Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member.
This month's ideas is for double figures only, but no mounted or Vignettes (more than 2 people or a lot of furniture + two people) please. I realise a mounted figure counts as two figures (horse/camel/warg/etc) but Chris wants to exclude that variant this time. Ideally you could have a couple like MS454 Faramir and Eowyn (house of healing) or a couple fighting like M384 Haradan & Ranger fighting. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability.
Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY:
IDEA TITLE
"this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..."
Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion.
Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote.
Voting will begin on the 15th of April (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 14th.
You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions.

Easy peasy.
ELLADAN AND ELROHIR AT THE BLACK GATE
Elladan and Elrohir, having followed Aragorn through the Paths of the Dead to Minas Tirith now stand with the Rangers of the North before the Morannon part of a tiny force facing down the full strength of Sauron's armies.
They are dressed as Rangers, though "clad alike, in bright mail beneath cloaks of silver-grey"
Elladan is loading his bow while Elrohir holds his spear at the ready, two handed, covering his brother in that moment of vulnerability.
The north wind is cold and strong behind them, that same wind that will soon bear the great eagles to their aid. Their cloaks flow in the breeze.
Both are armed with longswords, sheathed for now at their belts.

well since it is an occasion to have some kind of small vignette... I will once again try my suggestion for the ... 5th or 6 th time?
Crowning of King Elessar Gandalf the white about to put the crown of Gondor upon the head of a knelt Aragorn in front of him. Aragorn would be dressed in regal garb. This does not require special furniture but the base of the vignette could have some small steps like a dais with Gandalf on top of it and Aragorn just half-kneeling, due to the steps

In the meantime just to make sure that there is some competition I will have to search my memory for an idea that I had, but seem to have forgotten ;D

Well, but I just remember an idea I had years ago:
Ent fighting a Half-orc commander of Saruman's troops at Isengard
I can imagine different poses:
either - the Ent is hurling the Half-orc and about to throw him or: - the Ent is lifting up the Half-orc and holding him at eye-level or even: - the Ent is swirling the Half-orc using him as a kind of weapon
For those who rather like named characters as MS-figures, one might consider a name Tolkien used for one of the Ents.

2 stories in the lord of the rings are the most tragic to me: the story of Boromir, Faramir and Denethor and the story of Aragorn and Arwen. As I like this emotional parts very much, I suggest:
1.) Dying King Elessar or died Elessar on deathbed 2.) Arwen in mourning dress.
The first Elessar suggestion could also be a sarcophagus, but I imagine that Elessar looked like a king of old and not like old grown dotard when he died.
The second suggestion should show an Arwen with a veil in a very sad pose so that she could be put at the bed of her dead husband. I thought of having Eldarion as an alternative, but lastly decided to suggest Arwen. If this idea would win, I would leave it up to Chris, if a young boy Eldarion is at his mothers' side- I'd prefer that.
Dear HWOLF will you suggest again Samweis family (Sam, Baby Elanor and Rosie)? I would like this idea

Frodo and Gollum fighting for the RingIn the moment that Gollum got past Sam and attacked the invisible Frodo, biting off his finger, and finally regained his "precious". Both fight near the chasm that goes to the lava

A KNIFE IN THE DARK I'm not sure if this will squeeze in within the rules for this month (we have a death-bed/sarcophagus suggestion), but here goes. It is the dead of night in Bree, a window on a downstairs room has been forced......My suggestion is to have a Ringwraith poised over a 'simple' bed, holding a sword aloft, blade pointed downwards, in both hands about to stab and slash the 'sleeping hobbit'. I would hope that the bed could be a single one-piece casting (one figure) showing a sleeping form covered by blankets, and to add a bit of interest the Ringwraith would be shown in 'true form' (but NOT the Witch-King ;D). I can't remember if this scene is shown in the Peter Jackson film, but looked quite effective in the original Ralph Bakshi version.

My suggestion for the double interaction month is
The Regaining of Edoras/Rohan (Fréaláf slews Wulf of Edoras)
We have that magnificent Fellowship vignette of the acclamation of Wulf of Edoras MS280,
– how about the end of that usurper?
>> Wulf son of Freca the Dunlending, invaded Rohan in 2758 and took Edoras usurping the throne in Meduseld. But the Long Winter, which had lasted five long months, ended and Fréaláf son of Hild came out of Dunharrow and with a small band of men, surprising Wulf, he attacked Edoras and slew Wulf, regaining the city. <<
I imagine the two figures interacting either in the last fight, the moment of the deadly strike Fréaláf does
or better the dunlending usurper already laying slain on the ground, the Rohirrim standing victorious over him with raised sword or axe. maybe he is holding that winged helmet in the other hand.
__________________________________________________________ Dear master ESTEL, I surely will resuggest Sam Gamdschie with family, but not this time, because I do not expect much support for Master Samwise, as he just is the winner of the last month.

So, it is about time to re- suggest what fellows did before?! OK then I would re-activate David´s great suggestion of the two:
[glow=red,2,300]BODYGUARDS OF KHAND[/glow]
Why, well, there could be a really great diorama with the existing archer and the latest Christmas figure. So the bodyguards will be welcomed being a part of it. Close to Mr. Tubb´s imaginary fo the khandish warriors they should have different poses. Thank you.

By the way I also really love the suggestion of the coronation of Elessar, no matter who suggested it first, as long as we have the scene realised sometime But if the matter rises to a big problem or we loose the overview which fellow was the first who suggested this or that figure or scene first my constructive suggestion is: let us just go back and find out who was the first one, who mentioned it. Perhaps we look at the list which Axel has made? mithrilfigures.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=july2005&action=display&thread=634hope this helps to calm the waves a bit. Cheers

The good thing also is that I can suggest a new idea !
Grima killing Saruman
Story reminder: When Saruman was overthrown by a hobbit rebellion and ordered to leave, Frodo implored Gríma not to follow him, claiming that he knew of no evil Gríma had ever done him and offering him food and shelter before leaving for his own life. Saruman countered by revealing to the Hobbits that Gríma had murdered and possibly eaten their accomplice Lotho Sackville-Baggins, a kinsman of Frodo, kicking Gríma in the process. This humiliation drove Gríma over the edge;
So here is the scene: Grima attacked Saruman with a knife and slit his former master's throat.

Tuk Brandobras Golfimbul fighting.
Bandobras Tuk, whose story is told in the novel The Hobbit. Bramador Toro also called, is a hobbit of the Shire, son of Isengrim II. It measured four feet and a half and was able to ride a horse, being the tallest hobbit all known, except for Merry and Pippin.
Bandobras was especially known for leading the hobbits in the only battle fought within the borders of the Shire to the War of the Ring, the Battle of Greenfields. Occurred in the year 2747 T. E., when a band of goblins from Mount Gram and led by their king Golfimbul, entered the Shire. The battle ended in victory for the hobbits and the king's death at the hands of Bandobras Orco, with a tremendous blow of his wooden truncheon, he pulled his head.
Brandobras is an adventurous hobbit and very strong. Maya can lead to altitude, helmet or shield. The club can be covered with metal tip.
Golfimbul may be a goblin big and fat, but not very high.
The bullet may represent both struggled, just before he was hit in the head.
Sorry, I do not know English. I have translated.

Gollum CapturedBackground: Three years after Bilbo acquired the ring, Gollum’s desire finally overcame his fear and he ventured forth into the world to begin his long search for the ’thief’ of the Precious. During the next seventy years Gollum hunted high an low, being captured at last by the minions of Sauron at the very borders of Mordor. Description: Gollum is in irons. Around his neck is a steel collar with a length of chain attached. Gollum desperately pulls against it with all his might, but the chain is held by the vice-like grip of his captor - the orc inquisitor. In the orc's other hand is an instrument of extraction (perhaps a hot poker or tongs). Eyeballing the poor creature inquisitively, the orc prepares to poke and prod Gollum for whoopee and giggles first. And then the question is put to him: You were seen from the gates…searching for something. You know of what we speak. What have you done with it? What is its location? Answer truthfully and perhaps you will feel its power once more. Isn’t that what it wants my Precious?

I thought of having Eldarion as an alternative, but lastly decided to suggest Arwen. If this idea would win, I would leave it up to Chris, if a young boy Eldarion is at his mothers' side- I'd prefer that. IMO this is great and the best of the suggestions by far! One note though: A young boy Eldarion is not possible, since Elessar said to Arwen before he set out to his deathbed that Eldarion was a man full-ripe for the kingship (and indeed he gave the crown to Eldarion on his deathbed). Thus only a mature Eldarion might be imaginable who comforts Arwen, but that would of course necessitate three figures (perhaps an idea for a single piece later?). Talking strictly, it would not be possible as well though, since Elessar bade everyone go, leaving only Arwen present in his last moments. And afterwards she went away, saying farewell to her children and then leaving for Cerin Amroth. The situation could capture the moment when Aragorn has just given the crown and sceptre to Eldarion (who might comfort his mother somewhat), but before he and all others left Elessar save for Arwen. Best Tolwen

Second. As for suggesting and re-suggesting ideas, I think HWolf's reply #14 (Apr.5, 2011) referring to Axel's list was a very good one. Everybody here has a chance to have a look at the list of all the suggestions that have been made. As I can only speak for myself, I can say that I use to have a look at that list before I make a suggestion. - Though I know that most of the people around here do not mind if their first suggestion was taken up again by someone else, as they just want to see the figure being released. As far as I can remember this series is called "fellowship".

I will re-suggest one of my previous ideas, that each time received positive reactions but much less votes :
____________________ | | | ROHIR BOY AND GIRL | |____________________|
the boy figure has ‘lended’ the arrows and bow of his father to show his shooting skills to his girlfriend ; he should be ca. the same size as the Bergil figure (M196), but with longer hair, in the usual Rohir clothes, with a tunic onto his knees, no mail coat as it would be to heavy for a young boy anyway, a pot helm on his head, a quiver on his back (of course a little to big for him), and his fathers bow in his hands. He can be standing at rest, or firing, or putting an arrow on his bow (like the pose of the woodman bowman loading, M401). I would prefer the loading pose.
The girl may be slightly smaller as the boy and she raises her arms because her friend made a good shot.
Another attempt to get some more child figures in the Mithril range ; thanks in advance for supporting this idea !

I just went back and read all off those lists. It brought back good memories, and reminded me of all of the good ideas that haven't been made yet by Chris. After 5 years of Fellowship Gold, there are going to be many people suggesting ideas originaly thought of by others. I will do so myself this week, ;-)
It would be nice to see a

These would be dressed appropriately to their occupations, given a North Eastern Middle-Earth culture.

Teobald, I fail to see "unpoliteness" in the postings. On the contrary any fact that can be seen as such is mitigated by a "but I don't mind".
On the suggestions, it seems that DDaines had suggested the vignette some six years ago, while the dual scene (lacking the opportunity to resubmit a full vigenette) comes from Milo. Both are correct :-) When miniatures or vignettes differ slightly from existing suggestions I either sum them up under an existing one or make a new one depending on the difference and my arbitrary mood - sometimes this means that a new facet of a suggestion is lost in my list, for which I apologize to all affected so. Anyway, with the easter holidays just a week ahead I will soon update the list to include the newest miniatures.
On the double suggestion: I always liked the fighting scenes that Chris created, so I tend to submit one of these. His archers, on the other hand - those in firing pose - lack credibility to me (sorry). Try to add arrow and strings and you see what I mean. Any archer should not be in firing pose - they boy could be bragging about his skills to the girl, for example... But I need another day to ponder this one...

Haldir and Sam"He turned and saw that Sam was now standing beside him, looking round with a puzzled expression, and rubbing his eyes as if he was not sure that he was awake. 'It's sunlight and bright day, right enough,' he said. 'I thought that Elves were all for moon and stars: but this is more elvish than anything I heard tell of. I feel as if I was inside a song, if you take my meaning. Haldir looked at him, and he seemed indeed to take the meaning of both thought and word. He smiled." A lovely little scene with Sam, hands near his eyes like he had just rubbed them and Haldir looking down at him smiling. I know it won't win. I just wanted an excuse to type the text.
