small scenes inside. I guess this wasn't helpful Guildor, but I started painting in the 1980's so there was nothing in the US for us really. Do-it-yourself was what you had to do. Smite me if you must.

I don't know if this helps or hinders, but I have magazines from the late 1980's which show how to build Mithril or Ral Partha size-appropriate buildings out of foam board, tiny balsa wood trim used often for Dollhouses, and a Dremel(Or suchlike) hand tool. I use also plaster of paris, wood shingles, about to be tossed (binned) wallpaper samples or books from paint stores, and my best friend styrofoam (all my pals save this for me.) Dead Bonzai plants are also awesome- they keep their color for years. When my friend's die- they know who thinks it's the best dead plant gift ever! LOL

I have always teared up at the thought of poor Boromir, who, though a good man, shared the arrogance of his Father and for one world-changing moment tried to take the ring, and yet died a noble death. Alas for Boromir! In the scene I will make for you, the river will take you home in honor! Thanks Milo, and will someone send this US mismift a link to the place I can buy me an Elvish boat?

Reply to Would Willowman be too small for a single figure?" I don't think so, I picture a large trunk with the Very Visible Crack that has swallowed Pip, and the more vise-like or closed pincer into which the top half of Merry has been enveloped, leaving legs & feet exposed. From the base, in my mind I see the trunk which splits off into two main branches. The root upon which Frodo had been lying would be separate and toward the very bottom, leaving us the option of placing it bent into the water or more out like a root from which Frodo would have sat with toes in the water- let's keep in mind the size of hobbit toes and legs here :) . For the top of the tree, I see a basic Mithril tree, a few branches, nothing too fancy. The reason I wanted to stress the wider-than-normal tree trunk is so that if we want, we could use other trees/tree parts to make this a REALLY BIG TREE. You don't have to, but the possibility will be there. ;) Does this create a better mind-picture? I am NOT an artist, stick-figures elude me, but I will do the best I can to create that thousand-word written one!

Idea: OLD WILLOWMAN CATCHES MERRY & PIPPIN
I think a great follow-up to Goldberry would be the Tree that put the Hobbits in contact with the mysterious Tom Bombadil in the first place. As you recall, this tree, which stood in the Old Forest, was more awake and malicious than a tree should be. A strange sleepiness came over the company. Frodo sat on a branch that broke and held him underwater- naturally Sam resisted this foul sleep spell and saved him, but not before Pippin was closed up with a snick and poor Merry was left with only his feet sticking out. What I picture is this: A fairly good sized hollow tree which has no leaves. On the outside we see a large crack and nearby another crack out of which a pair of Hobbit feet poke, perhaps pointing one up, one straight out to indicate pain. On the other side is a branch with part of the end flat- as if it had held someone underwater until a second ago- except it is magically still attached to the tree. In the Mithril line there are already Frodos, Sams, and Ponies. So those figures need not be included. This is a Idea: OLD WILLOWMAN CATCHES MERRY & PIPPIN
Thanks for looking! Rohangrl

Well, I am deeply humbled that my suggestion has made it through the next round as the winner! I always liked Denethor and was saddened by his hubris in hiding and then using the Palantir of Gondor. His deep love for Boromer and the supposed failures of Faramir that had caused his Father's distrust and withdrawal of love- as it was Faramir who should have been sent to Elrond- is shown to be a lie when he finds Faramir seemingly fatally wounded. His mind cracked by Sauron, burning themselves alive as did those ancient "Southern Kings," was, to Denethor, an act of love. It is his agonized failure to do this that I see depicted on Denethor's face, not the pain of the fire. I already have a few big Orcs, but would love a Denethor! May the best woman or man win! (Right ddaines?!)

Wow! I want to thank all of you who voted for Denethor Burning. I hope he does make it, as it is a scene I have dreamed of creating for many many years! If anyone wants me to, I would be glad to try to give the numbers of the other pieces you'd need, which thankfully already exist!

Hi, I have never made a suggestion before, but mine is DENETHOR BURNING
Although it may seem at first one would need furniture and more, actually no, since Denethor, driven mad by his use of a palantir, jumps alone into the pire he has caused to be built, falls and dies- Faramir is rescued already and Gandalf and Pippin (Already available,) look on.
"So!" cried Denethor. "Thou hadst already stolen half my son's love. Now thou stealest the hearts of my knights also, so that they rob me wholly of my son at the last. But in this at least thou shalt not defy my will: to rule my own end." The Return of the King: "The Pyre of Denethor," p. 130 Denethor leaped onto the pyre, broke the rod of his Stewardship, and set himself ablaze, clutching the palantir. It was said that his burning hands could be seen in the palantir forever afterwards.
A bit grim, but a scene easily made if I just had Denethor, perhaps with his back arched as he cries out, clutching the palantir to his breast!

Have you tried advertising on the section of the site where you can buy/trade from others? Also it might be for sale as a piece on eBay.
