Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, and therefore will not allow for mounted figures (horse is a separate figure) or furniture (so thrones are out). This also means no dual figure suggestions. Past ideas include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth Hunter. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 16th of April (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 15th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Balin, Son of Fundin, Lord of Moria My suggestion for this month would be an interpretation of Balin during his brief and fateful reign as Lord of Moria. My idea is to depict him standing on a simple base perhaps with a couple of steps as if he is looking out and surveying his new Kingdom – he would have a ‘proud’ pose. Clothing – well it could be mail or cloth, and did he have a crown, I don’t know. A tragic character, but for a brief while he regained the Dwarves lost kingdom of the Dwarrodelf and is therefore perhaps an important player in the history of Middle Earth albeit gaining only a small mention in LotR.

TAR-MINASTIR, KING OF NUMENOR, ARRIVES TO MIDDLE-EARTH
Tar-Minastir was the eleventh ruler of Numenor, the King succeeding Queen Tar-Telperien. By this time, the Numenoreans had become great mariners. They explored all the seas eastward and wished for the forbidden waters of the west. They were allowed to go as far west as they could still see Numenor, but no further towards Aman. He sent a great force to the aid of the elves under Gil-galad. Although Tar-Minastir loved and aided the elves, he envied their immortality instead of seeing death as a gift of escape. The more prosperous and joyful the lives of the Numenoreans, the more they yearned for immortality. This was an early crack in the morality of the Kings and of the people they led. After Tar-Minastir, the kings also became greedy for wealth and power. He was the last king under which the Numenoreans were still kindly towards the Men of Middle-earth, being friends and teachers, setting up havens in the lands. The attitude became worse, until the time of Atanamir when the havens became fortresses for holding sway over the people and levying heavy tribute. As the desire for yet more wealth took over, the idea of death causing the loss of what they had collected became ever more depressing. Tar-Minastir was succeeded by Tar-Ciryatan.
Reference: Return of the King App. A
Tar-Minastir will represent with haughty attitude, as numenorean high lineage that he is, with the royal war clothes and holding a scroll deployed as if it were giving orders to soldiers who landed in Middle-earth and directed towards war against Sauron

Congrats to the successful troll and thanks to all supporters of the elven lady last month, two votes less enough...
Now let's see how long the other both trolls take to be suggested and to win, start to put money aside, folks And again, I don't loose hope because there is a numerous part of collector fellows who also want to see Elronds wife released: LADY CELEBRIAN WITH SQUIRRELNow the suggestion is Celebrian with flowers in her golden hair, sitting comfortably on a grassy surface dotted with flowers, stroking or feeding a cute little Rivendell squirrel on her knee... I will send a sketch for the gallery to Mike Celebrian is a character, that wasn't released so far: We have miniatures of Elrond, Elrohir & Elladan and Arwen already, but there is one missing to complete the family: Lady Celebrian - fair haired daughter of Galadriel & Celeborn of Lothlorien wife of Elrond and mother of the twin brothers and Lady Arwen There is the story, that she travelled once from Rivendell to Lorien and she and her travelling party were attacked and captured by cruel orcs. Celebrian was rescued quickly by her brave sons, healed from a serious arrow wound by Elrond. But she got sad of middle-earth, so she went over the sea to the undying lands and left middle-earth some time ago. Cheers and happy suggesting, Hwolf

What's with all the squirrels recently...? On a more serious subject, I'm suggesting
INGOLD AT THE RAMMAS ECHOR
again. He collected very few votes last month, but previous experience has shown that perseverance pays! As a reminder, he's the Gondorian officer who commanded the work detail repairing the outer walls of Gondor, the Rammas Echor, as Gandalf rides up to Minas Tirith from Rohan with Pippin. I've always envisaged him standing wrapped in a thick cloak for warmth and protection from the early morning mist, holding a torch aloft so as to examine the riders' faces while he questions them. A nice simple figure of a guy with a 'talking part' in LOTR who has never had a model made of him. And with luck (and further perseverance) in some future month we might get a mounted Gandalf and Pippin combo and be able to complete a rather atmospheric vignette.
"It was twilight: the cold dawn was at hand again, and chill grey mists were about them. Shadowfax stood steaming with sweat, but he held his neck proudly and showed no sign of weariness. Many tall men heavily cloaked stood beside him, and behind them in the mist loomed a wall of stone. Partly ruinous it seemed, but already before the night was passed the sound of hurried labour could be heard: beat of hammers, clink of trowels, and the creak of wheels. Torches and flares glowed dully here and there in the fog. Gandalf was speaking to the men that barred his way".

Don't you like Squirrels, Barli? They are funny and cute and have nice furs, perhaps they make a good stew on the menu at your Inn? hmmmm !!!

Hahahaa! Uaaah! Haaaaha! Very good, Harald and Dieter! And: I feel with you, Barli! I love squirrels! Really! But it`s original suggestion was only a bad or better: "sad" joke because of my new disappointment. Again! But: why not an elf lady with a cute, funny, lovely little animal? It mustn`t be black anymore! On the other hand I would like to see - as I said before - more namely known persons, heroes or monsters that have never been released before. Like Celebrian or Ingold! Go on, Barli! I would like to call you friend! Our tastes may be different, sometimes! But isn`t that the essence of life? It´s variety? It´s colour? It´s smell? It`s ... whatever? I only do not like all those repeatings!

Ohh! I´ve forgotten my suggestion! I would like to see [glow=orange,4,500]Arathorn[/glow] , father of Aragorn, husband to Gilraen. Not only to complete that part of the family "Elrond/ Elros"! He should look weary but strong and proud! A king without land. A chieftain of the Rangers of the Norh! Gilraen was foreseeing the fate of his house and heir, he couldn´t. He was kind of desparate! A troll-hunter, searching his own death and looking for some honour, only with poor hope for his kind. This is what I have in mind. No picture. No further description.

If you don't like repeatings, Master Bombadil, I'd suggest you cut back on the number of squirrels you eat... ;D
I like the squirrel picture, by the way, Harald!

Well not to quarrel (not squirrel!), but isn't there anybody out there suggesting one of the remaining trolls? William will be cast but what about his fellows? You could suggest a troll with a squirrel at his feet or at his neck ;D . Hmm I like this idea, but I am thinking about suggesting something else. NAMARIE estel

I thinkk to suggest William's brothers is David's job ... with or without a suirrel ... Well Master Ent, I was thinking perhaps I would be pushing my luck to suggest another troll so soon, but also as the seeds have been sown for the The Three Trolls perhaps someone else would like to share the honours and submit Bert or Tom (with or without a squirrel). I wonder if this squirrel is going to be another persistent character - I reckon it will appear with some future figure - I imagine a sense of humour from a certain sculptor may make it so one day

All squirrels are persistent characters, Dave - I evicted a family of them from my loft about five years ago and they've been determinedly trying to get back in ever since. You wouldn't believe the amount of damage those teeth can do! I'm seriously considering putting them on the bar menu at the Pony - if some of our transatlantic members can suggest a good recipe.

Well, David, it's not about 'pushing luck' ... I just thought that you should continue suggesting those trollish brothers. Not necessarily one after the other, as there's no haste. But once one of the three will become an MS-figure there's no sense in considering the other two to be part of a regular M-release or even a boxed set. So, I think the first step has been taken to have those three. As until now I never suggested any figure at this board I will keep to my 'tradition' and won't suggest neither Bert nor Tom.

Well I hope nobody will be mad at me for doing it then but I will submit... BERT THE TROLL BUT if it wins, I'd like the idea to be attributed to David Daines ... it's just a matter of principles.... I do not suggest the idea myself, I just let it show up on the voting list... The more it appears in a voting list, the more chances it will have, by the end to be sculpted...

Or should that be (Roland) Bombadil as I think it was he that originally put forward the Three Trolls, but go for it Gildor, 1 down, 2 to go

Yes buddies, go on suggesting the trolls: Euro 29,95 each - 60 Euros alltogether - best in a row... Balin of Moria - Tar-Minastir - Lady Celebrian - Arathorn - Bert the Troll so far: Is this the point when no more new single figure suggestions are coming in? we only discuss squirrels and trolls here? (me included of course...) - just a tought, anybody is free to suggest what he/she wants...

I would really like to see Eomer on foot. I know one was made with Aragorn, but we really need one by himself. I need him for Helm's Deep! So I suggest:
[glow=red,2,300]Eomer on foot![/glow]
He of course would need his sword out and a shield! ;D

IDEA TITLE: MAUHUR, URUK-HAI OF ISENGARDThis is why I think "Mauhur, Uruk-Hai of Isengard" would be a good idea for this month: Mauhur was the leader of an orc patrol out of Isengard. In February, 3019, Third age, Mauhur lead his orcs to an area near Fangorn Forest, where Ugluk's orc-band was encircled by Rohirrim. His objective was to drive a wedge through the Rohirrim, allowing Ugluk and his orcs a means of escape. Unfortunately for the trapped orcs, Mauhur's plan failed (much like my Grishnakh suggestion last month) and Mauhur's orcs were all driven off or slain like the others. Mauhur was of Uruk-Hai stock. As far as orcs went, he was taller, stronger, possessed greater endurance, and had an altogether higher level of intelligence. Mauhur also exercised a respectable degree of esprit de corp among his own troops. He was a formidable opponent and fought bravely to the end. Mauhur would make a fine addition to the Mithril line of orc miniatures. Proposal: I sketched my vision of Mauhur and submitted it to the gallery page. I made some changes since then, but the basic idea remains the same. He's built like a fireplug, very wide across the shoulders, with thick, powerful arms. When running, he often uses his great arms to propel his body forward, much like an ape. Mauhur wields a large two-handed mace, which he uses to fell the horses of his enemies and smash Rohan skulls!

Another great idea is "MAUHUR, URUK-HAI OF ISENGARD" of member UNGOLIANT. I like orcish characters and this idea will get my vote. Yes, there are to few Orcs in the Mithril ranges, but I still hope and would like to see a complete set of Orcish heroes as an M-series, where you can get all of those brutish Orc characters like Grisnakh, Ugluk, Mauhur, Lagduf, Shagrat, Gorbag and some others I have forgotten here. What about that idea? NAMARIE estel

I also like Ungoliant's idea "Mauhur, Urak Hai of Isengard" for several reasons First - there have been few Urak hai produced. Second - there have been few (in my opinion) isengard troops produced. Third - The gold fellowship has not chosen orcs to be produced that are not part of a diarama. Fourth - I just love to collect orcs, I will go to great lengths to get orcs, I am flying to Salute next week just to get the goblin wolf rider that is very similar to what I have been asking to be produced for several years. Hope to see some of you at the show and I hope the trip does not interfere with my ability to cast a vote for Mauhur.

So many great suggestions this month from which to choose. However, I will make a suggestion, even if it is just for suggestion's sake.
Eldarion, son of Aragorn and Arwen
"For if I will not go now, then I must soon go perforce. And Eldarion our son is a man full-ripe for kingship."...There he said farewell to Eldarion, and gave into his hands the winged crown of Gondor and the sceptre of Arnor; and then all left him save Arwen... (LOTR Appendix A)

The Salute Goblin Chieftain on Enormous Wolf is an impressive piece. I see it as Bolg riding towards the Battle of Five Armies. I definitely want one for my collection! Pleasant journey to Shadyt. I understand your passion as a collector. I often fly to Japan to search for rare vintage toys. Even if I don't always find what I'm looking for, the trip itself is a great adventure! Good luck and have a wonderful time!
