Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is an open month, which means you can submit ideas for single figure, mounted, or even vignettes this month. However please be aware that the more complex the suggestion, if it wins, the more expensive it will eventually be. This is logical but I realise that some collectors get so excited making a suggestion that those concerns often take a backseat. For the record: We will not do a Watcher in the Water, or Old man Willow due to size. They would be more suited for box sets, which is not really suitable for the fellowship. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. This suggestion board stops taking new ideas at 16.00 GMT on the 18th of June. Voting will begin on the 19th of June (first round) in the afternoon (GMT). Second round voting will commence on the 25th. This will last until the 2nd of July. All votes will end at 16.00 GMT or BST (british standard time). You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Inspired by a Ted Nasmith painting I'd like to propose "Rider(s) at the Ford" :
" the foremost of the black horses had almost set foot upon the shore. At that moment there came a roaring and a rushing: a noise of loud waters rolling many stones. Dimly Frodo saw the river below him rise, and down along its course there came a plumed cavalry of waves. White flames seemed to Frodo to flicker on their crests and he half fancied that he saw amid the water white riders upon white horses with frothing manes"
I envisage the witch king in the river (with the water up to the horses flanks perhaps rearing back slightly) with the wave shaped like "white riders upon white horses with frothing manes" about to crash over him.

My suggestion again is a [glow=red,2,300]Rider of Rohan mounted blowing his horn.[/glow] "And straightaway all the horns in the host were lifted up in music, and the blowing of the horns of Rohan in that hour was like a storm upon the plain and a thunder in the mountains." -Return of the King. Here is a picture of it: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Hi,
For this open month, my suggestion is a vignette with Sam as Great warrior in the front of the 2 watchers at the gate of Cirith Ungol
NOTE from admin: MAKE THE TITLE STAND OUT.

I'd still like a Lossoth warrior or scout.

I shall bring back an old chestnut:
I suggest [shadow=red,left,300]King Brand and King Dain standing back to back[/shadow] in desperate defense fighting against the servants of Sauron in the War of the Ring. (The enemy is implied, not actually part of the scene.) Maybe King Brand is defending and Dain is in full swing with his ax or using it like a club. Shields of both are well dented and cut. Maybe Brand has already lost his. King Brand falls first, then Dain defends his body. Such heroism seems like it would deserve a figure being made. If one would like expand the scene and put in some enemies against which to fight, there are plenty of orcs and such to add from regular releases. Two figures shouldn't be too pricey.
From Unfinished Tales, Gandalf speaking about the Battle of Dale, March 17, 3018:
"But Dain Ironfoot was a worthy successor. And now we hear that he fell fighting before Erebor again, even while we fought here. I should call it a heavy loss, if it is not a wonder rather than in his great age he could still wield his axe as mightily as they say he did, standing over the body of King Brand before the Gate of Erebor until darkness fell.
It might have gone very differently indeed. The main attack was diverted southwards, it is true; and yet even so with his farstretched right hand Sauron could have done terrible harm in the North, while he defended Gondor, if King Brand and King Dain had not stood in his path."

;D It was not originally my idea, but I would like to resubmit an aged (and significatly heavier) Bombur held aloft in his chair by two younger (and stout) Dwarves as a great choice for this month (with credit to the individual who first came up with this quite some time ago).

Once again (maybe one day I'll see it come true....) "the Crowning of King Elessar" : "Then Frodo came forward and took the crown from Faramir and bore it to Gandalf; and Aragorn knelt, and Gandalf set the White Crown upon his head, and said : '- Now come the days of the King, and may they be blessed while the thrones of the Valar endure! ' " I see it this way : Three figures : Frodo standing with the little cushion for the crown, Gandalf standing with the crown in his hands ready to set it on top of Aragorn's head, in regal clothes, kneeling at his feet. The base of the vignette would have just two or three steps, for Gandalf and Frodo to be on the last steps and Aragorn on the lower ones. No need to put the throne in the vignette. This way it should not be very expensive (two man sized characters and a hobbit) I hope this time it will win .... I'm waiting for your support

ARAGORN AND EOMER MEET IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE My idea for this month is a vignette of Aragorn and Eomer as they are reunited at the Pelennor. I picture the scene as described (The Battle of the Pelennor Fields) where these two weary, but unscathed warriors lean on their swords and clasp hands as they express their mutual joy at meeting once more. They would look tired but unbowed, with unkempt hair (I would have Eomer holding his helm to give himself some relief from the heat of battle), the groundwork could include a slain enemy or debris of battle and perhaps to give a bit of character to the scene one of them could have a foot resting on this. "And so at length Eomer and Aragorn met in the midst of the battle, and they leaned on their swords and looked on one another and were glad. Thus we meet again, though all the hosts of Mordor lay between us", said Aragorn. "Did I not say so at the Hornburg?"............ And they clasped hand in hand. Passage from The Battle of the Pelennor Fields.

Mae govannen members of the Mithril fellowship as I would like to see this one as a miniature (and my Elves Rumil and Orophin had not such a great chance (too many men in that forum, no elves no dwarves) , I suggest my royal one again: As loving the Dunedain and the Gondorians of Mithril I would suggest [glow=red,2,300]Earnur[/glow], the last (33th) and most ambitious of the Kings of GondorAs Chris' mounted figures are always looking great, I would suggest him (Earnur and not Chris!! ) on a horse, in Gondorian fine armour, with nice ornately edged cloak, a fine sword at his side, holding a spear and a very nice royal shield, also more elaborated. I suggest he has longer hair than normal humans, NO HELMET ( because he likes to see his enemies and does not like any hindering protection), his hair is flowing in the wind. He should not look to much like Theoden, but maybe with a rearing horse, attacking the witch King. The best thing of it: Earnur can be put in front of the so beloved Witch King of Angmar(maybe his horse is dreaded and not attacking?? ) Just a quote: I think Earnur should not look like the typical to hard plate mailed knight as the Gondorians of the 3rd age in the movies nor like the Last Alliance heroes of the Mithril range. I think he should look royal but still a little bit more wild and willing to fight. So that's it! I hope to see one day mounted Rangers of the North as Halbarad is one of my favorites. VOTE FOR THJE DUNEDAIN It is the Age of men, but of true men? as Castamir ( a hidden suggestion?? ) said. Regards Estel

Hi altogether and remember, this is the 12th release suggestion of our second year !!! gold fellowship! Should be something special... shouldn't it? My suggestion: Dead Men of Dunharrow/Dwimorberg A vignette with a ghostrider with spear and attached, ragged banner and 1 or 2 walking ghost warriors beside him. Or two different horses with riders holding spears and banners... Whould not be more complex than Beorn battles Bolg, remind that the figures are dead ! - so a undead horse should be more skin and bones than a alive mithril horse, the undead human ghosts warriors are emaciated also. I don't think they should have great cloaks, to point out the King. ->such a vignette is to go together with the King of the Dead and together with Angbor the Fearless and Elladan & Elrohir who are still to be released... ) And remember the ghostly riders are missing in the mithril range so far, the existing undead are from Dunfearen (Dunland) and the dead marshes... ...Legolas turning to speak to Gimli looked back and the Dwarf saw before his eyes the glitter in the Elf's bright eyes. Behind them rode Elladan, last of the company, but not last of those that took the downward road. 'The Dead are following,' said Legolas. 'I see shapes of Men and of horses, and pale banners like shreds of cloud, and spears like winterthickets on a misty night. The Dead are following.' 'Yes, the Dead ride behind. they have been summoned, ' said Elladan... Thus spoke Malbeth the Seer...: "Over the land there lies a long shadow, westward reaching wings of darkness. The tower trembles; to the tombs of kings for the hour is come for the oathbreakers: at the Stone of Erech they shall stand again and hear there a horn in the hills ringing. Whose shall the horn be? Who shall call them? from the grey twilight, the forgotten people? The heir of him to whom the oath they swore. From the north shall he come, need shall drive him: he shall pass the Door to the paths of the Dead. LotR - the return of the king - Book five - Chapter II: the passing of the grey company Sketches are in work and will be send to Mike... I seem to have brought the stone to roll... :-) creepy cheers - Hwolf

Since there are already at least half a dozen terrific suggestions here I see no point in submitting yet another and thereby making it even more difficult for myself when it comes to voting! My favourite thus far has to be Hwolf's 'Army of the Dead' vignette (great idea, though it may prove expensive, what with three figures, a horse, and a sizeable base); but I'm also sorely tempted by the hornblowing Rohirrim, Brand & Dain, Aragorn & Eomer (etc, etc). It really is going to be a difficult decision when it comes to it. I may have to put names in a hat and just pick one...

Hello
It's my first post here since i'm a newbie, so let's be part of this exciting group !
From what I have understood, you don't have the right to produce figures from the Simarillion...but would it be possible to produce figure evoqued by Aragorn in the LOTR and developped in the Simarillion ? If yes here is my idea:
Luthien dancing in the woods OK so this one can't be done...

well the question about Luthien and Beren has already been discussed... It is impossible for Mithril to produce those two characters. Though appearing in the LotR, they are characters "from" the Silmarillion and thus not covered by the licence.

Technically, one presumes, you could suggest
"An Eldarin Elf maiden dancing" as opposed to Luthien.
I am also d**n impressed by the suggestions this month. I'll make my suggestion post later today.

And what about the war against Witch King of Angmar? Perhaps a vignette , or just some character as Glorfindel in war gear would be something new and very attractive.
When the Witch-king fled, Eärnur attempted to follow him, but Glorfindel stopped the prince and prophesied, "Do not pursue him! He will not return to these lands. Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall."

Sauron Creating the One Ring

Post by Gildor on Jun 16, 2007 18:22:16 GMT
sauron creating the one ring would require an eternal debate... in what shape did he forge the one ring? as Anatar , elven appareance, or as Sauron the lord of Barad Dur , cloacked in shadow, or in evil armor?

"One morning long ago - Bilbo meets Gandalf"
By some curious chance one morning long ago ... Bilbo Baggins was standing at his door after breakfast, smoking an enormous long wooden pipe that reached nearly down to his woolly toes (neatly brushed) - Gandalf came by. ... He had a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, a silver scarf over which his long white beard hung down below his waist, and immense black boots"
I imagine both of them as depicted here, perhaps Gandalf being a bit more like the early sketches of Tolkien, but otherwise not unlike M52 (the best Gandalf imho).
If I may get carried away, I could also imagine some terrain, representing the entry of bagend (probably cast in Resin rather then metal). While that may be too much for a fellowship release, it would make an overwhelming 30year vignette.

now this "bilbo meets gandalf" would also be a very interesting idea for an anniversary vignette. Since "everything" began at this very moment. (the readers' passion for Tolkien early myths of the Silmarillion being possible only because of the success of the Hobbit and LoTR.... LoTR only possible because of the Hobbit, and the Hobbit only possible because Gandalf met Bilbo this morning...
