Hi Chris send me a preview of Queen Beruthiel and some cats. It's beautiful (is it a surprise?) . I think it was a big difficulty to create cats and the result is perfect. Thank you chris. Krosbone Be watchful! Spying-Cats are among us.

Wenn du Glück hast bei MMP, ansonsten nicht eher als auch die Nichtmitglieder. Das klappt bei Mithril einfach nicht!
Schade.

Why are you so impatient Why don't you sit back and relax as I do? I voted for Beruthiel twice. I am glad that she'll be available soon. I am not that "mad" about (*sorry*) to see a first photo released because I know about the quality of Mithril releases, as we all do (Though I can understand the excitement, which I do share. I know these feelings and excitements for long). Cats, I like them. What was the discussion about that for Chris it might have been hard work to do them? He did them brilliantly twice with both of the Radagast figures. Are dragons more complicated? Is adding to a miniature of such size all these details even more complicated? Do you think smaller figures are easier to be made? Well, let me just sit back and be aware that Beruthiel is in production. By the way, I think we shouldn't be too inventive with all our ideas - to me now it sometimes seems to be a competition of suggestions. My first idea today was trying to take the "haste" out of this. Huooommmmmmmmmmmmm. I didn't want to keep anybody here from his or her enthusiathm, I share. And I didn't want to step on anybodies shoes.

Heh - the Ent is strong in you, Theobald! Am lookin' forward to seeing Beruthiel, although, as you say, I'm sure she'll be here in good time, and by the sound of it in mighty fine form when she is .

The Queen looks nice, very nice! I had for some reason imagined her in a standing pose (as if looking proudly/arrogantly from a bridge - I think a member described this scene), but the enthroned 'Dame' looks the business and should paint up well. Did someone mention the cats all being black apart from one which was white? Once again thanks to Chris and all involved. David.

Yes, David, I agree. It's a wonderful vignette!!! and I would like to add my congratulations to Chris Tubb, too. As you, David, started thinking about painting the figure I just can tell that I have no idea. I would be very much pleased if anybody here could help me with this. I even have to admit that (except the quotation from the LotR) I don't know anything about her. I'm ashamed to say that I even don't know if she's elvish or human. How does anybody know about the colour of the cats? Wonderful vignette, yes. Huomm.

Terrific! I have owned cats all my life, and either Chris has had a few about the house, or he spent time studying their posture and poses. These three certainly are positioned in a believable manner.
As to the questions above, Beruthiel's cats are mentioned in passing in the Fellowship of the Ring by Aragorn right after the company escaped the Watcher in the Water and entered Moria. He was trying to assure the company that Gandalf would be able to find his way clearly in the dark.
There is a detailed reference to Queen Beruthiel and her cats in the notes (#7.) to the Istari, section two of Part Four in the Unfinished Tales. Indeed there were ten cats, nine of them black who spied upon the men of Gondor. The tenth cat, white, was set by the Queen to spy upon the other nine cats--very devious indeed!
As for her race, it is not mentioned specifically that I know of, but most assuredly was Human and more specifically a Dunedain descendant of Numenor. She was married to Tarannon, Twelfth King of Gondor (aka Falastur, the Lord of the Coasts) who reigned from 830 to 913 of the Third Age. To have married outside of the Dunedain nobility would have caused an outcry, and been recorded in Tolkien's writings. Such an occasion is said to have led to the Kin-Strife (Civil War) in Gondor in 1432 TA.
Beruthiel is described as loveless and indeed did not bare any children for King Tarannon, making him the first Childless King (his nephew, Earnil I, carried on the line of Anarion). Indeed, Beruthiel is said in Unfinished Tales to hate colors and elaborate adornment, wearing only black and silver and living in bare chambers.
Hope this helps with your painting!

twrich, this is what I would call perfect and immediate information Thank you very much !!!! By the way, I also have been in close contact with cats all my life Am I wrong to say that Chris took the cat on the right (in the picture) from the one he used with the Radagast-version in the LR-series of the Istari (LR 3)? That one was great ... and let us not foget the "cat-position" of the M 84 (snuggling) which also could have been added here, I think. He sculptures cats perfectly. So, because of your explanation the one sitting on the armrest of the throne must be the white one "to spy upon the other nine" (sic!) - this is a nice parallel, isn't it? - Those two (of the nine) are in "cat-gesture" perfectly posed to the throne and its queen. Huommmmmmmm .... marvellous, let me say.

Hello Michael!
congratulations to the new vignette (Beruthiel) to the Mithril - Team.
It´s great (like allways).
I have a problem with my browser to buy it. I don´t know why, but I can´t see it on the Mithril-Page with Mozilla Firefox (only the great picture, nothing in the price- and description - box). With Internet explorer there is no problem. No other problems wit Mozilla only with the new Queen Beruthiel offer.
Best regards
Zoetrop

Either rght click over the pricelist and press 'reload' or press CTRL +F5 to refresh the entire page. That should solve it.

Beruthiel arrived safe and sound - she looks as aloof and arrogant as described. Nice one Chris.
