Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, and therefore will not allow for mounted figures (horse is a separate figure) or furniture (so thrones are out). This also means no dual figure suggestions. Past ideas include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth Hunter. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 18th of March (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 17th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

INGOLD AT THE RAMMAS ECHOR
I can't recall if I've suggested this chap before, but I've certainly thought of him several times. For those of you who may have overlooked him when reading the book, he's the Gondorian officer in command of the work detail repairing the outer walls of Gondor, the Rammas Echor, as Gandalf rides up to Minas Tirith from Rohan with Pippin. I've always envisaged him standing wrapped in a thick cloak for warmth and protection from the grey early morning mist, holding the cloak tight round his neck from beneath with one hand, while with the other he holds a torch up high so as to examine the riders' faces while he questions them. A nice simple figure of a guy with a 'talking part' in LOTR who has nevertheless never had a model made of him. And who knows, in some future month we might get a mounted Gandalf and Pippin combo and be able to complete a rather atmospheric vignette.
"It was twilight: the cold dawn was at hand again, and chill grey mists were about them. Shadowfax stood steaming with sweat, but he held his neck proudly and showed no sign of weariness. Many tall men heavily cloaked stood beside him, and behind them in the mist loomed a wall of stone. Partly ruinous it seemed, but already before the night was passed the sound of hurried labour could be heard: beat of hammers, clink of trowels, and the creak of wheels. Torches and flares glowed dully here and there in the fog. Gandalf was speaking to the men that barred his way".

Sounds good Barli - and it is a named character which should keep some collectors happy

Mae govannen mellon, I think it is time for something evil and something to have as a forefather of the corsairs ;D, so I would suggest: [glow=red,2,300]CASTAMIR, Ursurper of Gondor's throne[/glow]. I hope this will work as it is not a character directly from LotR ab could be accepted from TE. I also hope this will fit in well for the fellows who want some named character I am not quite sure, what this guy should look like, if more like a Black Numenorean with a Karma helmet or a less warriorlike king in a robe (to be quite different from the Corsair Admiral). Maybe Castamir should be a figure in a pose like Anarion (M274). Maybe this figure would let come to make the suggestions of one or two GF's who wanted a black Numenorean lord come true (also on my private wish list for quite a long time). What do you think fellows? (This suggestion could be a project where more GF's could be involved in developing an idea about the design ) NAMARIE estel P.S.: I like the Ingold idea very much!! (something personal)

I propose this month :
[glow=Red,5,000]Saruman, Betrayer of the White Council [/glow]
Saruman with Staff and Palantir

Post by Gildor on Mar 5, 2008 14:34:00 GMT
well, Saruman and its palantir already do exist in the regular M range M138 with a Palantir, and M175 confronting Gandalf at Orthanc with spellbook in his hands. I think that this Saruman is still available in the MC or MCD "classic" releases

WILLIAM (BILL) HUGGINS Well not to steal an idea, but we won't get the three Trolls together so how about one of them - Bill Huggins? Perhaps William the Troll stood there as described in Roast Mutton in The Hobbt, with a flagon of ale in one hand and a mutton carcase in the other, with his purse half in and half out of his pocket waiting for Bilbo to steal it. Given that Tolkien described these trolls in a slightly different way due to the books younger audience William would have some kind of clothing on, but nothing elaborate. The base could be rendered as a 'camp-fire' perhaps. One by one we may get there Bombadil

well... LR12 is Khamul and LR11 to LR19 are all Nazgul named after ther "invented" names by ICE... except for Khamul which is his true name. Indeed we do not have him still human but we have him as a nazgul with this name a quite pretty figurine actually I painted it two weeks ago

IDEA TITLE: GRISHNAKH, ORC CAPTAIN OF MORDORThis is why I think Grishnakh, Orc Captain of Mordor is a good idea for this month: Grishnakh was the leader of a band of orcs from Mordor who collaborated with the Uruk-Hai of Saruman (led by Ugluk) in the attack upon the Fellowship near Parth Galen on February 26th, 3019 Third Age. As far as orcs go, he was somewhat famous and was described by Tolkien in The Two Towers in some detail. If I remember correctly, Grishnakh had the nerve and the muscle to question Ugluk's authority. He was also inadvertently responsible for Merry's and Pippin's escape. A long overdue Grishnakh miniature would complement the M178 Ugluk nicely. Plus, you could make your own vignette using these two miniatures! Proposal: Tolkien described Grishnakh as a 'crook-legged creature, very broad and with long arms that hung almost to the ground'. How about a disgruntled, heavyset, bowlegged orc raising his left fist in defiance of Ugluk? His right hand grips a curved sword, inverted, with the tip of the blade stuck in the ground. I've submitted a drawing to the gallery page of what I think this orc might look like. www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.htmlI hope the idea is accepted. Thank you.

Hello, My first contribution to this fantastic forum I do not know if ever came the idea ..... SHARKEY IN THE SHIRE"Most of the creations of Saruman perished in the Fall of Isengard and He lost much of his life force. Weakened by this loss, aged rapidly during the last days of the Dark Lord. The first of the Mage was little more than a pale and unhealthy image of its former self. Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin return home to find that "Sharkey" (a.k.a. Saruman) has taken over and destroyed most of the Shire. The trees have been cut down and bagshot row dug up. Many of the hobbits have been taken prisoner and the Shire now run by Saruman's men. Sam says of the Shire,"I's worse than Mordor! Much worse in a way. It comes home to you, as they say; because it is home, and you remember it before it was all ruined." The hobbits revolt, and take back the Shire with minimal killing. The hobbits find Saruman in (what used to be) Bag End. Frodo does not let the hobbits kill Saruman, for he was once a might wizard and respected. Instead, he lets him go, as he has lost all power. Saruman prepares to leave, and tries to stab Frodo with a knife, though the chain mail he is wearing repels it. Even then Frodo would not let Saruman be killed. As Saruman is leaving, Frodo offers food and rest to Grima before he leaves. Saruman tells the hobbits of how Grima killed their former mayor, and something snaps in Grima. He jumps at Saruman and slits his throat. As Grima runs off, hobbit archers shoot him. A mist rises about Saruman's body, looks to the West, and disolved into nothing." Best regards P.D. Well, as a novice I am not had seen the list .... The idea, of course, is not new Sorry

I will support,GRISHNAKH, ORC CAPTAIN OF MORDOR , the suggestion of member "ungoliant" . I think the time has come to design an Orc-Single-Figure, and GRISHNAKH is a very interesting character.

Well, as I promised I will suggest only one [glow=red,5,500]Black Squirrel[/glow]from Mirkwood, without any kind of base, so it won´t become toooo big to get realized! Let´s call it Morlas, which means Black Leaf in Sindarin, prince of squirrels of Mirkwood!

I like the William (Bill) Huggins idea submitted by ddaines and estel. I've always thought it would be a good idea to release all three trolls as a set, perhaps sitting around a camp fire, with Bert holding Bilbo upside down by his toes, but one troll for now would be a good start!
I would also like to thank those members for their support of my Grishnakh suggestion! Thank you very much!

There is a family still not complete without LADY CELEBRIANI put in a suggestion again I had already some time ago and that was liked much: A character, that wasn't released so far: We have miniatures of Elrond, Elrohir & Elladan and Arwen already, but there is one missing to complete the family: Lady Celebrian! fair haired daughter of Galadriel & Celeborn, wife of Elrond and mother of the twin brothers and Lady Arwen For inspiration, check this out: www.lasgalen.net/Ebe/Celebrian.jpgThere is the story, that she travelled once from Rivendell to Lorien and she and her travelling party were attacked and captured by cruel orcs. Celebrian was rescued quickly by her brave sons, healed from a serious arrow wound by Elrond. But she got sad of middle-earth, so she went over the sea to the undying lands and left middle-earth some time ago. So how about a nice single female elven figure of Celebrian, either in Lorien or in Rivendell. Perhaps taking a walk in the gardens with some flowers in her hands... Cheers, Hwolf

Thorongil in the service of Ecthelion
In the time before LOTR, Aragorn, in disguise, served both Thengel and Ecthelion. I could envision Thorongil having little influences from everywhere he had traveled in clothes and armor (perhaps protective gear would be a better way to put it - I don't think he wore metal armor per se), which included the East.
I know this is the nth time I've suggested him. I tried to come up with some new suggestions, but they were too similar to some of the other suggestions so they will have to wait for another month or a mounted figure month.
