Fine ideas, Gildor, hope someone listens. Also Michael's Twitter channel and especially the planned YouTube videos are interesting developments. Regarding pricing, respect for the reaction, though an army deal would have been nice. Whatever, keep up the auto-shipping to my mailbox. Cheers!

I think that a great marketing move would be for Mithril to have a booth at Gen Con in the USA. Most american gamers do not know that Mithril exists. Mithril is represented by some other dealers at some of the regional miniature oriented conventions, but Gen Con has thousands of other gamers who should be made aware of Mithril. It is too late for this year, but there is plenty of time to plan for next year. I would be willing to volunteer to help with the booth, I am sure that others would also help.

I agree. Mithril needs to tap back into the gaming market...although there isn't any active Middle-earth rpg market, many gamers are at least aware of one fo the roots of the rpg industry. Still, it's a larger market then the specialist collectors corner that is currently floating Mithril (as well as the die-hard wargamers who love the setting and don't care to spend much more on individual miniatures compared to other product offered by those who must go unnamed).

Yes, I keep coming across people who say "Mithril were great in their day, too bad they stopped making new figures in 1995" (Everyone seems to know about the 1995 thing. No idea why.)
There are variants on this, "what? they are still there?" being most common.
The North American game market is in trouble, but its still big. And that other company who shall remain nameless are a large part of that market, but only one of many.
Failing that, perhaps Mithril could work out a distribution deal with someone like Dark Sword Miniatures (failing that, selling the old Prince August fantasy range as a "Chris Tubb Masterwork" series might work).
But Mithril has to, absolutely, get its name out there, and shift more product.

in case mithril wants some feedback about the primer used for the new Gamling's rally... I received my figurines today. this primer is odd : in some places it is very thick and erases details or angles and is very very smooth and not "granular" like the old primer... in other places, the spray may have been too thin and there is a texture of white/gray dots all over those parts... It often happens on faces, or in areas difficult to access. I'v not checked them all, but it seems to not fall apart like the primer used for the last GF figures which had small thick scales of primer wearing off the figurine while painting Well that's only a feedback... Feel free to share your experience I suppose

The primer quality is unacceptable! To complete Gildor´s post: some parts are not covered at all ( these white/gray dots ), other parts are covered that thick, that Chris Tubb´s skills as a sculptor is covered also! What a pity ! Happy to see a little bit of the White Hand-icon on the shield ! ! ! We all have been waited three more weeks for the release of the new range until mithril solves their primer problems and we receive smeared up miniatures ( for a original price increase of 80% ) . For the reason of not loosing the fine details I have to remove the ultra-thick-primer-stuff . I did it yesterday evening and during my remove progress the spear of the M 516 broke . . . !

yes there seems to be some problems of bending and "solidity" for all spears and swords in the last range, I don't have a single "straight" sword or spear in the whole 10 figurines... I will bend them over , hoping they don't break.
I know Mithril has a special ... touch and history ...with their primer but lately, I'd say that the figurines are better without any primer than with one...
We can't use the details, or this gray/white stuff on the faces makes it impossible to distinguish face features (mustache, eyes etc)
well what's done is done... but please, in the future, avoid yourself any problem of this kind... rather than using such a primer, do not use primer at all... that'll be far better I think...

I do agree to what was said before by Gildor and rita.de No primer at all is better than this one. What I do not understand about this matter is why Mithril doesn't use the "old" primer any more, but instead of this had several attempts to use onother one ...

let me be ironic.... (or maybe realistic?)... maybe the old one was too expensive to use? ....

I would like to know mithril´s reason for not using the old primer. What can be wrong with primer ? Instead of having some more of these coiny things of course. But does that count ?

The reason we changed the primer was that the old primer was no longer available. The new manufacturer of this primer gave us instructions and we followed them to the letter. We realise now that the primer is too thick so we are going to dilute the primer (asked the manufacturer how to do this) and that will improve it. I personally wish to apologise for any trouble caused by this new primer.
