Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures.
Post your suggestions here. ONE per member.

We are ONLY accepting ideas for single figures, NOT mounted figures or vignettes. No exceptions.
Due to Christmas holidays we are going to have extend the suggestion phase until 2007 and split the eventual vote into two. I am going to ask for a GOOD Guy (e.g.: allies of Gondor) idea for December and a BAD Guy (e.g.: allies of Mordor) idea for January.
So start your Suggestions with 'BAD GUY IDEA' or 'GOOD GUY IDEA' so no confusion occurs. DO NOT suggest both ideas in the same post.
Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote.
This suggestion board stops taking new ideas at 16.00 GMT on the 9th of January.

Voting will begin on the 10th of January (first round) in the afternoon (GMT).
Second round voting will commence on the 23rd. This will last until the 31st of January. All votes will end at 16.00 GMT or BST (british standard time).

You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English.

Bad Guy Idea
Well after many thoughts, the only "bad guy" I can think about is GOLFIMBUL, Orc King of Mount Gram (from which the Golf Game was invented)

Good Guy Idea
Why not the counterpart of Golfimbul : Bullroarer Took who cut the head of Golfimbul (which ended up in a rabbit hole) (the figurine being of Bullroarer his foot on Golfimbul head protruding from a rabbit hole, with a slightly incurved sword on his hand)
Actually having both of them would make a cool pair... but they are not forced to be together
(I admit this would be a very funny figurine for this new year feast)

A big "Thank You!" to all supporters of the West Gate!
It was a very tiring discussion and I feel a little burned out now. But happy!
I´m sure it will be a great item for every collector in the end.

But now the bad creature first: I wish to see a nobleman of the Haradrim! Maybe a prince, duke, earl or a wealthy knight. Clad with a rich decorated burnus and a turban! With valuable jewellery and a mighty scimetar! A breast-armour and a dagger with lots of gem-stones.

He´s supposed to watch his soldiers dying before the Rohirrim in the battle on the Pellenor Fields. Thus he is looking surprised, furious but even frightened to death!

GOOD GUY IDEA

Hello dear fellowship members!

As in fact there was very much interrest for her in october voting,
I resuggest a character, that wasn't made by Chris so far:

LADY CELEBRIAN,
Daughter of Galadriel & Celeborn, wife of Elrond
and mother of the twin brothers and Lady Arwen

The story about her is that she travelled once from Rivendell to Lorien
and was attacked, captured and tormented by cruel orcs.
She was rescued by her brave sons but she got sad of middle-earth,
she was healed by her husband Elrond the Loremaster from a wound of an orc arrow,
but she got sad of middle-earth, so she went over the sea to the undying lands and left middle-earth some time ago.

Time to complete the family of Elrond!

I suggest a reincarnation of the Dunadan Female Ranger, M16 in a generic pose (as chosen by Chris, either resting, fighting, sitting in the Pony, etc...).

I was thinking of something else, that wasn't there from mithril so far like the moria gate:

A Silent Watcher!

Guardian of the Tower of Cirith Ungol
Mysterious beings set to watch the road and guard
the entrance to the Tower of Cirith Ungol. Though the Silent Watchers are never identified with certainty, it seems that the name probably refers to beings such as the Two Watchers, the triple-bodied, vulture-headed creatures that sat silently and malevolently within the archway of the Tower's gate.

This whould be a bigger single figure of course, but they need not the be of solid lead
at the back side, but somehow strange and special! Even the base could be left out.

And with two of them, the entrance of Cirith Ungol tower whould be protected...

In case this suggestion is too big for a single figure
my Alternate whould be: (I hope I don't break a rule...)

UFTHAK - an orc victim of Shelob!

He was a orc in the service of the Tower of Cirith Ungol, under the command of Shagrat.
He was captured, poisoned and (presumably) eaten by Shelob, since his fellow Orcs made no attempt to rescue him.

So how about a nice figure of an poor orc warrior, captured and spun in some spider strings or cobweb - perhaps hanging upside down, it needs only a little bit of rocky environment - with weird twisted limbs and a strange, fearful look on his face in view of Shelobs horror...
He could be a piece like the splendid Helm Hammerhand figure,
from which you don't know if he is dead or alive?

I hesitated to suggest these ones . . . I always thought they belong to the Tower of Cirith Ungol as a part of the fortifications.
And there was enough debating about the gate last month!

Angbor the Fearless, Prince of Lamedon!
He lead an army to Minas Tirith after defending Linhir against the corsairs during the war of the Ring.

He would be a good addition to the Lossarnach series. Awaiting the corsairs . . .

They have cropped up before and somewhere I submitted an old photo to Michael, but,

Good guy:

Eomer dismounted.

Bad guy:

Ugluk being removed from the gene pool of Middle Earth by Eomer.

Both figures would complement each other to form, yes, a vignette, but a vignette released as two separate figures.

Next time we have a vignette allowance, if I remember to submit the idea I have just thought about Grishnakh trying to steal away with the two hobbits - unless someone would like to suggest bad guy as Grishnakh and good guy as one of the hobbits (unless two Hobbits can count as one Human!).

BAD GUY:

My bad dude suggestion is so blindingly obvious that I don't know why it hasn't occurred to me before - a Man of the hypothetical 'Angrenost Guard' (Saruman's personal bodyguard troop, his 'most trusted servants'). This unit is admittedly non-canonical, having been postulated by Chris and/or Martin Treadaway in issue 2 of 'Tengwar' a decade and more ago, but it has now become part of Mithril's own contribution to the 'extended history' of Middle-earth!

Although such a Guardsman figure formed part of the aborted Mw347 'Isengard Warband' set, well-informed rumour has it that, unlike all the other figures from this set, he has not survived the passage of time and is apparently lost for ever. Consequently the Fellowship provides an ideal means of rescuing this lost figure from oblivion!

Chris will doubtless already have the pose and appearance of this guy stored in his memory from its previous incarnation (see the picture on p.2 of the 'Saruman's Army' article in 'Tengwar')!

The good guy I shall have to think about for a bit longer. :-[

My suggestion is for Nain the dwarven warrior standing defiantly when he was calling out Azog. ( " Then Nain stood before the Gate and cried with a great voice: ' Azog! If you are in come out! Or is the play in the valley too rough?")

Bad guy:
Azog the Orc ( " Thereupon Azog came forth, and he was a great Orc with a huge iron-clad head, and yet agile and strong")

Being new to the fellowship I don't know if these figures have ever been suggested or made before, so please forgive my ignorance if they have.

GOOD GUY IDEA - A Minas Tirith Citadel Guardsman.

BAD GUY IDEA - a Black Troll from the Black Gate (partly becuase I missed out on the commissioned Olog-hai awhile back). ;D In hind sight, I suppose I should have recommended a Pippin at the Black Gate for the Good Guy idea, to match my bad guy idea...oh well. I see this brute "naked" but for a scrap of skin about "his" loins and "his" armor-like skin, wielding a massive hammer in "his" blood-lusting frenzy.

I should have read Michael's thread more closely about not mentioning the goodie and the baddie in the same post, so at the risk of repeating myself:

Good Guy: Eomer (on foot fighting with his sword).

- Eomer on foot. Eomer looking dynamic and handsome, helmetless. (We shall assume it just fell off).

"Stern now was Eomer's mood, and his mind clear again. He let the blow the horns to rally all men to his banner that could come thither, for he thought to make a great shield wall at the last, and stand, and fight there on foot till all fell, and do deeds of song on the fields of the Pellenor...

Eomer is in motion, left arm gripping the shield of Rohan. His helmet is gone, his hair streams behind him in the wind. He's handsome and terrible, a warrior king facing his doom with his head held high.

The trick would be his right arm. I suggest three seperate right arms to go with the piece.

One right arm holds a longsword (the same one from the mounted miniature). With this arm, Eomer is in battle with someone who is about to meet their doom.

The next right arm holds the banner of Rohan. I suspect the banner of Rohan should be something bigger, along the lines of that portrayed in Alan Lee's Battle of the Pellenor Fields painting.

The final right arm is a sword held in the typical Mithril "leadership" position, high in the air.

A good way to cover the bases of wargamer and modeller, and offers diorama makers three seperate (and interesting) options for Eomer King.

Bad Guy

How about...a Mercenary Captain in the service of Sauron.

Perhaps the guy is a Corsair reaver, or a Dunlending raider, or an Easterling warrior. Whoever he is, he is a fell handed and competant captain of men. He bears the scars of many wars, and is armed and armoured with the pickings from many campaigns. His mail is taken from a Rohir or Gondorian captain, and is very fine. He fights with a powerful battle axe taken from some Easterling enemy. His shield is found, and bears no device or design. At his belt he wears a long curved sword in its scabbard, and a selection of fighting knives. A Southron bow is bound unstrung to his pack. Under his mail he wears beautiful robes won from a generous Umbarean employer.

He is a mighty warrior, and Sauron of Mordor has paid him very well indeed.

OK, Good Guy: The Lossoth Hunter, once again, with hooded furs, belt with long knife, and boots. A polar-bear tooth chain about his neck would be cool . . . But this time his stance is one of fear, ready to fight, with spear thrust out before him , and hide-bound shield clutched in defense, as he faces the Bad Guy . . .

Bad Guy: Snow Troll of the Forochel (as already suggested by others at least twice). He would face off against the Lossoth Hunter, with a snarling rage, weapon held high as if to strike--perhaps a finely carved caribou antler fashioned into a scythe. His fur and tough hide would make armor and cloaks unnecessary.

Bad Guy Idea
The Witch king of Angmar in human form before he fell. I picture him as a noble lord of Numenor in one of two poses. 1) in the moment he receives his ring, holding it aloft in joy and pride with his head up (perhaps peering at the ring). 2) on his knees, he is the last to fall beneath Sauron's will, he is broken but clutching his prized ring.
The choice, as always, would be up to Chris.

Kudos to Wendy. I wanted to suggest Sharkey myself, but since the idea was not originally mine I intended to wait until the last day. I feel its time for him to come into life in this, his last, form - the last major character incarnation from the book that is not yet covered.

hm well after studyying the Tolkien "bible" LOTR again and again, there are so many GOOD characters, which have no counterpart as miniatures.
MY "GOODIE" suggestion: :)A very important, but not so heavy mentioned character is [glow=red,2,300]HIRGON[/glow], the messenger of Denethor, carrying the red arrow and is clad in expensive, but light armour, carrying a messengers weapons, which is a good sword, a bow (for hunting food and silent death if needed so) and maybe a spear (but maybe this would hinder him to much, so am not sure about that.
He would wear a cloak (against rain and bad weather), good ridning boots and a mix of a regular officer armour/cloth and a ranger, as speed is most important. But I do not suggest him to Ranger looking , as he must have been of a more royal stock.
I am afraid, that not mounted characters are allowd, because Hirgon is a riding messenger. BUT he could be created as giving the red arrow to Theoden, King of Rohan. Hirgon is ot of pure Dunedain blood, but a tyoical Gondorian with mixed Dunedain and lesser men blood in his veins.

The BAD GUY:
I would suggest as a perfect anti-hero against Hirgon a [glow=red,2,300]CORSAIR OF UMBAR CAPTAIN[/glow]! Not such a thing as a typical Fantasy pirate, with these ugly hats of the 17th century, but. He would also be of mixed blood, Dunedain (Black Numenorean) and Haradrim as his forefathers. But as a result of the kinstrife he is a proud man, bearing weapons of old, glad in black and gold, with some Haradrim/Southron influence. I think cloaks ar not useful on ships, so I hope, Chris would make him looking proud, royal and arrogant without a cloak. A "new Numenorean weapon" (maybe a strange axe or mace) would be fine, a weapon, only the Black Numenoreans or Corsair captains would bear. I am not sure, if the Captain needs a KARMA- helmet.
If this mini would win, I would think, that Chris will do his best!

I hope, that one day there will be some kinstrife miniatures, with Castamir, Black Numenoreans, Royalists, rebels and so on.
