Sorry for the slight delay in the start of the poll, I had to wait for Chris to contact me. This vote is blind (as usual) so vote first and you will see how the vote is progressing afterwards.
This vote ends on the 23rd.
There are 15 great ideas, some I have NEVER seen before. This is always heartening when even after 5 years new ideas still are generating.

Since most only start to think about their selection when the actual vote comes down, I will repeat some of my reasoning for Erestor here. I think it will not hurt to hear/read the introduction of the other options here, too. So on to: Erestor at the council of Elrond I imagine him sitting, rather then standing, with seperate or attached chair (and some flowing robes). He should be in a reflective pose, not unlike Rodins thinker (though not that deeply absent from human, or rather elven, interaction). Perhaps something along that line: thestewscope.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/thinker.jpgthough elvenized by Chris' skill :-)

Lots of good ideas, so it will probably be another close month.

seems that the suggestions in original by me have some chance this time.
Erestor might be one of the figures we can have in nearer future as he was one of the Elves of the White Council.

I found all three references. "..Mauhur and his lads are in the forest, and they should turn up any time now." T T p.72 "Then suddenly the answering cries of orc-voices came from the right, outside the circle of watch-fires, from the direction of the forest and the mountains. Mauhur had apparently arrived and was attacking the besiegers." T T p.75 "The sounds had died away. Evidently Mauhur and his 'lads' had been killed or driven off." T T p.76

I’m picturing the goblin slaver with chains crisscrossing diagonally across his chest. Shackles, and maybe a few padlocks, hang from a wide leather belt around his waist. Sure, he’s weighed down, but his powerful bent legs support his mass with ease. Through the familiar winding tunnels of the Misty Mountains he launches himself, chains and all, like the ghost of Jacob Marley on steroids! Can you hear it? Listen!
Clap! Snap! the black crack! Grip, grab! Pinch, nab! And down down to Goblin-town You go, my lad!
Clash, crash! Crush, smash! Hammer and tongs! Knocker and gongs! Pound, pound, far underground! Ho, ho! my lad!
Swish, smack! Whip crack! Batter and beat! Yammer and bleat! Work, work! Nor dare to shirk, While Goblins quaff, and Goblins laugh, Round and round far underground Below, my lad!

The Isengarder and the Variag have the lead for now, but what about our friends in the Misty Mountains? Surely an empire built by goblins, with a goblin king, goblin soldiers, and a [glow=red,2,300]GOBLIN-DRIVER[/glow]has more appeal! Now don't get me wrong, Mauhur is a beautiful example of no guts, no glory Uruk-Hai, but the goblins of the Misty Mountains are VINTAGE STOCK! Do I hear 3 more votes for the driver? RIGHT! LET'S GO! ;D

Well, living a dwarf-like life as a human was hard in a nearly forgotten past ( . . . have been a miner for several years)! Suggesting an elf might have been even harder. But I did it and I do not regret. Dwarfs fight orcs, elves do . . . but . . . what about men? Abolish slavery! Ban whips!

Note that the Variag people is NOT a true Easterling: living in the Khand plains they are a cultural mix of Easterling and Southron peoples. I don't think that Variags are planned in the fabled Easterling M set and so the MS production is the very last chance to have a Variag foot warrior...

Dunlendings, Easterlings, Haradrim, Variags were all nations of men who marched shoulder to shoulder into battle with the likes of orcs and trolls. Now the idea of men breaking bread and fighting along side monsters sounds preposterous to me. Men quickly grow suspicious and fear anything remotely different or superior to themselves (which is likely why the elves hightailed it out of Middle Earth and the dwarves dug themselves into oblivion). So what was their inspiration? Was it the promise of wealth and power? While the prospect of new and fertile land is always tempting, I doubt it would be enough to sway these men to betray their own kind to the Dark Lord. No, more likely it was the irresistible fashion statement, made by the Goblin-Driver and his chains, that inspired so many humans to march alongside the armies of Mordor! [glow=red,2,300]VOTE…GOBLIN…DRIVER!!![/glow] .................

...and in this time of war, when men and orcs die for their lords, there is somebody waiting for his treasure, sitting on a river's rock, eating a big living fish! ;D ;D ;D
"...Gollum! Gollum!"

well I suppose none here expect me to vote for any kind of orc or gobelin even more if they fall in what i call "commoners"... Since Erestor does not seem to have the favor of many besides myself and maybe his actual supporter, I think I'll cast my vote for Arathron in the second round, if he makes it to the second round. If not, that will be for wandering elf since it would be a character very like myself Sorry Grond, elves don't like orcs

An additional vote breaths new life into the ball of muscle and chain! It’s going to be close now. The poor brute is hanging on for dear life. Beads of sweat pepper his temple, and yet a glimmer of hope can still be seen in the dark recesses of his eyes. Will the big, ugly goblin survive to compete in the next round? Tune in tomorrow when the Goblins of the Misty Mountains confront the Uruk-Hai of Isengard, or they return to Azog’s lair in shame and face the wooden paddle!

Wooden paddle? LOL, I thought you were all about whips and chains! Just kidding, good commentary.
It looks like Hirgon won't make the second round, maybe next month.
