;)Must be quick I am at work, but I have just seen the Gothmog images posted.
I rarely say anything bad (if at all – yes it may be boring) about Mithril/CT designs, and this is no exception.
I had no idea where Chris would take this one as I had no preconceived conceptions as to what ‘Gothy’ would look like.
I think Chris has captured perfectly the posture of a Commander directing his troops from horseback, from the casual hand on hip, to the sweep of his sword directing the movement of troops. The helmet from what I can see looks suitably menacing, and the horse looks good.
Yes, I like this figure a lot and had it been my suggestion I would be sitting back, smiling in satisfaction.
I think Chris has ‘done the business’ with Gothy.

I like the casual, understated pose, which generates an uneasy sense of malevolence. The skull-like helmet is a nice touch. All in all, a true gem worthy of the Fellowship range.

Well, lets sit back and smile in satisfaction (though we all know the original idea was made by someone who had a huge orc on his mind). At least we now know that Chris version of Gothmog is human - at least in outer appearance. That fits well into my own version of ME.
I would like to convert him slightly, though. I will make the horse standing, and put the sword back in the scabbard. A feared and skilled general should not need to draw his own weapon in battle. If I could I would make the left hand resting on the hilt, but that will probably demand too much work. Depending on the actual look of the miniature (its hard to judge from these two shots) he could also need a bit of elaboration on the helmet.
That said, I like him enough to get myself two of them, one in its original pose and one to convert and paint.

I'm curious as to what painting scheme people will use on this figure. By that I mean would you use the Moon Skull of Minas Morgul or the Red Eye of Sauron or even a combination of the two? I'll have to order this figure and experiment with it.

I must admit I am impressed about this figurine. The pose is excellent and the helmet makes it impossible to know what kind of person it is .. it could be a half-orc (very improbable) a black numenorean (like mouth of sauron but more fighter than diplomat.. mostly probable) a simple human, a nazgul (why not but improbable) I never thought it could be an orc actually so the way it is represented is great for me

It's an amazing miniature, I think. - I have to confess that I really like every detail (as far as they can be seen in the pics) and the posture of both, commander and horse. Absolutely great !!! Respect, Chris Tubb, chapeau!

Gothy and the Witch King arrived and both are excellent figures. Gothy has lived up to expectations and will paint up really good I think.

Today I also received both miniatures and have to say that BOTH are absolutely excellent !!! As for Gothmog it seems that Chris Tubb decided to give him a human shape (not the one of an orc) as it could be seen in the pictures that were published - but looking at the figure holding it in your hands reveils more details. He reminds me a bit of the old LR-series of Nazgûls (a series I still value very much - it needed a lot of skill to paint those 10, I think). So far the version of the Witch-King from this series was the one that impressed me most ... now there's the new one and there's more movement in his pose. Once the arms and the sword are added it is an amazing miniature. I'm just glad to nave joined the Mithril-Gold-Fellowship

I received them today too and I must admit they are indeed really great. (the undercoating is also perfect for both of them!!!) I had not noticed that the witch-king beint released at the same time as Gothmog actually mean that in the same package we have the commander and his second in command. Well, on the batterfield (after he has dismounted its fell beast) before the witch-king is overthrown.. that would made a perfect battle scene. This witch king against a single Eowyn... why not... And Gothmog not very far from there giving orders to troops (you will have noticed that both of them have their arms pointing afar , as if giving orders or preparing assault) that gives you ideas ddaines?
