Hi my friends, I want to make sure that everyone is happy with the forum. That is my dream and I know that is not always possible, but I try.
A few years ago members asked that the vote be blind, to make it a fair vote, just like 'real' votes in the elections. That was not possible on Proboards until now. There is limits to what I can do.
Change always will ruffle a few feathers as people get used to doing something one way and get upset when something happens to disrupt that.
However I want it to be agreed by the majority of members. So I made a vote on it, and you will have a week to vote. That is fair. ANY MEMBER WHO DOES NOT VOTE SHALL NOT COMPLAIN LATER.
I will abid on the final decision, AS WILL ALL MEMBERS. I cannot please everyone, so please be tolerant.
Now it is possible for me to make the vote visible AFTER any member applies his vote, but I will REMOVE the option to change your vote at that stage. Otherwise the blind vote is a waste of time. So if you do not wish to be filled with suspense waiting for the vote to expire then that is certainly an option I can apply in any of the voting options that use the blind format. This means you will instantly know the current status of the vote AFTER you have voted.
The vote ends next Tuesday automatically.

very good idea this poll Mike and absolutely correct, it's very hard/impossible to satisfy everyone
but I think it's too early and difficult to decide, for we have no experience with the satisfaction of a hidden voting. (my opinion of course) I whould wait what happens at the first hidden voting, the way you have planned it at Prince August/Mithril (first round and second round)
cheers, hwolf

Michael. Thanks for giving us the choice in this. I like the idea of a private vote for the first round, open in the second. I'm glad you had the foresight to offer us these choices, and will happily abide by any outcome.
The ability to decide when (if) we want to see the current vote tally in exchange for locking in our previous vote is a great addition to the survey, and I can see checking the current tally often when I'm sure of my vote.

This really is a very good idea and a wise decision. I think everybody should be satisfied with it.

MAE GOVANNEN MELLON, good idea this poll, good idea to change something, I have no problems with blind voting as politicians are always elected this way and it could make voting more thrilling. Not all will be satisfied, whatever Michael does to improve the forum as even Mithril fans seem to be different. Maybe the first round should be blind and the second open. NAMARIE

As I've intimated elsewhere, it will prove impossible to satisfy everybody, whatever the outcome, but allowing everyone an opportunity to have their say and giving them the chance to vote for their preferred option is certainly the best way forward. Very sensible. Thanks, Michael. Your efforts on everyone's behalf are, as ever, appreciated.

Very good thinking! I would like the first round blind and the second open. There could go minis in the second round which normally wouldn't have a chance with open voting.

I also vote for a first round blind and a second open. I see it more as a game than as something that really going to affect the final choice. I have spent little time in the forum, but from what I have seen in past votes, all the models I found fantastic. I think all good ideas so sure that the winner will also be good. The important thing is not so much as vote as the ideas that contribute. Thanks to Michael and Mithril by always think about the satisfaction of the members of the forum!

Perhaps I already voted and forgot, but I couldn't appear to vote on this ( I think I forgot there was a deadline actually : , but in any case now the initial excitement has calmed down a bit my preference would be to have the first round open and try the second round blind that way we can sort the 'wheat from the chaff' in the first round and wait and see in the second. I'm not keen from the quick glance at the other thread about being able to change votes during the second round, first round fine that way tie's can be sorted, but I think the second round is where a lot of peoples hopes of having their names up in lights could be dashed by a switch of vote at a late stage . Having now experienced the cast your vote and wait and see I am in full agreement with earlier comments about the fun of the voting system being lessened by the hidden vote system, yes it does stop you from checking and visiting, but "Nothing lost nothing gained", you are at least trying different options Micheal

I see I am stuttering again - my apologies I'm not sure if the PC I'm using or the thread was playing up. When I wrote the post the vote result was not visible so I guess the gremlins are at work somewhere. (Michael) - I deleted the excessive posts. This can happen if you are pressing the back button after posting and then posting the same thing again (happened with me when I modified something using that method).

I really like the idea of a blind vote for both rounds. This way it forces people to really think about their choice. I do not like the ability to change your vote.

I prefer blind vote in the first round and open in the second. And: Michael, thank you that you have implemented the possiblity to view the results immediate after the vote. I think it is not necessary to modify a vote. Regards Alexander

I do not know who you voted for but I can see the list of voters. I like that these new options have gotten so many comments, it is great to see lots of conversation about topics as it makes the forum very exciting. When the vote is over we can modify the voting system's minor points to make it as pleasant as possible for everyone. So far it seems that there is a fairly even split between 3 of the options. But it does seem to be leaning towards the adoption of blind voting in some format.

So far 39 out of 250-something ... that's not a lot, methinks. That worries me a bit, as Barliman often complained about the number of people taking part in the votes on the GF-board. And I always had to agree with him. So once again it seems that there's a small number of people being active here ... then they decide what to happen. What about the others? Just being passive members, so to say, couldn't "keep a customer satisfied", I believe. Anyway, thank you, Michael, for providing all those polling-possibilities to us. Great job.

There are about 170 gold status members, the others are non -fellowship that may post in the regular forum only. It is true that some members simply do not take an active part in the forum, despite my asking them too. I have not been given any correspondance from those members explaining why they do not take a more active role. I know some members are on autoshipment and /or simply collect everything produced and do not really care about taking part in the day to day activities. If any member that reads this that does not vote or submit ideas then please let me know why that is. It would help me improve the forum and club in general.

It's strange, isn't it? Even if people don't participate or vote, and do buy every Mithril figure that comes out, you'd have thought that they'd still have preferences, and would like to see some figures added to their collections more than others.

Huooommmm ... indeed ... Master Barliman. ...yes, indeed ... huommm ... though I'm on that auto-shipment-thing (that I once started) I always try to keep up with the latest news or polls or votings ... rhuoomm ... and I did vote ever since the Fellowship saw its light ... hom! ... and yes, I'm one of those who buys all those nice miniatures, whatever character or scene is chosen to be produced ... rhuoommm ... so I could sit back and await the postman ... huoommm ... but what for? That way my collection would be automatically filled up with the latest releases without me having to do anything (except unwrapping and placing figures)..... rhuoomm ... Next chapter: As you all know I never suggested any figure or idea here ... as I really do like most of the suggestions ... but I take my choice by voting each time ... rhuooommm ... this had to be said .... hom I tried to concentrate my ideas on the Imrahils .... rhuoomm ...
