Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, NO Mounted options will apply. Examples of past single figures include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth hunter. Due to the increased workload on Chris, he has asked that we accept only single figure suggestions for the rest of the year. I know it will disappoint some members but what is the point in winning the vote if the figures never get made and Chris is trying to work on general releases as well. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 14th of November (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 13th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Referring to Michael O'Brian's idea, mentioned in the recent newsletter about the three Trolls, I would like to suggest:
Bilbo (additionally to the three trolls)
I imagine this Bilbo-figure fitting in its pose to the three trolls just to make all four figures a nice vignette-like assembly. I'm sure Chris Tubb would find a very nice pose.

I suggest:
A Ringwraith on Weathertop in True Form ( like the Witch King)
I think it would be nice add-on to the great "Witch King".

I'll give poor old Bombur a rest for a while, I think, since he received absolutely no support last month! Instead, I shall revert to one of my suggestions from a few months back:
ORC RUNNING WITH A TORCH
This is a generic figure that gamers and modellers alike could use to represent either one of Sauron's orcs crossing the Pelennor Fields or one of Saruman's attacking Helm's Dike.

I also gave that 12th King of Gondor a rest. That's why I took up the idea of Bilbo with the trolls ... though last night I had a better idea ... that's for December then ....

Bard and the old thrush
"Suddenly out of the dark something fluttered to his shoulder. He (Bard) started - but it was only an old thrush. Unafraid it perched by his ear and it brought him news. Marvelling he found he could understand its tongue, for he was of the race of Dale."
I imagine Bard to be holding a long bow (bigger than the M series Bard anyway) looking at the thrush on his shoulder with an astonished look on his face. (By "looking at" I mean his head is turned towards the thrush, but not looking directly at it - the eyes are looking at the thrush though, which is more in the painting than the sculpting.) Quiver should be empty and Black Arrow in hand.
It's a rather pivotal point in The Hobbit, and I think would make a nice fig deserving of the extra bit of attention to detail that fellowships minis tend to receive.
(Yes, maybe third time's the charm. ;D)

I think I'll re-submit a previous idea but slightly adapted to fit in with a single figure month, and that is VORONDIL AND THE KINE OF ARRAW But this time instead of the whole body of the dead kine, I see a triumphant hunter, possibly looking weatherbeaten and 'wild' eyed (having hunted the beast over many leagues through wild countryside without much sleep) holding aloft the horn in one hand and his sword/dagger which he has used to cut the horn from the kine's head in the other. I would like to suggest that as part of the base the kine's severed head , minus one horn links the figure of Vorondil to the horn. This figure would tie nicely in with the historical aspect of LotR and is also a named character.

And again, I don't loose hope because I know there is a numerous part of collector fellows who also want to see Elronds wife released:
LADY CELEBRIAN
Celebrian, wife of Elrond Half-elven with flowers in her golden hair dressed in noble elven garments.
Celebrian is a character, that wasn't released so far: We have miniatures of Elrond, Elrohir & Elladan and Arwen already, but there is one still missing to complete the family:
Lady Celebrian - fair haired daughter of Galadriel & Celeborn of Lothlorien wife of Elrond and mother of the twin brothers and Lady Arwen
There is the story, that she travelled once from Rivendell to Lorien and she and her travelling party were attacked and captured by cruel orcs. Celebrian was rescued quickly by her brave sons, healed from a serious arrow wound by Elrond. But she got sad of middle-earth, so she went over the sea to the undying lands and left middle-earth some time ago.
Think of a female figure in our fellowship range next to the female assassin of Dol Amroth Cheers Hwolf

I will not be making a suggestion this month. So far I like the Orc Torchbearer the best but there is still time for many other good suggestions.

Mae govannen mellon,
I will do it again ;D : As there are no mounted figures allowed and kings seem to have no such great chances I would like to 'resubmit' an idea of old:
[glow=red,2,300]Hirgon, riding errant of Gondor [/glow](kneeling befor Theoden, king of Rohan).
As a part of all those new Gondor- releases I think this figure would be nice to complement this “series”. Hirgon (well no mounts allowed) should be kneeling before Theoden (you could built a diorama with the old M27 ;-)), holding the red arrow in his hand. Hirgon should have a cloak, very light, but nicely decorated armour, maybe more leather as he has to be fast and not a fighting heavy cavalry knight, some royal look as he is important and not a commoner in Gondor, a nice sword at his side, some daggers in his belt and at his back.

I would like to re-enter my earlier suggestion of: Aragorn in a fighting pose at Amon Hen with his Ranger sword raised overhead in his right hand and his Elven fighting knife poised to strike in his left.

This month I recommend:
DAERON, The Grey Elf Lore-Master.
He is mentioned in the Fellowship of the Ring, at the end of the Journey In The Dark chapter as having devised the runes in which Balin's epitaph was written in Moria.
"These are Daeron's Runes, such as were used of old in Moria," said Gandalf. "Here is written in the tongues of Men and Dwarves: BALIN SON OF FUNDIN LORD OF MORIA."
Indeed, Daeron is credited with devising "the oldest form of common writing originated in Middle-earth," as stated by J.E.A. Tyler in 'The Tolkien Companion.'
It is important is that Daeron was a Silvan Elf minstrel and lore-master to King Thingol and is specifically mentioned as being the original inventor of the most common written alphabet in the trilogy and related books.
I envision Daeron with long, flowing hair; dressed in scholars robes, and standing erect. With one hand he would hold a journal out in front of him in a casual manner with elbow bent. His gaze would be directed at his writings. The other hand would hold a writing implement. It could be as touching the journal or held free, whatever was easiest for Chris to sculpt.
My respect to any who have mentioned him before, perhaps he will win this time.
For all those who want an Elf, and any others who find him worthy, vote DAERON THE LOREMASTER!

DURIN VI, KING OF KHAZAD-DÛM, FIGHTING THE BALROGHe can be represented in the knees, mortally wounded and with the arms of Durin´s House at his feet. The Balrog wins ...... for now.....
