My compliments to Chris on a figure nicely done! The fun part will be painting him all in white.

As the promoter of the Helm figure, I must say I am extremely pleased with the results. Once again, Chris has demonstrated his tremendous creativity and deft touch for sculpting figs. The Helm I envisioned was very derivative of Mithrils that are already out there, so I find the final fig to be much more original, creative, and subtle than anything I could have imagined. I really would like to thank everyone who voted for Helm, and all the Fellowship members as well as the folks at Mithril and Chris Tubb especially. This has been a very interesting and fun experience for me! To add a little personal back story to my suggestion, my father passed away in early February, submitting to lung cancer only four months after being diagnosed. I tend to be of a melancholy bend anyhow, but an event like this really sets your mind to thinking. I have a son who is nearly 2, I am 34, and my father died at 63. His father died at 67, when he was 33 and I was about 2 1/2. So if I die when my son is only 33, that makes me 64 or 65. I fully expect to live at least to 70 , but for the first time, I can really sense my own mortality, feel Death far over the distant horizon, continuing it's slow, inexorable walk to meet me. So, I guess I see this figure as capturing a bit of my mood and feelings at this point in my life. I can understand a little better how Helm must have felt, seeing his sons die and his world collapse around him. Fathers and sons. Philip E. Keyerleber 4th April 1943 7th February 2006

Hi Presto, reading your post hopefully you will be around for some years to come yet! I'm sorry, as I'm sure other members will be to hear about your father, hopefully the sadness of this event this will lessen as time goes by.
If you are lifting a horn of ale to toast 'Fathers and Sons', then I'll join you in that toast for although my father is still around, if it wasn't for him I might not have discovered the world of the modelling hobbyist.
My Helm figure arrived yesterday and it is a(nother) beautiful sculpt from Chris, so take some cheer from the facy that your idea will give pleasure to many.
David.
