Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Due to Staff holidays during Christmas we combine December and January months together. 2 ideas and 2 votes. Post your suggestions here. Remember TWO per member. These are single figure months, NO Mounted options will apply. Examples of past single figures include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth hunter. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 6th of January (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 5th of January. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Troll Champion of the North Serving as a commader under the Witchking, this troll helped destroy Cardolan. Wearing a chain shirt hung with heavy metal scales and a helm this troll is inspired by the cover art from MERP module "Rangers of the North" the picture can also be seen on the meccg "Rogrog"

Suggestion #1
Title: Bullroarer
History: Bandobras Took was one of the tallest Hobbits in Shire-history. Standing four feet and five inches tall, this rather large Hobbit was able to ride a horse and was given the nickname “Bullroarer”, after he and other Hobbits engaged and defeated a horde of Orcs lead by Golfimbul of Mount Gram. The engagement, known as the Battle of Greenfields, took place in 2747 Third Age. Bullroarer delivered a terrific blow to the charging enemy, resulting in Golfimbul's head leaving his body and bouncing along the grassy landscape. With their jaws dropping, the remaining Orcs fled in dismay.
Image: Bullroarer is taller than most Hobbits but not necessarily heavyset or thick-limbed. Instead, I imagine him as tall and lanky (for a Hobbit), wearing some light armor and carrying a bat-like club. In fact, I see him standing much like a baseball player at bat. Perhaps he is even tapping the side of his shoe with his club, as he awaits the charging Goblin.

Suggestion #2
Title: Golfimbul
History: Golfimbul was the leader of the Goblins of Mount Gram (a place near Gundabad in the Misty Mountains). Golfimbul lead a raiding party deep into western Eriador in 2747 Third Age. He was slain by Bandobras “Bullroarer” Took in what was later called the Battle of Greenfields.
Image: Golfimbul is charging headlong with axe raised overhead toward what he thinks is just an overgrown Hobbit. Both hands grip the handle of the axe. He is reckless and overconfident at the sight of his smaller adversary and exposes his entire midsection while he runs. As an Orc-chieftain, his armor is better than average. On his head is a metal helmet with two horns. One is longer than the other, and they are lined up in front of the helmet, much like the horns on a rhino, with the longer horn out in front. He wears a chain tunic covered by a hooded cloak. Tied to his belt is a large sack, which he intends to fill with Hobbit booty (I mean treasure).
I imagine Golfimbul probably caught the end of Bullroarer's club in the belly first, causing him to double-over in pain. Bullroarer then quickly followed up with a spinning roundhouse swing that struck the poor Goblin straight on the chin, snapping his head clean off. YIKES!

PIPPIN WITH THE PALANTIR,
..."Then with a strangled cry he fell back and lay still".
I picture Pippin kneeling with both hands on the palantir between his knees, head thrown back screaming in terror.

HIRLUIN
who came from Pinnath Gelin, the green hills in the west of Gondor, with only about 300 fighters (estimated) to help defending Minas Tirith against the masses sent out from Mordor. They were fewer than those coming from Lossarnach, they were not that skilled in fighting as Imrahil's knights and footsoldiers were. But Hirluin decided that he had to support Gondor and so he did. To me he's to be seen in one line with Prince Imrahil and Forlong the old.

For the good side :
TOM BOMBADIL with the ONE RING
I imagine Tom as single miniature standing with the Precious between his fingers holding it in front of his bright blue eye (paint job) or even on his little Finger, He should not be to slender, the fellowship miniature MS297 of Tom with the badgers is superb.
From Lord of the Rings Book 1 "In the House of Tom Bombadil":
Tom Bombadil took the 4 Hobbits to his house after the rescue from old man willow While the talking by the fireside there was this breathtaking key scene when Tom Bombadíl asked Frodo to show him the One Ring, got it from the Hobbit held it before his eye, put it on his finger and DID NOT become invisible... Then he flung the Ring into the air, and the Ring vanished in a flash...
He is.
As Frodo got the Ring back, he was suspicious and put on the Ring to try, and the Hobbit became invisible... wasn't seen by his Hobbit fellows but he was seen by Tom Bombadil even so!...

For the bad side:
Mewlip striking from swamp
I imagine a new release of one of the most gruesome races of middle-earth: A mewlip from the swamps - maybe sculpted to be mistaken for a slimy, tangled log or rotten bog plant thing... gives me the creeps.... Only it's upper humpy-bumpy body is visible, it's lower half in the creepy waters, striking with it's arms streched out with long grappling fingers and a gruesome, horrible expression in the ugly face. Eyes and mouth with awful jaws wide open but not screaming.. . ready for a silent strangling strike.
Poor victim...
see M254 - it's existing mate...
From Encyclopedia of Arda: >>Mewlips: Evil creatures out of Hobbit legend A strange and secretive race, known only from a reference in a poem of the Shire-hobbits. Their identity is mysterious, and indeed they may not exist at all, or they may represent a distant folk-memory of the Hobbits. They were said to be dangerous creatures, dwelling in the dark, and feasting on unwary travellers who sought them out. Though it's uncertain exactly what kind of beings they were, they do seem to have been at least somewhat Man-like in form, and may represent a confused recollection of Orcs or Trolls.
The Mewlips' dwelling place was said to be a dark valley far over the Merlock Mountains, through 'spider-shadows' and a forbidding wood, and beyond the marsh of Tode. Though these geographical names are not otherwise known, they fit well with the long journey from the Shire across the Misty Mountains and through Mirkwood (which had marshland on its eastern fringes). If that assumption is accurate, the Mewlips' valley would have been in the east, probably somewhere in the region between the Rivers Running and Redwater.<<
nasty, wet cheers, Hwolf

I suggest:
1. An aged King Dain Ironfoot
who fought alongside King Brand in the War of the Ring. (King Brand has already been released as a fellowship figure.) See Appendix B 3019 March 17 and following text.
I imagine Dain to have a long beard tucked into his belt, richly adorned and well armed, in a fighting pose and slightly beat up.
2. Thorin III Stonehelm, Dain's son and new King under the Mountain after the passing of Dain Ironfoot. See Appendix B.

I will try something new, as I like the character of Saruman very much and also the last chapters of the Lord of the Rings. The War of the Ring ended with the death of very tragic characters nd shows als the sadness of Tolkiens Middle Earth.
So I will suggest:
[glow=red,2,300]WORM killing SHARKU[/glow]
I imagine worm (once the proud Grima Wormtongue) stabbing his master holding the dagger with two hands, putting all his energy in this blow, his face showing anger and despair. His clothes should be ragged and used, showing that he fell together with his master. Sharku should have an impression of surprise on his face, leaning a little bit back, being hit by his servant, his staff falling out of his hand, his beard and cloth should have a used no neat look.
I think this would make a nice piece. If put on a diorama base or as two separate figures on 'normal' Mithril bases would be up to the great designer C.T.
MERRY X-MAS !!

Hi new here on the Gold Board... I must say that the Hirluin idea of Theobald does appeal to me as would miniatures of any of Gondor's lesser known forces during the war of the Ring.

Not for this, Master Ent! There couldn´t be done enough to support one who lives with and for this brother- (and sister-) hood . . . And - as you know - I like to see named characters realized. Life´s too short to waste our time!

'The Mouth of Sauron with Frodo's Mithril shirt' I'll resubmit this suggestion as a DIS-mounted M.O.S. - ambassador from the Black Gate holding out before him the Mithril Shirt of Frodo (I picture the Mithril shirt being shown in full and not rolled up so it is obvious what it is) to the anguish of Gandalf and his parley group. His stance would be open legged, arms outstretched with black mail hauberk showing through his robes and possibly (as we have a mounted version) with the same two head designs already available.

Balin, Son of Fundin, Lord of Moria Another resubmission - Balin as newly the newly 'crowned' Lord of Moria. A proud dwarf looking out over Mirromere from the East Gate of Moria perhaps, Lord for a shortwhile of the lost kingdom of the Dwarves. I picture Balin in a pose that gives the impression of a dwarf who is master of all he surveys, possibly hands on hips with a grim but satisfied look on his face. Probably mail clad and possibly with some from of crown or ornate helm to distinguish himself as a lord.

GRIMBEORN Grimbeorn the Old was Beorn's son. Like his father, he could turn into the shape of a bear, and he lived in the same regions as his father had in the Vales of Anduin. He took over as chieftan of the Beornings after his father's death. As chieftain, he kept the High Pass and the Ford of Carrock free from orcs and wolves, though Gloin commented to Frodo Baggins that his "tolls are high" and he was "not over fond of dwarves." OHTAR with the rests of NarsilFrom the ruin of the Gladden Fields, where Isildur perished, three men only came ever back over the mountains after long wandering. One of these was Ohtar, the esquire of Isildur, who bore the shards of the sword of Elendil; and he brought them to Valandil, the heir of Isildur, who being but a child had remained here in Rivendell. But Narsil was broken and its light extinguished, and it has not yet been forged again.(The Council of Elrond, The Fellowship of the Ring) Happy New Year!!

We have many great suggestions this time, and some having been offered many times and very deserving of being produced.
I think that this one has not been suggested yet, and he is a Named Character (forgive me if I am wrong):
UFTHAK THE ORC
He was the miserable orc that went on a mission for the garisson of Cirith Ungol and was captured by Shelob. His fellow orcs discovered him bound and hanging, but didn't help him (much to his cursing of them) because they feared to interfere with the deadly Shelob.

Here is a suggestion of a named character that has been suggested before, but yet to be produced:
DUNHERE, LORD OF HARROWDALE
Dunhere was one of the few Lords in Rohan who responded to the Kings call to arms to fight in Gondor. He fought valiently and fell at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields and was buried with honor along with all of the dead of that battle (except King Theoden) in Gondor.

but where do you get all that nice 'bold print' and colourful words from? When you write a message, a little higher, it says "Add Tags". Here you can vary a message: the color, size, etc.. It is important that you "mark" with the left mouse button-word text to be edited....if you know what I mean.....
