Thanks to all who submitted these great ideas for October. Due to the extended time period, plus my holidays next week, I have decided to extend the first round until the end of October. I will then do a short 2nd round on 1st Nov until 6th.
This round is blind so you will only see the current status of the vote after you submitted yours. Any comments or photos added to support your favourite idea, even if you did not originally submit it, is welcome.
Note that the Balrog was considered too big and had too many accessories to fit into the single figure category currently. (Chris Tubb).

Autumn time - Autumn theme: So far there is only the Hobbit Farmer Maggot two times in the mithril range. Hobbit Farmer Tom Cotton with wheelbarrow full of VegetablesA named Hobbit character who is also still missing in the Miithril range: Old Tom Cotton, father of Rosie Cotton (who later is the wife of Sam Gamgee after his adventures, see also M357: Rose Gamgee and Goldilocks) and at least 4 sons. And in fact that he is one of the farmers of the Shire, it whould be nice if he is depicted pushing a small wooden wheelbarrow with a load of freshly harvested Hobbit food basics: carrots, cabbage, onions, leek, turnips, taters – Po – ta – toes a bigger pumpkin... etc i think Mr. Cotton could make a nice funny special one. Also he is a good example for the peaceful little Shire-folk and their habits, as Tolkien describes them and he is a counterpiece to all those many brave warriors and fighters! Of course Mr. Cotton is brave too – he plays no small role in the battle freeing the Shire from the suppression of Sharkey and his ruffians! from LotR The Return of the King Chapter VIII The scouring of the Shire

Oathbreaker, Dead Man of Dunharrow
In keeping with the "spirit" of the season I propose an undead warrior following Aragorn's command to fulfill his oath after the summoning at the stone of Erech. I see a badly decomposing figure shambling forward toward the fleet of Umbar with a rusting sword or spear and beaten shield. Or perhaps with a horn blowing as Tolkien described. Wearing a torn cloak or mail that hangs loosely on it's skeletal frame. No helmet so you can really see it's grimacing skull. A terrifying visage for those manning the ships at Pelargir.
We have few undead creatures in the Mithril line and this type of figure can be used in many different settings and campaigns so perhaps it will also appeal to others that don't always purchase Mithril figures.
LotR: RotK Chapter 9 The Last Debate
"‘But Aragorn halted and cried with a great voice: “Now come! By the Black Stone I call you! “ And suddenly the Shadow Host that had hung back at the last came up like a grey tide, sweeping all away before it. Faint cries I heard, and dim horns blowing, and a murmur as of countless far voices: it was like the echo of some forgotten battle in the Dark Years long ago. Pale swords were drawn; but I know not whether their blades would still bite, for the Dead needed no longer any weapon but fear. None would withstand them.
‘To every ship they came that was drawn up, and then they passed over the water to those that were anchored; and all the mariners were filled with a madness of terror and leaped overboard, save the slaves chained to the oars."

I was hoping we would have as many suggestions as we did last month... It was nice to see all of the creative ideas plus reading those descriptions made me start reading LotR again, even though I tend to read it almost once a year anyway!!

Thrain, crazy, imprisoned in Dol Guldur. His ragged appearance, in addition to his limp and his blind eye (battle wounds of Azanulbizar), it might be a good idea for Halloween.

Tar-Minyatur, the first king of Numenor.
There is already MS502 Tar-Minastir in the range, so there is a precedent for a Numenorean character.

I admit your idea is very interesting Gondolin, and I would gladly vote for it if it is allowed by the tolkien Licence... Elros is mentionned quite clearly in the LOTR appendices, he is not a Silmarillion only character.
Maybe calling him "Elros Tar-Minyatur" without mentionning Numenor in the title would make it more legit when it comes to licencing?
Can you tell us Michael is this suggestion is legit? It would be a GREAT idea !!

Gildor Inglorion at LindonA new attempt :-) Dress in Noble robe. Inglorion appears only in travel gears in Mithril range. Son of InglaurÎ, the daughter of Finrod and Amarie, and her Telerin husband Elphin; born in Aman. He came with Glorfindel to Endor in the Dark Year. His wife is Falvereth, a Falathren noble. "Gildor's ancestry appears to be a loose thread that Tolkien never properly tied up. Gildor calls himself "Gildor Inglorion of the House of Finrod". At the time Tolkien was writing this, the name Finrod referred to the third son of Finwë, and this Finrod had a son, Inglor Felagund. Since Inglorion means "son of Inglor", the straightforward reading is that "Gildor Inglorion" was the son of Inglor, son of Finrod, son of Finwë king of the Noldor – an elf of very high lineage, cousin to Elrond and Galadriel." The Bodyguard of Bolg
Bolg was the son of Azog - the orc chieftain responsible for the War of the Dwarves and the Orcs. Bolg led the goblin forces at the Battle of the Five Armies in the Hobbit.
"There a host of Wargs came ravening and with them came the bodyguard of Bolg, goblins of huge size with scimitars of steel...The Wargs were scattered and Thorin drove right against the bodyguards of Bolg. But he could not pierce their ranks...and they (the Dwarves) were forced into a great ring, facing every way, hemmed all about...The bodyguard of Bolg came howling against them, and drove in upon their ranks like waves upon cliffs of sand." extracts from The Hobbit.
So I suggest a single, large Goblin, heavily armoured with a large scimitar and shield. Hideous to look upon with severed heads on its belt (harking back to when Azog severed the head of Thror, the Dwarven King).

We need at least one more idea to meet the requirements for voting. Chris has said that Elros is outside the scope of our license. Can someone explain clearly what is within or outside the scope of Mithril's licence, please. If Elros is "outside" its remit, then this presumably means that the entire LOTR Appendices fall outside it too. But if that's the case, how can it have been OK to produce Annatar, Tar-Minastir, Ostoher etc, who - unless my memory is at fault - only occur in the Appendices? Currently I'm confused.

all tolkien names are trademarked, one by one , property of MEE (middle Earth Enterprise, formerly Tolkien Enterprises) to be used and licenced...
Elros may not be part of the trademarks and if not... it means it remains the sole intellectual property of the Tolkien Estate which means it can't be used for ANY derived products... except on some occasion for illustrators who work for the Tolkien Estate for the book illustrations (Nasmith, Howe, Lee... etc)
It is a pity because Tar-Minyatur may be available to be licenced... but Elros is not... even if it is the same person...

Basically, then, there's a total mish-mash of ownerships - which is very unhelpful to us when suggesting Fellowship figures!

Paladin II Took
Another famous Took, Paladin II was the 19th head of the Took clan, and the 31st Thain, the title of the military leader of the Shire. When Saruman began taking over the Shire during the events of the Lord of the Rings by using fellow hobbit Lotho Sackville-Baggins, Paladin II stood up to Lotho by resisting his authority and calling upon the military power of his position as Thain. As a result, the Tooks’ resistance force became central to the power struggle between Saruman’s men and the Shire. In addition, Paladin II granted 100 hobbit troops to the final battle of the War of the Ring, the Battle of Bywater, wherein Saruman’s forces were defeated and run out of the Shire.

Leaflock, one of the Ents of Fangorn Forest sitting and thinking Connection with the LOTR: Finglas, Fladrif, and Fangorn, were the oldest of the Ents of Fangorn Forest still alive in the later Third Age. According to Treebeard, Leaflock had become tired, sometimes sleeping through entire seasons (although formerly he used to rouse up in winter), and tree-like with a covering of leafy hair.

Nice idea, but he would never sit! As Treebeard explains, Ents are "not very bendable" - hence no seats in their houses. Treebeard describes Leaflock as having "taken to standing by himself half-asleep ... with the deep grass of the meadows round his knees".

Basically, then, there's a total mish-mash of ownerships - which is very unhelpful to us when suggesting Fellowship figures! It is not only that, the rules tightened during the making of films as lawyers got far more sensitive about it. Basically we rely on Chris Tubb to decide on what counts for a reason. But it is still possible for Middle-earth Enterprises to squash an idea once submitted to them. Luckily this is extremely rare and we have a good relationship with them. I have to add TM after many names and have even changed titles to match requests by M.M.E. to protect copyrights. It is very complicated and we cannot give you a perfect line in the sand where a name is guaranteed to be ok to submit. It is more nuanced than that.

I have only one question.... the basic point of all Tolkien's masterpieces imagination or what.... do you think about this... ? Tolkien wrote about the LotR "it's a poor thing, but my own"; so, in my point of view, a series that want to be faithful, or at least as close as possible to the author's ideas, should follow what Tolkien has written, when he did: it means obviously that when nothing is said about a character, a place, a banner, an armour (...) everyone is free to use his own imagination. Personally, I appreciate the Mithril series as it tries to keep its independence from the movies, and - more - as it tries to keep its figures closer to the book (unfortunately for me this doesn't happen always); when I think a figure is too far from the book or its spirit, I don't like it and sometimes I don't even buy it (or I try to modify it). This is Tolkien world, "his own thing", so - since it's obviously impossible to realize exactly what he had in his mind - I guess it would be better to follow what he has written as close as possible. This is obviously my very personal point of view. Anyway, dear Thingol, I have to say that I like very much your idea ...that's why I said "I fear"
