Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This month we are open to all types of suggestions, including single figures, mounted figures, double figures, and even vignettes. Past examples are Death of Boromir, Sauron at Gorgoroth, Queen Beruthiel and Thorin entombed with the Arkenstone. Remember that the more elaborate the idea the more expensive it will be. Please keep this in mind when explaining your idea. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. This suggestion board stops taking new ideas at 16.00 GMT on the 16th. Voting will begin on the 17th of November (first round) in the afternoon (GMT). Second round voting will commence on the 23rd. This will last until the 30th of November. All votes will end at 16.00 GMT or BST (british standard time). You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

How about Aragorn summoning the Army of the Dead at Erech. Don't have the book in front of me, I'm at work, but it could be Aragorn standing by the stone with a horn in one hand, I beleive he blew the horn to summon the dead. With Halbarad holding Aragorn's standard next to the stone. Chris could also have Gimli and/or Legolas off to one side.
I hope I have the details correct.
ADDED:
To that Stone the Company came and halted in the dead of night. Then Elrohir gave to Aragorn a silver horn, and he blew upon it; and it seemed to those that stood near that they heard a sound of answering horns, as if it was an echo in deep caves far away. No other sound they heard, and yet they were aware of a great host gathered all about the hill on which they stood; and a chill wind like the breath of ghosts came down from the mountains. But Aragorn dismounted, and standing by the Stone he cried in a great voice: 'Oathbreakers, why have ye come?' And a voice was heard out of the night that answered him, as if from far away: 'To fulfil our oath and have peace.' Then Aragorn said: 'The hour is come at last. Now I go to Pelargir upon Anduin, and ye shall come after me. And when all this land is clean of the servants of Sauron, I will hold the oath fulfilled, and ye shall have peace and depart for ever. For I am Elessar, Isildur's heir of Gondor.' And with that he bade Halbarad unfurl the great standard which he had brought; and behold! it was black, and if there was any device upon it, it was hidden in the darkness.

In ancient Mithril history, the "cardolan mercenary" has seen two incarnations, one in the Cardolan release in battle, looking up, and one in the Prancing Pony release, playing cards. I would like to see a similar reapearance of another famed miniature. To be specific, I want a new version of the beautiful female ranger, incarnated first by the M16. So my suggestion for this month is:
A mounted female ranger of the north, M16 reborn!

Hello fellowship members!
First of all: Congrats to gilgaladtolkien for the suggestion of Thranduil in Battle gear, now we all can look forward to the special Elf-lord!
Thanks to all who gave their support to Celebrian last time.
So for the great sympathy for her, here comes my other idea as a vignette this month:
I suggest the DRAMATICAL RESCUE OF CELEBRIAN BY ELLADAN AND ELROHIR FROM THE ORCS
The story: Lady Celebrian, daughter of Galadriel & Celeborn, wife of Elrond and mother of the twin brothers and Lady Arwen travelled once from Rivendell to Lorien (I wonder what may have happened to her companions, sure she didn't travel alone...) and was attacked and captured by cruel orcs. She was rescued soon afterwards by her brave sons. She got a poisoned wound from the orcs (curse 'em!) at the capture, was fortunedly healed by her husband but got sad of middle-earth, so she went over the sea on a ship to the undying lands and left middle-earth.
So the vignette could show Celebrian (maybe her garments are a little bit ragged – blackhides are not gentle...) fleeing, or better protected by one of her sons, Bow or sword ready while the other Twin is fighting at least one attacking orc. (If that 4 figure vignette should extend the costs too much, we have enough orcs to complete the scene, I think... although in Thorins Thomb there are 4 figures also, smaller ones, okay...)
I imagine Elrohir and Elladan in ranger stuff instead of armour, with swords, daggers and Bows armed, shouting in anger. so we whould have the matching part to Elrohir from the House of Elrond series...
Cheers, Harald

While I have always been in support of the crowning of Elessar by Gandalf.... I think I may have a better idea... A touching scene of pure joy and happiness... King Elessar and Queen Evenstar with baby Eldarion in her arms, both smiling at him in a very loving scene, in regal costumes... Somewhat the same "happy" scene that you can see in the long version of RoTK movie when you see Arwen "predicting" the future and you see Eldarion running to his dad... This would make a very beautiful and happy scene... And besides... Only two characters and a baby.... should not be a lot more expensive than the Faramir & Eowyn scene. (which would change... after all these death scenes, and sad (though perfectly beautiful) vignettes ) Let me know your comments

I think I will suggest a variation of King Brand and King Dain. I would like them standing back to back in desperate defense fighting against the servants of Sauron in the War of the Ring. (The enemy is implied, not actually part of the scene.) Maybe King Brand is defending and Dain is in full swing with his ax or using it like a club. Shields of both are well dented and cut. Maybe Brand has already lost his. King Brand falls first, then Dain defends his body. Such heroism seems like it would deserve a figure being made. If one would like expand the scene and put in some enemies against which to fight, there are plenty of orcs and such to add from regular releases. Two figures shouldn't be too pricey.

Good variation of my old idea, Wendy ! My suggestion for november will be a totally different and new thing for Mithril and even Chris. I once offered this idea to other members but there was no reply. So this is it: I would like to see the west gate of Moria as a relief. It should look like the sketch by Prof. Tolkien. The surface of the rocky door should be quite smooth and flat. But not too flat! The elvish words, signs, stars and the both trees would look fine as if they were carved into the stone. The Material could be as thin as a base. So the costs won´t be that high! The height of the inner bow of the gate should be a little more than a tall man´s size. The edges of the relief should look like natural withered stone. It would be very nice for diorama-builders or a brillant centerpoint and eyecatcher in every single collection. There are so many relations if got in my mind: the signs are made of Ithildin which is made of Mithril, the mmp-homepage, the Watcher in the water, Bill the pony, Gandalf pondering . . . I´m curious what all of you think about it . . .

Bombadil, I like that idea! I have long wished for a "Watcher" vignette with the Gate, but alas it would be too much. If we could have the West Gates of Moria, that would be wonderful piece, useful to collectors, diorama builders, and RPGers alike. I will still suggest an idea later, as the more the better, but I would not be sorry to see this produced!

I shall revert to my old suggestion of a trumpeting Ent this month - just one figure, albeit a large(ish) one! You all know the passage by now. As Theoden, Gandalf and co. ride from Helm's Deep en route to Isengard, they pass beneath the eaves of the strange wood that now fills the dale and encounter several Ents:
'There came forward out of the trees three strange shapes. As tall as trolls they were, twelve feet or more in height; their strong bodies, stout as young trees, seemed to be clad with raiment or with hide of close-fitting grey and brown. Their limbs were long, and their hands had many fingers; their hair was stiff, and their beards grey-green as moss ... Suddenly they lifted their long hands to their mouths, and sent forth ringing calls, clear as notes of a horn, but more musical and various. The calls were answered; and turning again, the riders saw other creatures of the same kind approaching, striding through the grass.'
Chris's Ents are unquestionably the best rendition of any that have ever been commercially available, and it would be nice to see a new one - in an 'action' pose! - after so many years!
If it needs a character name we can call it Theobald, after our own resident tree.

Huuooommmm .... barliman, to me this is a very nice idea , though I have to admit that I don't think that the name is applicable because it doesn't sound Entish at all huoommmrhuom ... thank you. I'm also thinking about an Ent-suggestion for a vignette for half a year now ... but cannot haste evrything, as you all might guess. As for me I'm still waiting for a vignette-suggestion for Lossie, the hunter, (there was a brilliant sketch published) and I really feel obliged to support him again, as I did several times. Huoommm ... so I am just waiting for such a suggestion to arrive here again and I would never post it as my idea. huoommm ... so I have to wait a bit ... rhuom

Morning Madams and Sirs or MAE GOVANNEN,
I will put again my suggestion of the brothers RUMIL and OROPHIN as I did some time before. I cannot find the description anymore, but I would not like to see them as a vignette, as I think the fellowship members shuld be free to just collect the minis, paint them, put them in a diorama and so on. I would like to see the elven watchers armed with bow and/or spear, nice swords and in Elven cloaks, but not so rustic as some of the first Mithril Elves were. I would like to suggest them with an arrogant look, flowing cloaks, obviously moved by the cold wind blowing from the East (Hm, Chris do you do like to become a painter??).
[glow=red,2,300]A SPECIAL NOTICE: [/glow] [glow=red,2,300]THIS WEEK END WILL BE THE LARGEST TOLKIEN MEETING IN THE WORLD RINGCON 2006 in Fulda, Germany[/glow]
You can see there a nice exhibition of MITHRIL miniatures[/color], vignettes, Dioramas and so on. So catch your wife, child and dog and come to the RingCon and visit the MITHRIL exhibition.

Well, as soon as I found out that one of the MS figures was about to become scare, I finally got off the fence and ordered the whole lot! *ouch* Well, it's good to be collecting again. So, I'm in for the whole 9 yards now. ;D I would like to offer up to my boon Fellowship compadres the following figure for consideration: a figure (or vignette) of Gandalf, Chief Herald of Gondor (and King Elesar) at the Black Gate. I envision him standing tall in his glory (his cloak thrown back to remind the sevants of Sauron that he is Gandalf the White), his hands clasping the tokens he took in righteous anger from the Mouth of Sauron. 'Course, you could expand this out to consist of a vignette of Gandalf and a recoiling Mouth.

This time I will leave the Lossoth Hunter with Sled to another member to suggest (maybe you, Theobald?), and go back to my first vignette suggestion: Theodred, Elfhelm and Grimbold at the Battle of the Isen Fords. It is time to see Theodred get his due as a Mithril piece, and Grimbold and Elfhelm too!

Thank you very much, twrich, for that honour But I never thought of suggesting an idea of another member and will keep to it. I'm sure that in future there will be enough time to resuggest the 'hunter'.

At first thank you all for supporting "Thranduil". As a great fan of "The Hobbit" I suggest a vignette with the theme "Gandalf battles the Great Goblin".

This time I will retake someone else idea of Bombur. Waiting to see a release of him, with all the dwarves, my suggestion will be sligtlyt different.
When Bombur trips into the Mirkwood river, he falls under a spell that makes him sleep for days. The vignette will be 4 pour dwarves carring a smily asleep bombur.
Maybe a very expensive viggenete taking into acount that only Bombur will need a lot of metal by himshelf.

Sleeping Bombu is an excellent idea, Ori.
Just to be original i however suggest a different idea.
I seems to remember that the Mouth of Sauron henchmen has been suggested before but since this is a vignette/large piece month i suggest " Knight of Barad Dur" based on the following lines out of the Lord of the Rings.
" <The Leutenant of Barad Dur (MoS)> it was that now rode out, and him came a small company of black-harnessed soldiery, and a single banner, black but bearing on it in red the Evil Eye."
I figure this Black Numenorean night, in elaborate armor and tall numenorean helmet would be a good compliment to MoS, the new Gothmog or any of the nazgul.

Hmmmm...
decisions decisions. I'd go for Rumil and Orophin IF Haldir was present... but...
I am going to re-resubmit Elladan in Ranger garb.
However, having read this thread, I'd offer the following:
Elladan has the silver horn mentioned in the "Aragorn" suggestion. Perhaps he is mounted. He has a bow, held at the ready, but not firing. He has an elven cloak over his ranger garb and a mail shirt, though possibly with a few flourishes.
I can visualise a wonderful diorama of the Fellowship "Aragorn with Palantir" and "Halbarad" and the "King of the Dead" along with the M339 Elrohir and perhaps the "Watcher at Sarn Ford" all clustered around the Black Stone at Erech, as Aragorn summons the dead to war.
So: Elladan, in Ranger Garb, mounted or dismounted.

Here we go my first ever post.....
Following in the House of Eorl theme how about Folca 13th king of Rohan. Not because the character is hugely important - but i do think it could make a beautiful piece.
The Character....
Folca was the 13th King of Rohan and a great hunter. He vowed never to hunt another wild animal until all the orcs had been driven from Rohan, when this was achieved he celebrated by hunting 'The Great Boar of Everholt' in the Firien Wood. He was wounded in the hunt and although he slew the beast he later died of his wounds.
The model?
I see the Folca in hunting garb lying on his back propped against (something....tree stump..rock) one leg bent at the knee foot on the floor - he has been wounded by the boar which is now bearing down on him - intent on finishing once and for all. Folca is armed with a stout boar spear which he has wedged in the floor and holds with both hands. As the boar lunges Folca angles the spear to penetrate the beasts chest and the animal is impaled on the spear by virtue of the ferosity of its own attack......
Any way any thoughts....

OK, I will resubmit my idea from last month. I was thinking of the final struggle between Frodo and Gollum for control of the ring over the fires of Mt. Doom? Perhaps just at the moment when Frodo loses his finger and becomes visible?
