I suggest Rangers of the North/Grey Company. With one of them mounted.

Perhaps not quite in theme, but I suggest:
Shagrat vs Gorbag
...fighting in orc fashion, maybe one biting the other.
Orcs fighting each other makes for some pivotal moments in LOTR which have a huge impact on the direction of the story.

I just said "whatever". I hardly take seriously any anonymous scoring system that really has no effect on me at all. Still it can be a bit of fun - to say 'what a great idea' in a quiet manner - or just randomly exalt at will. As for the rules, one can neither smite or exalt more than once an hour. But of course Master Elf, it is easy to undo a smiting. One only need wait an hour.

Ah, this might be more helpful. Here is a link to the Irish Model Soldier Society. www.imss.moonfruit.com/# They should be able to point you in the right direction.

Haldir and Sam"He turned and saw that Sam was now standing beside him, looking round with a puzzled expression, and rubbing his eyes as if he was not sure that he was awake. 'It's sunlight and bright day, right enough,' he said. 'I thought that Elves were all for moon and stars: but this is more elvish than anything I heard tell of. I feel as if I was inside a song, if you take my meaning. Haldir looked at him, and he seemed indeed to take the meaning of both thought and word. He smiled." A lovely little scene with Sam, hands near his eyes like he had just rubbed them and Haldir looking down at him smiling. I know it won't win. I just wanted an excuse to type the text.

You might try posting at Treefrog Treasures forum ( www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/forum.php) - it's a traditional type toy soldier forum. You also might try Planet Figure ( www.planetfigure.com/) - it's historical miniatures - better sculpted and painted than traditional toy soldiers. I know there's at least one member from Dublin. Both are international communities with members on both sides of the pond.

Ciao Lino! Benventuto! Non lo so se c'è un negozio che vende le miniture di Mithril in italia (ma non ho cercato - non abito in italia). Il posto migliore per vendere Mithrils è mithril.ie (qui). Anche ebay trovare le miniature più vecchia. Anche puoi vendere o scambiare a "Many Mithril Pages" (mmp.faerylands.eu).
(Mi dispiace per la riposta più tardi.)

Sam is a ice little miniatures idea, but how should he look like? cooking, or just wearing lots of cooking supplies on his backpack? He would be cooking, with a brace of coneys and herbs close at hand. (At least that's how I see it...) Just a small campfire and pot doesn't take up much space.

I suggest Sam, Camp Cook
Includes a small campfire, a pot and a brace of coneys. Perhaps a small bunch of herbs too.

Those giving the criticism are more used to a different style more commonly found with GW minis (larger than life, less likely to be well proportioned, packed full of stuff hanging from it, and so on). It's just a matter of taste.

Welcome! Don't feel too overwhelmed by the gaps. You could just start out with your favorites characters and peoples. Keep an eye on ebay as now and again a good number of them can be found for pretty good prices. And there's a sale going on right now on the Mithril site. ;D (Also, since you live in the US, you don't have to pay VAT - make sure you click the box in the Mithril shopping cart. It's more than 17% taken off the listed price!)
And do head over to MMP. There's lots of great information to be found and good conversation in the MMP forum. (Don't abandon this one, of course. ;D)

Glorfindel (the one contemporary to Frodo) and
Gil-galad
All pose and such details are completely up to the Man.

The man is a bulldog when it comes to holding a grudge. Veilen danke mein bruder! Estel's comment was simply a short non caps statement of disagreement and the only such comment made since you first suggested the nameless thing. Given that you seem to prefer baddies and he doesn't as much, disagreement is bound to pop up but doesn't constitute a grudge. We all can agree or disagree and vote accordingly. A joking tone doesn't always come across in writing. Let's keep things nice around here. Back on topic, the nameless thing and how Chris would portray it is indeed an intriguing thought. That said, rather strange and scary-ish miniatures in general are popular so it might be help in putting Mithril back on the mini map. With that in mind it might be best done as a regular release like "Monsters of Middle Earth" or something like that. There are other nameless things in the Wilds and such as well.

Mithril has been made aware of this problem and they've said they ditched the whole batch of the bad stuff. I've bought some figures since then, and the new primer looks fine. Sometimes, you have the option to buy figures without primer, so keep an eye for that too.

Well, to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, what additions could be made to the forum to encourage more activity in the part of the forum available to everyone? I don't want to make a lot of work for Michael, but a couple new sections or sub sections of the forum might be good. I see that we can attach pics to posts now, so we could have a gallery section for works in progress and finished pics that can be larger than the Fan Gallery allows currently. (Definitely keep the fan galleries though - it's nice to have each person's work all in one place.) German and French sections (or others) would be good, with moderators who understand the languages. That way there can be more international participation and Michael doesn't have to know a bunch of languages. ;D If necessary, the moderators can act as translators for those who don't speak English well with regards to questions or comments directed to Michael. A dedicated section (not just one post) for trading and auctions would be good too, just to keep everything tidy. Well, just a few thoughts from me. I shall try to participate more in the general section to liven up the place a bit. Please add your thoughts here too. Not just things to add, but ways to encourage more participation in the general forum.

I suggest Sam cooking the brace of coneys over a campfire. (Or alternately titled Sam, camp cook.)
I imagine Sam hovering, spoon in hand, over a pot and small fire (mostly coals), the coneys sitting nearby.

I don't think the amusing theme is a requirement, just a suggestion. Still, I will suggest:
A cranky looking Thorin, head poking out, peering from inside a barrel
(I have other light hearted suggestions in mind, but they require two figures.)
