Well, there's one more question. As last year's Christmas figure (Thranduil) is 32mm (for the first time - except that obscure vignette in 1989) and there have been no more releases of the LO-series for quite some time we wonder if Mithril has cancelled the 54mm figures completely. I have to say that I always liked those figures very much (LO and the antique-finished Christmas figures). Maybe Michael is able to answer this to keep us collectors informed. Thank you.

I agree with Theobald . I'd really like an answer about that. 54mm had a great level of detail which is a true pleasure both for antique finish, or for the art of painting them with lots of precision

That's exactly what I meant, Gildor. But I couldn't put it into words. Fortunately I still have got 15 LOs to paint. Those are for the days when I grow older than I am now

We have had a significant drop in interest in 54mm Mithril figures. Therefore we put our budget into releaseing 32mm figures, which result in better overall sales. However we are not cancelling the range, just not making it a priority currently. What new figures would you suggest for a future 54mm range?

A mounted Knight of Dol Amroth seeing as these chaps are on the horizon. Eomer fighting Ugluk Sharky and Wormtongue I do need to catch up on these 54mm figures myself - those I do have are beautifully detailed figures.

Well, as a first idea I can imagine series that could be used as a chess set (I know that there are very nice sets available with Prince August, but they're not based on Mithril figures alone). I said series as the LOs always were released in a series of several figures. So, two series for the officers for either side are needed (King, Queen, Bishop, Horse, Tower). The pawns could be non-individual representatives of the different races of Middle Earth. [Here's a slight problem with the 54mm size, I agree] Just a first thought, as I said. ... Aragorn and Arwen in royal garment facing Sauron and the Witch-King on the other side ... Ents as 'Towers' facing Mordor Trolls ... a Rohirrim rider and a Dunedain rider against two mounted Nazgûls ... etc. But maybe this idea is a bit too far off the idea of the original LO-releases.

Our license does not allow for chess pieces. That is one reason why we cannot title any of our chess moulds or finished sets as 'Lord of the Rings'.
