I think a poll on the topic of the Primer could be a good and neutral idea and would provide mithril some "statististics" and audits about what the customers like or not?
this is purely objective and not collectors-only oriented... Please answer the poll so that we can express our feedback to Michael and Lars

Yes, Gildor, a very good suggestion. Because with that THICK PASTE on the beloved miniatures every serious painter is been constrained to strip the current THING off. And that is kind of horror . . . I will vote ! I have voted ! And I hope ALL fellows here will do so. The current primer is unaccebtably !

Agreed. The gunk, custard or semolina that's being currently used is ruining the detail of Chris's superb sculpting. If that's the best undercoating we can expect for from now on, I'd rather have my figures without any primer at all.

I voted for "primed the old way". The problem simply is if there's a chance to have the old primer again. Why did Mithril try to change the primer if the old one would still have been available? I don't know. If the old primer isn't available any more I would rather agree with Barliman: No primer at all.

I agree, no need to say any different - I have always thought the primer made Mithril stand out heads above the others, as I have not received the HD figures yet because I am waiting for the new GF releases I cannot comment on this new stuff, but I don't like having to work hard to strip primer and reapply.

I have never had to remove primer before. What is the best method?

Dump the figure into a jar of Simple Green or Cilit Bang (called Bam! Easy Off in North America). Currently experimenting with TSP, which isn't being terribly promising. But that's how one gets the d**n primer off

We had to use this new primer as we cannot source the older stuff. We followed the manufacturer's instructions but we acknowledge that the primer is thicker than the older one. We are going to dilute the primer for future spraying. While I have no problem with this poll, the option of the 'old' way is not possible. We will work on making the new stuff better but there is no 'old' stuff. If members want to have figures unprimed in the next major release we might be able to accommodate them.

I would always prefer the primed version, as I said previously this is what made Mithril figures stand out all those years ago, but obviously if Mithril can sort the problem with this new batch then so much the better.

Sometimes the primer can get chipped off despite careful drilling , creating an uneven finish if the chipped primer is not removed and the model resprayed when drilling and assembly is completed. I would like to buy my models comepletely unprimed . If flash or channels of unwanted metal are filed off primed models , the exposed metal has to be re-primed with brush paint , which is not as tough.
