Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, NO Mounted options will apply. Examples of past single figures include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth hunter. Due to the increased workload on Chris, he has asked that we accept only single figure suggestions until he has caught up with releases. I know it will disappoint some members but what is the point in winning the vote if the figures never get made and Chris is trying to work on general releases as well. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 17th of April (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 16th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Let's have a go again
Tarannon Falastur
I think it's time for a king: The 12th King of Gondor and first of the 'Ship-kings'. Imho this could be a wonderful figure to complement the "Berúthiel-vignette". let me quote please:... and that King Tarannon had her sent set on a ship alone with her cats and set adrift in the sea before a north wind. The ship was last seen flying past Umbar under a sickle moon with a cat at the masthead and another as a figure-head on the prow. (The Lord of the Rings, Appendix A,I,ii and iv)Now let me explain, please. So far we have a lot of Gondorian figures. But still there's no king.So why not give [tar'annon] a chance? The first "ship-king" of Gondor. Imagine him standing aboard one of his vessels ... contemplating the seas at Umbar or elsewhere. The figure might even fit well into those of collectors and diorama-builders who still are busy with painting all those Corsairs .... You might also mind the link between a GF-vignette and the GF-captain, even the GF-Cirdan could be linked here, as well as the regular Cor-sair releases. Let's have a new start with a Gondorian fleet.

That seems to be a very nice suggestion, Master Theobald. Good idea.

Thank you, rita.de, but it's not the first time I suggest this figure. As I do really like the "Berúthiel-vignette" very much (those with them cats, you know) I would like to see her husband as a sea-captain of Gondor. This is because to match the power of the "Corsair releases" somehow. As far as I know there are some among us who try to build ships to provide some Corsairs with vessels. So where is Gondor?

GRIMBEORNGrimbeorn the Old was Beorn's son. Like his father, he could turn into the shape of a bear, and he lived in the same regions as his father had in the Vales of Anduin. He took over as chieftan of the Beornings after his father's death. As chieftain, he kept the High Pass and the Ford of Carrock free from orcs and wolves, though Gloin commented to Frodo that his "tolls are high" and he was "not over fond of dwarves." He has the axe above his head horizontally and caught by both hands up in sign of victory Regards.

A very nice idea, Erchamion. As for the rather northern pronunciation shouldn't it read Grimm-bärn? Grim-björn? As 'grim' doesn't have to be translated the second syllable is quite ambiguous. Beorn. This could be regarded as a family name. Though "björn" means son or child. So your suggestion is about the "grim son of Beorn", I think. Good idea ... Oh, by the by, are there any references you might be able to quote?

Oh, by the by, are there any references you might be able to quote? Of course , The Fellowship of the Ring: "Many Meetings," p. 241 where he directly appointed Grimbeorn. There is also an indirect reference in The Hobbit: "The Return Journey," p. 307 when Tolkien speaks of "sons" of Beorn By the way, excellent etymological analysis, Master Theobald. You might like to know that some consider him more as a ´spectral bear` www.glyphweb.com/arda/g/grimbeorn.html

The Madness of Denethor
To my knowledge, there has only been one figure of Denethor made in all the series (Minias Tirith series; M195). Barring a aelfwine's excellent suggestion of the Heroes of Gondor set, I would like to offer up the recommendation of Denethor in his most dramatic form, when he confronts Gandalf in the Tombs of Minas Tirith with the source of his "wisdom"...
[The Pyre of Denethor] "He stood up tall and proud again...and lo! he had between his hands a palantir...so that the lean face of the Lord was lit as with a red fire, and it seemed cut out of hard stone, sharp with black shadows, noble, proud, and terrible."
As noted in the text, he would be wearing a shirt of mail and a long sword with a great hilt at his belt (see The Siege of Gondor) under his robes of state, as well as a knife (which he later brandishes in the Tombs). The sword scabard would be empty (Gandalf had already thrust the sword from his grasp). I see him holding the palantir with both hands, arms thrust out, the red light from the orb illuminating his hard, cruel face.

I feel reluctant to suggest anything when I see three fantastic suggestions, all of which I would love to have; Tarannon, Grimbeorn, and The Madness of Denethor would all make great releases. But to support the process I will suggest a Warrior of Lake Town, a simple man at arms with either a sword, spear or axe maybe, awaiting the rush of the goblin army under the shadow of Erebor. Who knows, he could be the forerunner of a yet to be produced M Range

I will go along with the Warrior of Lake Town. This would be a great figure to see.

I'll try it again:
Female assassin of Dol Amroth
This miniature has been suggested and described several times, I think no further explanation is necessary.
Best regards Stift

Lets get back to the simple things...
I suggest a hobbit.
A male elder hobbit, holding a chicken leg in one hand, a mug of beer in the other, and being in deep contemplation on the major problems of life: where to start.
The hobbit can be used to flesh out a scene of the Prancing Pony, of Bilbos Farewell party, or of any other occasion where Hobbits tend to eat and drink - so covering all of hobbitdom. Naturally they would usually sit, so Chris can decide to pack him upon one of the existing stools, or make him standing. No need to create new furniture.

I've been racking my brains for something with "legs" something that would excite the community. So, failing that, I've gone with my old standby
Sindarin Elf BardEither an adventurer figure, a companion to one of the Gildor Inglorion figure, or a background character in a Rivendell diorama. Something inspired by this image: But perhaps he should be wearing a weathered cloak for travelling and carry a sword at his hip. Eriador is a dangerous place. Perhaps his pose is inspired by the "Fellowship of the Ring" boxed set Boromir figure. The elf is looking away into the distance, his hand resting close to his sword belt. Maybe he's at ease. Maybe he's ready to draw his sword and fight. Gavin

Standard Bearer of Angmar This half troll is heavily armored and his harness is hung with many cruel weapons and trophies.

I'm not suggesting anything this month yet. I'd like better to support the 'Female assassin of Dol Amroth' proposal.

had we any figure of [glow=red,2,300]HALDIR, GUARDIAN OF LORIEN[/glow]? then this is my suggestion for this month. I think we need an elf as a GF figure beside all those Trolls, men and kings and so on. Haldir should be an elf with a cloak, sword and a bow, but please not a shooting pose, more a guardian look (I think C.T. is knowing what I mean). Is there nobody suggesting Sam with his campfire (and some stewed rabbits) this time

This month i don't have an own suggestion, because of many other good suggestion like "Laketown Warrior" , "Haldir, Gueardian of Lorian" or "Grimbeorn". One of these i would support.

I'll suggest Samwise cooking over a small campfire again.
(No, not Samwise himself cooking over a fire.) Perhaps a brace of coneys in a stew. ;D
For the dioramist, it's simple enough to find a gollum to lurk around and Frodo can be converted easily by sculpting blankets around him.
