After a few days delay we now have enough ideas to push forward. Chris submitted the new list to me this morning. Thanks to all members involved in these new submissions and good luck to you in the following vote. This is a blind vote so you will only see the results after you submit your vote. You only have one. The top two or three will go forward to the final round in a weeks time, (2nd round starts Friday 24th)

Ruffian spokesman – The Scouring of the Shire
“Where d’you think you’re going? said one, the largest and most evil-looking of the crew. “There’s no road for you any further………”I will suggest as Tolkien describes when the hobbits arrive at Bywater and encounter a large group of ruffians lounging against the wall of the Green Dragon Inn, a large brutish-looking thug with a cudgel in one hand and pointing an accusing finger at the hobbits. He has a horn hanging by his side, and features that resemble the squint-eyed Southerners.

As recently Frodo the Hobbit hero has won the voting, Congratulations!
I will resuggest Sam with Baby some month later this spring and whould like to resuggest a bigger character:
Treebeard at Isengard, Rise of the Ents
I'd like to suggest wise old Treebeard as single figure, without the Hobbits Merry and Pippin, in the scene when he and the other Ents set things right at Isengard.
Maybe the different posture of a single Treebeard has one arm outstretched pointing at the Tower of Orthanc and his head turned left or right, as he is the commanding leader, or he eventually takes part in the destruction of Isengard's evil machinery stomping or tearing apart some debris and shows impressive the huge strength of the Ents! "Dont be hasty – Buraroom, Huuuuuooom!"
Lord of the Rings The two Towers Chapter IV "Treebeard"
They found that they were looking at a most extraordinary face. It belonged to a large Man-like, almost Troll-like, figure, at least fourteen foot high, very sturdy, with a tall head, and hardly any neck. Whether it was clad in stuff like green and grey bark, or whether that was its hide, was difficult to say. At any rate the arms, a short distance from the trunk, were not wrinkled, but covered with a brown smooth skin. The large feet had seven toes each. The lower part of the long face was covered with a sweeping grey beard, bushy, almost twiggy at the roots, thin and mossy at the ends. But at the moment the Hobbits noted little but the eyes. These deep eyes were now surveying them, slow and solemn, but very penetrating. They were brown, shot with a green light.

Cardolanian Ragger
The Raggers (D."Ragh Creann-Sleagh" or "Raging Pikes") were a traditional class of professional Soldiers in Eriador, especially Cardolan. These Raggers were for the most part, descendants of Númenórean Colonists or Warriors who took indigenious women and passed their craft and profession on to their sons anmd grandsons. The Raggers were considered Tergil or "lesser Dúnedain" and were renowned Fighters, especially Pikemen.Aditionally to their traditional set of arms, the High-Helmet, Hauberk and Pike they also used a weapon unique to them, a kind of backsword known as the Ragger's Knife.

Bilbo handing over the Mithril shirt
Bilbo, settled down in Rivendale, handing over the famous shirt to a non-included Frodo. The miniature could also be a stand-alone for Bilbo musing about his adventures while taking a glance to his old treasures.
Actually this is a suggestion from my wife, when I asked her what she would like. :-)

Half-Orc of Isengard climbing a ladder, holding in his left hand his shield over his head for protection. He is wearing chain mail and a helmet. His sword is still in the sheath. There is single handed axe on a rope, hanging off his right wrist.

The Bodyguard of Bolg
Bolg was the son of Azog - the orc chieftain responsible for the War of the Dwarves and the Orcs. Bolg led the goblin forces at the Battle of the Five Armies in the Hobbit.
"There a host of Wargs came ravening and with them came the bodyguard of Bolg, goblins of huge size with scimitars of steel...The Wargs were scattered and Thorin drove right against the bodyguards of Bolg. But he could not pierce their ranks...and they (the Dwarves) were forced into a great ring, facing every way, hemmed all about...The bodyguard of Bolg came howling against them, and drove in upon their ranks like waves upon cliffs of sand." extracts from The Hobbit.
So I suggest a single, large Goblin, heavily armoured with a large scimitar and shield. Hideous to look upon with severed heads on its belt (harking back to when Azog severed the head of Thror, the Dwarven King).

We still need at least one more idea to get to the minimum number of seven.

Why do you need that? - In case there are not enough suggestions you can decide that there will be no February figure this year. (Though I still wonder who set that limit of seven suggestions.) - But that might give a chance to catch up a bit. April and May 2015 (sic !!!) was Tobold Hornblower and a mounted Elfhelm if I remember well. What about those figures?

Arwen in the feasting hall as she first appears in the books.
I know that she should really be under a canopy and this would preclude her from the vote but maybe just sitting as if she was under a canopy.

I've never heard of this "minimum of seven" requirement before either, Master Theobald. Perhaps I haven't been paying attention? If there were more mounted figure or "two-figure" months it would certainly be easier to make more (worthwhile) suggestions....

Alas, there even once was the idea of a vignette-suggestion once a year, if I remember well, Master Barliman. For you that must have been a very long time ago by now. - Anyway, that strange "seven-suggestion-limit" has been met by now as it seems. So we just have to await the explanation for that limiting. I wouldn't wonder if the origin of that was forged somewhere in Mordor.

This was the rule for a few years at this stage. This rule was added to the website for joining the fellowship too. It is not a new rule. We have extended votes before because of this. The number itself was chosen by Chris.

Cardolanian Ragger
I like the design as on the drawing Of Liz bu how to be sure the company will design real long pikes?

>design real long pikes
A "pike" should come seperate. As someone who collects Landsknecht (and their contemporaries) I can assure you that there is no way to actually cast a believable pike with the miniature. Even when it does not break it will never look straight enough. There are several ways to provide pikes - metal pikes are stable but can be (believe me) dangerous when they come with a sharp end - a rod in ~1mm looks good but lacks a pikehead. Plastic pikes can have nice heads, but tend to break when you do not handle the miniature carefull - and I doubt that Mithril can provide these in plastic. My main source of pikes are one broom head (4 €) that yields some 1000 pikes at roughly 8cm when you use a good knife. The problem is to find a broom that has round bristles, rather then oval or flattened. The advantage is that you need only one for a ragger, and you will probably find at least one on any broom without ruining it when you cut it off :-)
Perhaps Mthril can just provide a cast pikehead on the mini that we can carefully drill and then attach to a metal or plastic rod - or we live with a dull point and take care of that with paint. I really hope they will not try to make it part of the cast, as they tend to be either too short (more spear then pike), too thick or bendy and fragile.
BTW: a good source for plastic pikes comes from Fireforge. Another solution would be for Mithril to get hold of their pike pack and put one into each blister. Or just one broombristle :-)

Well, if the female dwarf wins I hope she'll be provided with a beard as well as long braids. (Yes, Tolkien's writings confirm that female dwarves had beards!)

Just to clarify the Arwen suggestion is obviously not in Meduseld as she never made it there, even in the films ( although I believe there are reports that they filmed her at Helms Deep XenArwen!!!). I actually meant in the feasting hall in Imladris as Frodo first saw her.
I suggested this figure for personal reasons as I am in process of making a scale version of Imladris as shown in the ICE book Rivendell with individual scenes in different parts of the house. I have teh council set which is ideal for the council chambers and the other household of Elrond work especially well for the hall of fire and library etc but I have limited figure options for the feast hall.
Hopefully this figure will get made at some point, no rush as I am still in the early stages of the project.
