King Elessar ( Aragorn) in royal garments holding up his infant son Eldarion (2 - 4 years old)
suggestion is a single figure of the returned King with his little firstborn son, holding the child on his arms or with both hands over his head, face to face, both laughing Connection of the figures almost like MS459 his mother Gilraen fleeing to Imladris with infant Aragorn, which counted as a single piece.

Yes please, in any case the design of the inscription shown in the Book is the correct one.
Hope the size can be chosen in a matter that the smaller letters on the arch make no problems. Even big enough for a troll - if he can pass the dwarf guards... 😁

Regarding the West Gate: I trust in Chris Tubb's skills and decision.
Correct, the Doors are invisible. Until Gandalfs words and the moonlight reveals the inscription. And the Gate opens after speaking the Password. There are many figures exist to be put in front of the Gate, meaning, just the Gate itself as a scenery piece is missing. That scene holds a deep magic in the novel IMHO See the Head of Grond the battering ram: one needs so much more modelling to build the complete war-machine, but it is essential for it.
The opened Gate indeed is a very strong Vignette - or better Box-Set - theme, with the upset (fighting) fellowship, Bill the pony dashing away and even one tentakle of the Watcher creeping out of the lake and grappling for Frodo.

With the new way of digital sculpting and new process of producing by 3D printing or resin casting:
A new suggestion of what was not possible to cast in metal so far:
The West Gate of Moria.
'Look!' he said (Gandalf). 'Can you see anything now?' The moon now shone upon the grey face of the rock; but they could see nothing else for a while. Then slowly on the surface, where the wizard's hands had passed, faint lines appeared, like slender veins of silver running in the stone. At first they where no more than pale gossamer-threads, so fine that they only twinkled fitfully where the moon caught them, but steadily they grew broader and clearer, until their design could be guessed. At the top, as high as Gandalf could reach, was an arch of interlacing letters in an elvish character. Below, though the threads were in places blurred or broken, the outline could be seen of an anvil and a hammer surmounted by a crown with seven stars. Beneath these again were two trees, each bearing crescent moons. More clearly than all else there shone forth in the middle of the door a single star with many rays. 'There are the emblems of Durin!' cried Gimli. 'And there is the tree of the High Elves!' said Legolas. 'And the Star of the House of Fëanor,' said Gandalf. They are wrought of ithildin that mirrors only starlight and moonlight, and sleeps until it is touched by one who speaks words now long forgotten in Middle-earth.
Suggestion is just the part of the wall of rock, smooth but with some structure where the design of the Gate is lightly engraved in the stone, and a base. No figures! Dimension of the inscription says: as high as Gandalf's hands ( without a ladder 😉) could reach ( in Mithril scale about 4,5 - 5 cm high) Celebrimbor made the letters, sure he was taller than Gandalf

A Conspiracy Unmasked Sing hey! For the bath at the close of day…..The travellers hung up their cloaks, and piled their packs on the floor. Merry led them down the passage and threw open a door at the far end. Firelight came out, and a puff of steam. ‘A bath!’ cried Pippin. ‘O blessed Meriadoc!’…..For this month’s suggestion I will submit one of the hobbits in a bath at the house in Crickhollow. On the floor would be a copper full of boiling water, as well as a matt and a towel (as described in the book). It would be nice if the towel could be on a small stool, but the floor would suffice. The hobbit would be lathering himself with his soap and a sponge/flannel. I’m not sure if this has been a past suggestion from another GF member, apologies if it has.Yes, it was me David, who suggested that theme once. But no hard feelings about that, glad to see that idea again here 😊👍

King Elessar holding up his little son Eldarion
As Aragorn is a very much liked personality to the club members, My suggestion this month is: Lord Aragorn some time after his coronation and wedding to Lady Arwen with his firstborn son Eldarion at young age, just 3 or 4 years old, holding him up with both arms over his head. King Elessar in royal garment, but wearing rather a circlet than the tall winged crown. Both looking and laughing or smiling at each other. Or the pose could be just little Eldarion on the Arm of Elessar, like Gilraen, (Fellowship miniature MS 459 his mother ) if there should be to much trouble making the arms and infant boy seperately, though it worked well with the trumpeting Ent also, and that one was bigger...
The figure could be similar touching as Gilraen carrying little Aragorn! - Of course more happier, for there is no fleeing...
Let the line of Kings of Gondor and Arnor go on!

Saruman of many colours defeated, with broken staff.
'Come back, Saruman!' said Gandalf in a commanding voice. To the amazement of the others, Saruman turned again, and as if dragged against his will, he came slowly back to the iron rail, leaning on it, breathing hard. His face was lined and shrunken. His hand clutched his heavy black staff like a claw. 'I did not give you leave to go.‘ said Gandalf sternly, 'I have not finished. You have become a fool, Saruman, and yet pitiable. You might still have turned away from folly and evil, and have been of service. But you choose to stay and gnaw the ends of your old plots. Stay then! But I warn you you will not easily come out again. Not unless the dark hands of the east stretch out to take you. 'Saruman!‘ he cried, and his voice grew in power and authority. 'Behold, I am not Gandalf the Grey, whom you betrayed, I am Gandalf the White, who has returned from death. You have no colour now, and I cast you from the order and from the Council. He raised his hand, and spoke slowly in a clear cold voice. 'Saruman, your staff is broken,’ There was a crack, and the staff split asunder in Saruman’s hand, and the head of it fell down at Gandalf’s feet. ‚Go!' said Gandalf. With a cry Saruman fell back and crawled away.

The voice of Saruman
Saruman of many Colours on the balcony of Orthanc tower leaning over the grate, (just some floor and railing/balustrade part needed) looking downward with a face expression of wrath, with his staff in one hand.
Saruman: 'Gibbets and crows!' he hissed, and they shuddered at the hideous change. 'Dotard! What is the house of Eorl but a thatched barn where brigands drink in the reek, and their brats roll on the floor among the dogs?'.... Now his voice changed, as he slowly mastered himself. 'I know not why I have had the patience to speak to you. For I need you not, nor your little band of gallopers, as swift to fly as to advance, Théoden Horsemaster. Long ago I offered you a state beyond your merit and your wit. I have offered it again, so that those whom you mislead may clearly see the choice of roads. You give me brag and abuse. So be it. Go back to your huts!

so many male dwarves in the mithril range and only one female so far.

Gollum and SmeagolSmeagol-Gollum, while convincing himself that master is not (or is he) evil? Perhaps the final chance for him of redemption, but finally Gollum wins for master has betrayed him to the cruel humans, and "she" will help... Not sure how you can put inner conflict into a small 28mm miniatures, but why not testing the mans skill here :-) In short: this is but ONE mini... could be possible if Gollum/ Smeagol is sitting at a waterhole (part of the base). the reflection flatly sculpted IN the base can show the other aspect of the miserable creatures face... or soul. Or the stage when Hobbit Smeagol turns into Gollum...

resuggestion:
Bill the Pony with baggage - in movement
there is another - fourlegged - 'member' of the fellowship, who is missing in the fellowship range and also as an addition to the new fellowship boxed set: Bill the Pony.
Yes, we have him as a standing version with Sam feeding an apple to the animal (M393 Sam with Bill the Pony - from Village of Bree range ) and nearly the same pose with laden baggage (LR34 Bill the Pony)
My suggestion is to have a single miniature of Billy 'on the move / journey' means walking or trotting, laden with all the baggage of the fellowship. No need of a leading Hobbit figure, we have plenty of them, I think
Bill the Pony was bought by Frodo in Bree from Bill Ferny, after whom he was named (strangely). The high price of twelve silver pennies! for the half-starved Pony was paid by Barliman Butterbur. When bought, Bill was a bony, underfed and dispirited animal, but under the care of Sam Gamgee (and surely the influence of Elronds house in Rivendell, where he was taken with by Strider and the 4 Hobbits) he became healthy and happy. Bill bore Frodo part of the way to Rivendell, and was later used by the fellowship of the Ring as a pack animal. Set free outside the West-gate of Khazad-dûm, Bill eventually found his way back to Bree. There he was recovered after the war of the Ring by Sam, who darely loved him. Sam took him to the Shire and rode him to the Grey Havens, when Frodo and Bilbo were leaving Middle earth.

Herold of DawnA c0ck! "Shrill and clear he crowed, recking nothing of wizardry or war, welcoming only the morning that in the sky far above the shadows of death was coming with the dawn." I assume that with 700 miniatures made there is no mounted hornblower of Rohan in sight, so I go for the second best, the cockcrow that preceded the horns and on its own had already broken the gloomy silence preceding that final showdown between the Witchking of Angmar and Gandalf the White. So, just a c0ck, crowing. Perhaps on a heap of mist, if a throne he needs. The Herold of Dawn!
BTW: Seems that the original word is autoswapped to "thingy" as in a different context this male chicken term can be seen as indecent, so I swapped the o for a 0 (Zero). Thanks god that forum software protects us from offensive terms. Civilization would be in jeopardy otherwise... Nice suggestion! heap of mist? dear Axel, I know what you mean, but german word "Mist" is something different than this word in english...

neither was my intention to start a debate.
Troll of the great ram 'Grond' crew
Grond they named it, in memory of the Hammer of the Underworld of old. Great beasts drew it, orcs surrounded it, and behind walked mountain-trolls to wield it.
Suggestion is to make the ram Grond theme again more complete a bit: a great troll of Mordor style, in walking, pushing or even wielding (a chain) pose

Beorn's animalsI don't know why my doe proposal was not accepted last month when it was accepted in November and even passed the second round of voting... I change the deer to a doe, hoping that it will be easier and that it will pass the selection. So this month, I propose again a rather unusual miniature: Beorn's animals but which could also be associated with Radagast or even Tom Bombadil. This is a doe with a squirrel on his back, a little bird on his head and a rabbit at his feet. Nothing heroic or historical (no reference to a character named in a book) but a subject that seems to me perfectly in the spirit of Tolkien and it would be a good complement to the Beorn or Radagast miniatures.. If Chris considers it too complex for a single figure, he can always simplify and remove one or two small animals? perhaps it is better to find the text reference to get a better chance? look at the Hobbit book: The chapter in which Thorin & Co. pass Mirkwood. There you will find a running stag and a doe stag antlers should be possible, for the reindeer with the Lossoth sled has them too. Beorns animals are described as horses, ponies, sheep, dogs and huge bees... just a good advice 😉

My suggestion this year is a combo of a piece of scenery (not too huge, in a size possible to be produced). and a single figure, each also standing solo from another. DecDurin's Stone (weather-worn dwarven stone column at Lake Mirrormere)The Company now went down the road from the Gates. It was rough and broken, fading to a winding track between heather and whin that thrust amid the cracking stones. But still it could be seen that once long ago a great paved way had wound upwards from the lowlands of the Dwarf-Kingdom. In places there were ruined works of stone beside the path, and mound of green topped with slender birches, or fir-trees sighting in the wind. An eastward bend led them hard by the sward of (Lake) Mirrormere, and there not far from the roadside stood a single column broken at the top. 'That is Durin’s Stone!' cried Gimli. 'I cannot pass without turning aside for a moment to look at the wonder of the dale!' ... Beside the standing stone Gimli halted and looked up. It was cracked and weather-worn, and the faint runes upon its side could not be read. 'This pillar marks the spot where Durin first looked in the Mirrormere,' said the dwarf. 'Let us look ourselves once, ere we go!'. They stooped over the dark water. At first they could see nothing. Then slowly they saw the forms of the encircling mountains mirrored in a profound blue, and the peaks were like plumes of white flame above them; beyond there was a space of sky. There like jewels sunk in the deep shone glinting stars, though sunlight was in the sky above. Of their own stooping forms no shadow could be seen. 'O Kheled-zâram fair and wonderful!' said Gimli. 'There lies the Crown of Durin till he wakes. Farewell!' ...

Gimli at Durin’s Stone / Lake MirrormereGimli the Dwarf in dwarven travelling gear, with baggage, but without long elven cloak. (the scene is before the visit at Lothlorien.) There are enough Frodo’s and Sam’s to complete the scene, I think. tolkiengateway.net/w/images/0/0b/Matěj_Čadil_-_Durin%27s_Stone.jpgIllustration for example. I like the emblems of Durin similar to the inscription on the West-Gate of Khazad -Dûm (Moria): The anvil and the hammer and the Crown with seven stars above.

Bifur and BofurI think a good suggestion for the idea of the month is Bifur and Bofur, members of Thorin and Company.
I've always hoped that Mithril Miniatures would offer a complete collection of the 13 dwarves from The Hobbit in their travel gear. This would be a great start towards that goal.
Playing off the M155 and M229 Thorin sculptures and, the ever excellent, MS538 Bombur, it would be nice to see Bifur and Bofur created. Both figures should be wearing their travel garb with hoods, which play an important role in The Hobbit so they should be clearly present, backpack and/or pouches, a walking-stick, dagger, axe, and their respective instruments: clarinets. Refer to The Hobbit, Chapter 1, An Unexpected Party.
MX535 An Unexpected Party is an excellent starting point for the sculptures. Alan Lee's art for The Hobbit is great inspiration.
Did you realize that it is a single figure month? Whould be a pity if your suggestion being cancelled, because named characters are always great

suggestion is just the figure, the half globe stone can easily be made from other materials
Aragorn "Strider" blowing a horn at the Stone of Erech
Long had the terror of the Dead lain upon that hill and upon the empty fields about it. For upon the top stood a black stone, round as a great globe, the heigth of a man, though its half was buried in the ground. Unearthly it looked, as through it had fallen from the sky, as some believed; but those who remembered still the lore of Westernesse told it had been brought out of the ruin of Númenor and there set by Isildur at his landing. None of the people of the valley dared to approach it, nor whould they dwell near; for they said it was a trysting-place of the Shadow-men and there they would gather in times of fear, thronging round the Stone and whispering. To that stone the Company came and halted in the dead of night. Then Elrohir gave to Aragorn a silver horn, and he blew upon it; and it seemed to those that stood near that they heard a sound of answering horns, as if it was an echo in deep caves far away. No other sound they heard, and yet they were aware of a great host gathered all about the hill on which they stood; and a chill wind like the breath of ghosts came down from the mountains. But Aragorn .... standing by the Stone he cried in a great voice: 'Oathbreakers, why have ye come?' And a voice was heard out of the night that answered him, as if from far away: 'To fulfil our oath and have peace.'

one Troll turned to stone with bird-nest behind one earMany years ago, the three trolls from the Hobbit story were produced. They were made as beautiful fellowship miniatures - one after the other. My suggestion for this month is one (or the first) of them turned to stone, after Gandalf's voice put an end to them. The figure should show in some way how it has weathered over the years, perhaps with some moss and vines details and a little less detail than the troll figures already in our collections, and there should be no food or mug in the troll's hands, because they were just arguing and fighting before they turned to stone. A fun detail will be the bird's nest behind a troll's ear. resuggestion from last month mithrilfigures.proboards.com/post/14641

J. R. R. Tolkien The Hobbit Chapter II Roast Mutton
'Who are you a-talkin’ to?' said William. 'Now stop it!' said Tom and Bert together. 'The night’s gettin’ on, and dawn comes early. Let’s get on with it!'
'Dawn take you all, and be stone to you!' said a voice that sounded like William’s. But it wasn’t. For just at that moment the light came over the hill, and there was a mighty twitter in the branches. William never spoke for he stood turned to stone as he stooped; and Bert and Tom were stuck like rocks as they looked at him. And there they stand to this day, all alone, unless the birds perch on them, for trolls, as you probably know, must be underground before dawn, or they go back to the stuff of the mountains they are made of, and never move again. That is what had happened to Bert and Tom and William. 'Excellent!' said Gandalf, as he stepped from behind a tree, an helped Bilbo to climb down out of a thorn-bush. Then Bilbo understood. It was the wizard’s voice that had kept the trolls bickering and quarreling, until the light came and made an end on them.
J. R. R. Tolkien The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring Chapter XII Flight to the Ford
'There are trolls!' Pippin panted. "Down in a clearing in the woods not far below. We got a sight of them through the tree-trunks. They are very large!' 'We will come and look at them,' said Strider, picking up a stick. Frodo said nothing, but Sam looked scared.
The sun was now high, and it shone down through the half-stripped branches of the trees, and lit the clearing with bright patches of light. They halted suddenly on the edge, and peered through the tree-trunks, holding their breath. There stood the trolls, three large trolls, one was stooping, and the other two stood staring at him. Strider walked forward unconcernedly.
'Get up, old stone!' he said, and broke his stick upon the stooping troll. Nothing happended.
There was a gasp of astonishment from the hobbits, and even Frodo laughed. 'Well,' he said, 'We are forgetting our family history! These must be the very three that were caught by Gandalf, quarreling over the right way to cook thirteen dwarves and one hobbit.' ... 'You are forgetting not only your family history, but all you ever knew about trolls,’ said Srider. 'It is broad daylight with a bright sun, and yet you come back trying to scare me with a tale of live trolls waiting for us in this glade! In any case you might have noticed that one of them has an old bird’s nest behind his ear. That would be a most unusual ornament for a live troll !' They all laughed.

The barrel escape – Dwarf crawling out of barrel
The Hobbit Chapter X A warm welcome
... First of all a barrel was cut loose by Bilbo and pushed to the shore and opened. Groans came from inside, and out crept a most unhappy dwarf. Wet straw was in his draggled beard; he was so sore and stiff, so bruised and buffeted he could hardly stand or stumble through the shallow water to lie groaning on the shore. He had a famished and a savage look like a dog that has been chained and forgotten in a kennel for a week. ... "Well, are you alive or are you dead?" asked Bilbo quite crossly... "Are you still in prison, or are you free?" ...
Suggestion is to have a (laying) barrel with open lid, and out of the barrel a exhausted dwarf is crawling or creeping, his upper body, arms and head visible. Which one of the 13 Dwarves – if it's necessary to name him – I whould leave to Chris Tubb to decide.
In the book it was Thorin Oakenshield who first came out, Dwalin and Balin were two of the most unhappy, Bifur and Bofur were less knocked about and drier, but very exhausted, Kili and Fili however who were young (for dwarves) came out more or less smiling and they both helped Bilbo and Thorin to search and free the others: Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin and Gloin were waterlogged and seemed only half alive, and poor fat Bombur was asleep or senseless.
