Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a mounted figure month, single figures also will be accepted. Chris has aasked for no furniture as he is doing enough with the MX series to satisfy him The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 17th of July (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 16th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Good! A mounted figure month .... DWARF PEDDLER WITH PONY A dwarf down to trade from the West Gate of Moria to Ost-in-Edhil with the pony saddlebags full of weapons and armor. It can also take some excellent ore ingots of Moria. Represented at a time when trade relations between the dwarves and elves were excellent, he could be the precursor of an excellent new serie-m about the Blacksmiths of Eregion.

That's a very good idea, though Michael O'Brian let us know that Chris Tubb is busy with some furniture. Those saddlebags filled with many things cannot be regarded or mistaken as furniture, I think. The idea of the blacksmiths of Eregion as an m-serie is simply fascinating ... Just to cut it short, there'll be no suggestion from me this time. It's not a protest nor a boycott, I simply like this Dwarf peddler idea very much.

I will suggest my very first mounted figure again:[glow=red,2,300]Mounted Rohan Rider blowing horn![/glow]The rider is on his horse galloping, holding his sword forward and blowing his horn forward too.

ANGBOR OF LAMEDON
It's been so long since we last had a mounted figure that all the ideas I had for them in the past have quite faded from my memory, and Angbor is the only such figure suggestion that's still in my noggin. But I'm sure the idea wasn't originally mine - I think it was Wendy's, and if that was so I hope she'll forgive me for, er, 'borrowing it'. It's just that Angbor is a figure we've never seen in the Mithril range yet, and one that deserves to be there.
He needs to be in 'provincial' style armour, but Chris will know best how to visualise him in keeping with the Gondorian army types portrayed in the old Tengwar mnagazines.

d**n, a 'mounted month' and I was thinking of something different suggesting this time- we have no Imrahil not mounted on horse and no Eomer on foot as single figures. So I am not sure at the moment, which mounted figure I should suggest. Maybe I would support Angbor, as I like the Gondorian heroes idea very much!!

I'll forgive you Barley. ;D
Well, I would have suggested Bilbo riding on Bombur's back from The Hobbit, but since Bombur just won, that won't fly. So I'll keep thinking...or just support Angbor...

Radagast Mounted
Radagast the Brown wizard mounted on Horseback, searching for Gandalf in the shire/Eriador...
how whould it be to see a nature-loving wizard's fashion of riding a horse? like the elves I bet....
From Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring, Council of Elrond Gandalf's story about his travels and capture at Orthanc Tower
It was decided that Frodo would leave the Shire after his birthday on September 22 and head for Rivendell with Samwise Gamgee. On May 1, Gandalf met Aragorn at Sarn Ford and informed him of this plan. At the end of June he made another reconnaissance trip to the southern border, intending to return in a few days. But he heard rumors of war and of the Black Shadow, so he went northeast along the Greenway towards Bree, where he encountered a fellow Wizard, Radagast the Brown.
Radagast told Gandalf that Saruman had sent him with the news that the Nine Nazgul were seeking the Shire. Gandalf decided to go see Saruman at once. He told Radagast to alert the birds and the beasts to gather news of the Nazgul and bring it to Isengard. Gandalf then spent the night in at the Prancing Pony and gave the innkeeper Barliman Butterbur a message to be delivered to Frodo urging him to leave the Shire at once. Unbeknownst to Gandalf, the message was forgotten and never delivered.
When Gandalf arrived at Isengard, he discovered that Saruman had become corrupted by the desire for power. Saruman suggested to Gandalf that they join forces with Sauron or take the One Ring for themselves. When Gandalf refused, Saruman imprisoned him on the pinnacle of Orthanc. From there Gandalf could see that Saruman had destroyed the gardens of Isengard and replaced them with machinery and an army of Orcs and Wargs.
Wizards are rare or missing in GF range

WOLF-RIDER STANDARD Didn't someone want a mounted wolf-rider? As with Barli, memory of some ideas has faded so how about a wolf-rider with standard. I envisage a pennant type standard streaming in the wind as opposed to what we normally get, to keep in line with the mobility aspect and what the wolf can carry on its back. Perhaps the goblin/orc can be holding the pennant aloft and slightly looking back to encourage his fellow riders to speed up, or even be holding the pennant close to himself and sitting in a fairly upright position. The wolf would be running at a fast pace and its pose would reflect this. I would love to see the orc with a helm of some kind. I suppose I could push my luck and ask for a spare arm to give the option of an alternative weapon

OK, let´s try a suggestion as well. I am a big fan of these Easterlings in general. So I would like to suggest a :
[glow=red,2,300]M O U N T E D E A S T E R L I N G A R C H E R[/glow]
I imaging somekind of a hun-looking rider, dressed in quilting leather suite on a running/chasing horse with a firing bow - as these people use to do . . . By the way: nice suggestion already been here . . .

My idea, barring JD Brown's already brilliant idea is:
SHIELD MAIDEN OF THE HORSELORDS
(mounted, obviously)
This is a character from the depths of memory, out of the ancient North. Perhaps she rode with Fram, or accompanied Eorl on his great ride.
The shield maiden is mailed, cloaked, beautiful, spear held at attention, riding into a golden sunrise, wind blowing her hair. She carries an ornate shield; there's a longsword at her side.
She is young and fair, a lady of the northmen. Perhaps she is a vision of Eowyn, riding into imagined battle.

I know it may be an exotic "mount"... but since it is mounted month...
[glow=red,2,300]Gandalf, mounted on Gwaihir [/glow]
-flying to save Frodo at Mount Doom at the end of the LOTR. -or escaping Orthanc -or escaping the gobelins to the Eagles' Eyrie in The Hobbit
(three scenes in which this figurine could be used for!)
I know... this is ANOTHER Gandalf... and we have PLENTY of Gandalf.... but mounting an eagle... now that's and exclusivity... and that could very well be a masterpiece if sculpted by Chris Tubb

It's getting better and better. Even if this would be the xth version of a Gandalf, this idea is great. So this time it will be hard to decide, as there is also an Easterling archer and some other attractive sugestions.

So many of these are excellent ideas, I could support most of them.
But I do believe in making suggestions for us, so I have thought hard. I recommend a:
[glow=red,2,300]HOBBIT SHIRRIFF ON PONY[/glow]
This Hobbit would be one of the twelve Bounders of the Shire in normal times, with a special feather in his cap to designate the Farthing he hailed from. The pony would be equiped with packs and a saddle set for long rounds and the occassional night outside. The hobbit would be garbed in traveling cloak and gear, his only weapon a small club.
I know that the Shirriffs are typically mentioned on foot, but I imagine there would be a pony available for long journies, or to deliver urgent messages.

Hmmm. Rohan rider blowing horn... Hobbit Shirrif on pony... Both good suggestions, and they make "Merry blowing the Horn of Rohan" a bit redundant. I withdraw him and put another suggestion forward which has popped up from time to time, but has not yet been realized: Sam carrying Frodo on the slopes of Mount DoomIf you need some inspiration, take that one: :-) www.epinions.com/content_4648575108If somebody still wants Merry, feel free to push him onwards, though.

Axel, there is such a figure in the LO-releases. I know, you are thinking of a smaller version

Indeed, though I forgot about that one.
54mm is simply not my scale. I tried it, but cannot connect emotionally to that size. I kept the Christmas miniatures, but skipped the LO range.

Axel, I thought Merry blowing the horn was a strong suggestion! Although your replacement suggestion would be nice in 32mm.
I hope someone picks this suggestion, Merry blowing the horn of Rohan, to sponsor.

Well, it was already in the ring some 7 times (I recently updated the suggestion list). Sooner or later it will become reality (later, as it looks, given the frequency of "mounted" suggestions).
Currently I have a small vignette in mind where I could use Sam carrying Frodo - even it if takes a year to become reality. Tolkien fans are nothing if not patient.

o.k., it took some time to think over, especially when there are som many good suggestions this time, which reminded me on the first suggestions I got to know 2003 or 2004. As I love named ones here is my suggestion: [glow=red,2,300]Faramir, captain of the Ithilien Rangers/or white tower on horse[/glow]He should be made on galloping horse, fleeing from the hunting Nazgul. He should have a nice cloak, blowing in the wind, maybe with a risen sword arm, commanding the escape of his fellows. Chris could decide, if Faramir is in Ranger garb, coming directly from the defence of Osgiliath and Ithilien or if this figure represents Faramir in retreat from the Rammas. I love both scenes, especially when Faramir is going to meet his father Denethor. A tale full of tragedy. The figure could be made, as collectors can decide, if they want to stick an arrow, as Faramir is heavily wounded by a black one. Pro's for this figure: (a) it is a named character (b) we have rarely Faramir figures (especially as single figures!) (c) we have NO mounted rangers (nor done by Mithril nor by any other company) (d) maybe Chris will be inspired doing some Rangers of Ithilien on horses (e) this figure may help inspiring doing the forces of Gondor's provinces (f) GONDOR needs support!! (g) we have too many Witch kings (no one suggesting a mounted witch king this time???) (h) maybe we will have one day a Boromir in funeral boat and a burning Denethor figure to complete the Faramir-Boromir-Denethor scenes

Faramir is a good one, especially since his 377-incarnation as Ranger seems to have vanished from the Mithril-shop and the 200 is imho a bit on the "too heroic" side.
If his mounted incarnation does not carry the vote, I would love to get a version of him in armour without the blowing cape and liberty statue-pose, perhaps as he stands on a tower or parapet looking towards the advancing enemy hordes. So keep it in mind for the non-mounted month, too :-)
