Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This month's ideas is for single figures only, so no mounted miniatures or furniture please. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 18th of May (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 17th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Ahem, what about that restriction (?) for suggestions you just mentioned in your latest newsletter? ... it's not that I don't like it, but ... it's not very clearly expressed, I'm afraid. As I cannot find them here at the opening of the thread for new suggestions I'm a bit puzzled. So, help me, please.

Instead of comical, how about romantic?
A Dunedain Adventurer glimpses sanctuary.
Like Beren, glimpsing Luthien through the trees; Like Aragorn's first glimpse of Arwen...
The adventurer, road weary and travel stained looks off into the middle distance. Before him he can see...
...maybe the Vale of Rivendell after long travails. ...maybe his home and his love. ...maybe the tower of Ecthelion, white in the morning sun. ...maybe he glimpses a beautiful elf maiden dancing or playing her harp in the golden autumn sunlight.
He is wearing a long cloak over a mail shirt, and lung tunic, over a scabbarded sword. He holds his left hand to his chest for warmth. His right hand rest close to his sword. Whatever adventures he has been on have been difficult and dangerous.
He is young, handsome, with longish hair. Perhaps he bears a love token around his neck.
Maybe he is a Ranger, maybe he is one of the Edain of the First Age, maybe he is a traveller of the Fourth Age.

I don't think the amusing theme is a requirement, just a suggestion. Still, I will suggest:
A cranky looking Thorin, head poking out, peering from inside a barrel
(I have other light hearted suggestions in mind, but they require two figures.)

Like I threatened before I will re-suggest: A wandering Noldo-elf He maybe a member of that group which met Sam and Frodo in the Shire but he even might be one of nameless others who liked to walk around Middle Earth in the starlight. The mightiest children of Illuvatar! Now they are wearing a big load of sadness, wisdom, feelings of loss, weariness and the heaviness of all these uncounted ages. Still proud, strong and perilous they appear a lot more introvert, secretive and "monkish"! C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\pastoor\Eigene Dateien\Roland\Bombadil`s Bilder\Victor Ambrus - Wandering elves.jpg[/img] The picture shows some elves on their way to the Undying Lands from Lake Cuivienen. Happy, easy minded, young! My vision of these wandering Noldorin is more sensitive, sad, tired of the different burdens they carry. Attachments:

extraordinary serving animal of Beorns hallI'd like to suggest something quite different from the hobbit chapter the scene in Beorns house, not very spectacular but a bit special: How about one of the funny serving animals of Beorn the skinchanger? There are those 3 funny dogs M87, walking on their hindlegs, carrying dishes and food, see mithril.faerylands.eu/display.php?reference=M87in the text there are mentioned ponys, rolling seats of wood with their noses into Beorns great Hall and sheep with broad backs carrying stags of dishes or food, and a ram was leading the sheep. I always liked the chapter in the Hobbit and I think that ram with some crockery on its back or one pony rolling a seat whould be funny to have in the mithril collection. happy thinking about suggestions, my dear collector fellows!

Very nice, Harald!
I know, Chris would love to make it! But what kind of animal will be allowed in a single-month with no furniture? Perhaps the ram who is leading the sheep would go along with the rules . . . although . . . even a big ram is only one third of a man, I guess.

So, maybe we can have the ram and two sheeps? Without dishes . . . because of the furniture-stuff-rule, of course! We might have some dishes from the UP? Nice ones!

What about another hobbit?? I like the characters, maybe because I realize how similar they are to us, when we grow older So I would like to suggest: [glow=green,2,300]Mr. Proudfoot sitting on chair, his feet at a table, a pipe in his mouth and a beer mug on his belly, shouting: "Proudfeet!"[/glow]This figure would be nice, because we have seen the unexpected party as an MX and the long expected party is the starting point of the Lord of the rings. Maybe this would inspire Chris doing some more Hobbits, maybe an M-series of "Bilbos birthday feast"? This idea inspired me so much, that I am thinking of quitting this suggestion for something else................

I would like to see a
YOUNG ROHIRRIM BOY
who ‘lends’ the arrows and bow of his father to hunt or to play around, (or to defend against Half-orcs at Helm’s deep).
I see him as a figure of the same size as the Bergil figure (M196), but with longer hair, in the usual Rohirrim clothes, with a tunic onto his knees, a short plate mail coat onto his waist, a pot helm on his head, a quiver on his back (of course a little to big for him), and his fathers bow in his hands. He can be standing at rest, or firing, or putting an arrow on his bow (like the pose of the woodman bowman loading, M401). I would prefer the loading pose.
It's not a specific figure mentioned in the books but there aren't many children in the Mithril range so far - can someone make an inventory please ? - and there should be a lot of children in Middle-Earth, so... please support this idea !
It must be several years ago since I made a suggestion BTW. Hi all !

Dervorin, Son of the Lord of Ringlo Vale Simple figure of a 'lesser' Lord of Gondor's son leading his fathers men to the defence of Minas Tirith. "The men of Ringlo Vale behind the son of their lord, Dervorin striding on foot...." RotK, Minas Tirith. I see a warrior on the march lighter in arms and armour with his shield slung over his back and holding a spear over his shoulder. Either mail clad, or some form of leather armour protection with a grim if somewhat exhausted look on his face. An ornate helmet might add a nice touch.

nice suggestions so far, all special.
I whould leave it to Chris Tubb, what kind of Beorns animal. I think there is no problem with a stack of crockery or attached food on an animals back, or something before a snout on the base.
Good one Estel! Mr. Proudfoot is in my mind also! But what about the chair? I whould like to see him showing his big furry feet too!

Master hwolf, yes indeed, the hobbit need a chair (Chris can take one of those of the MX if Master Tree would be o.K. with that, as I know furniture is not allowed this time) and yesssss, hairy feet are absolutely a MUST! A comment about the Rohirrim boy: I would like it very very much having an M-series: T he children of Middle Earth, with Gondorian, Rohir, Haradrim, Beorning, Woodmen, Easterling, Lossoth and so on children at different ages, mixed girls and boys. That is something you cannot find often on the miniatures market!! - Chris, can you hear me?? Remember the fantastic 'women of Middle Earth' M-miniatures. @michael: Michael please, could you tell us, what happened to the idea of a 'humorous suggestion' this month. It seems to be not clear to all of the GF-members.

BEECHBONE, the Ent in flamesEnt of Fangorn Forest. Beechbone was a tall and handsome Ent. He was burned to death by liquid fire during the Ents' attack on Isengard. His fellow Ents were enraged by his death and doubled their efforts to destroy Isengard. Represent just the time when he is enveloped in flames. Ah!, He is also a character named

[glow=red,2,300]One-Eyed Dwarf Sentry[/glow]
Description: I see a dwarf standing watch in front of a gate or perhaps overlooking an underground worksite. He wears a fur-lined helmet, scale armor and sports a very long beard, which he neatly tucks under his belt. Intently, he surveys his surroundings with his one good eye, while a leather patch covers the injured other. Despite his battle hardened appearance, the dwarf appears complacent. He leans nonchalantly against his great pick-axe, right arm resting on top of his weapon. His right leg is bent, with his right boot cocked over his left, giving him an outwardly casual demeanor.

I guess the scrolling feature was a bit much. And the brown was too dark anyway. It did make me laugh though. Thanks.

As I cannot find them here at the opening of the thread for new suggestions I'm a bit puzzled. So, help me, please. I am not forcing any member to submit light hearted suggestions, but I thought it would be a nice theme so I mentioned it on the newsletter. After all, since ALL Fellowship members get the newsletter and they are the only ones that can post, it did not seem essential to add the comment about posting something comical or light hearted on the thread as well.

So right you are, Michael. I should have considered more thoroughly before posting my comment. Sorry. - But your idea about the suggestions for this month seems to work.

When Michael made the suggestion to submit something more light hearted this month, it made me consider other possibilities, which is a plus in itself and a nice break from the norm. In fact, I was planning to submit something worthy of Mordor again but decided to go with the complacent dwarf instead. I think it all worked out for the best.

Hmm. Back from work, and soon off again, but since I am here right now...
I was tempted to suggest the "dwarf in a barrel", but that would be too easy to scratchbuild from any existing dwarf and barrel. So to remain at the scene, I suggest the
Sleeping Elven Guardian
sitting on an (existing, not newly modelled) chair, very relaxed, head slumping an bit and slightly snoring (now, try to model THAT), representing the guards who enabled Bilbo to realize his cunning plan of escape. When I add a table from my inventory and an invisible Bilbo (read: some floating keys) they will make a great little diorama.
