Welcome back to the Fellowship February 2009 1st Round Vote. Just select your favourite idea and vote. One vote per member.
This is a blind vote so you will only see the current status of the vote AFTER you submit your vote so vote honestly. Remember you do not have to support your original idea if you prefer another. Be honest.
Some ideas have been suggested other months but I always like to see fresh ideas and this month has some stunning ones.
The top 3 or 4 suggestions will be put into the 2nd round on the 24th of February. This vote ends at 16.00 GMT on the 23rd (british time).

Well, I had to vote for Fatty Bombur again (loyalty to a cause and all that), but there are several other tempting suggestions, most notably Aragorn summoning the oathbreakers, Eowyn, and Dave's desire for a more "Tolkien-accurate" version of Ghan-buri-Ghan. Some other ideas appeal to me less, and one suggestion is downright startling - considering how often we're told that no Silmarilion figures are allowed, what in Ea's name is Thuringwethil the vampire doing in the list?? She's from The Silmarillion, guys!

Ted Sandyman is a character named in the books many times. He is the antithesis of Samwise. He has never been made by Chris. There are many other ideas mentioned that haven't been made yet. Lets vote for something new.

Lets vote for something new. sandyman is still a great idea . I always love the named characters, even if I have not suggested one myself (Silmarillon characters are not allowed, so I tried anything else ;D)

I had to vote for Thuringwethil the vampire in human form. I have wanted such a figure for years; it would have been important in several RPGs I have run and might be important in ones I run in the future.

Sorry my friends. I wasn't thinking when I suggested Thuringwethil again. I have to apologise to Master carlbrodt for wasting his vote. It won't happen again.
By the way, Michael is there a possibilty to give Master Carlbrodt another vote?

Where does Thuringwethil appear in the Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit? I always thought she appears in another story of J. R. R. ....
But a nice suggestion anyway - don't want to be the kill-joy

By the way, Michael is there a possibilty to give Master Carlbrodt another vote? I cannot give any member another vote, sorry. Chris stated that he accepts Thuringwethil as a valid candidate, so the vote is not wasted. However T.E. will make the final call on whether we can make it.

Michael, is this because there is a specific list of characters TE does not allow, along with the right to block anything not on the list? Or merely because Thuringwethil is so obscure Chris thinks TE might not care?

Hmm... It seems, there is always a exeption to the rule... These are the things making life more interesting. I guess I have to suggest her again. All good things come in three.

Michael, is this because there is a specific list of characters TE does not allow, along with the right to block anything not on the list? Or merely because Thuringwethil is so obscure Chris thinks TE might not care? 'Thuringwethil' is a MERP character I believe Chris stated and thus is allowed as T.E. own those rights. There is a list somewhere but I have not seen it in years. It deals with names, places, etc.

Sorry, but Thuringwethil is not MERP but comes from the Silmarillion (and is mentioned in Lays of Beleriand). To cite: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thuringwethil"Thuringwethil was a vampire messenger of Sauron, probably a Maia, who took the shape of a bat-like creature. Her wings were barbed with an iron claw at each joint." It seems she is not making it into the second stage, and - if what I know of the Mithril-restrictions still holds - should be avoided next time. If we really need a human form of a Vampire we could go for Carangil, which is, afaik, a Merp character from Dagorland (I fail to find my copy of it right now, so I cannot confirm that).

I could not remember any vampire like creatures from the Silmarillion until I read Axel's post. Then I looked her up in the Index of the Silmarilllion: Thuringwethil "Woman of Secret Shadow", the messenger of Sauron from Tol-in Gaurhoth who took the form of a great bat, and in whose Shape Luthien entered Angband. page 178-179 (Ist Edition Hardcover) Might she also be a MERP charicter?

She was listed in the MERP modules "Creatues of Middle Earth", and (being the only reference Tolkien ever made to something resembling vampires) was expanded there. She is, however, a canon creature.

apart from strange females, there seems to be no great interest in true Tolkien females, like Eowyn, but many more times in additional merp-like females.... Not my suggestion, but isn't she a named character? where are all those who promised to support named ones? Come on and vote! There are a female, a miller and some others never realized by Chris. So come on and go for a vote!!
