Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member.
This month's ideas is for single figures only, so no mounted or Vignettes (more than 2 people or a lot of furniture + two people) please. A mounted figure counts as two figures (horse/camel/warg/etc)
The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability.
Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY:
IDEA TITLE
"this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..."
Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion.
Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote.
Voting will begin on the 12th of November (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 11th.
You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions.

I will start then. As requested, my suggestion is this time a scary one. "The Witch-king's Fell Beast calling for its master"The creature would be landed, wings half opened and baying at the moon (if we can use this expression for a non dog... )

ahem a bit "big" don't you think Milo? it is supposed to be a single month now though, if we want to be creepy... we could use undead.. mmmhh how long has it been since last Barrow-wight? but that would not be "special" as barrow wights already exist... in many references what about a lurking Gollum? (perched from above, looking downward as if to jump and attack Frodo from above)

I would like to see :
PIPPEN WITH THE PALANTIR
holding the palantir , head back , with mouth and eyes open , with a look of silent terror. that should go well with the scary theme and the fact that there is only one Hobbit GF figure that I know of.

HARADAN PRIESTESS OF THE LIDLESS EYE CULT The most beautifull woman of the remote south, veiled and dressed in the most rich garment and jewels of this proud race, advancing with his curved knife ready to spill blood in the name of his Dark Master.
An Haradan female character has never been proposed nor released, and may be very interesting to see how Mr. Thubb may feature this subject.

I will suggest something which is totally up to Chris, what it will look like. I dedicate this suggestion of Aragorn being Estel to my son and my wife. It might be a small boy playing, a young man holding Anduril or the shards of Narsil or anything else Chris could imagine.

"The Witch-king's Fell Beast calling for its master"The creature would be landed, wings half opened and baying at the moon (if we can use this expression for a non dog... ) Excellent. I was thinking of submitting the same, but my thought was to submit a fallen beast, one that had crashed and lay ruined on the ground. Also, Gildor makes a good point. You may want to confirm with Michael if the creature is too large. There is still time to alter or completely change your idea.

Even if the fell beast is large, I think it shall be considered as a single one.
Grond, may I suppose I have your support for the first time?

What about one of the the most scary scenes in the novel? I resuggest
"Burning himself" Denethor the Steward with Palantir
from the pyre of Denethor from "The Return of the King"
I imagine a still standing figure of Denethor with some flames licking on his noble garments, (no big pyre base necessary for it is easy to make by self )
He is holding the palantir in both hands in front of him or even holding it up with a mad expression on his face and oily hair
There is just one sitting Denethor miniature so far.

Thorin III Stonehelm (Third Age 2866 – Fourth Age) was the son and heir of Dáin II Ironfoot of Durin's folk, who was king of the Dwarves of Erebor and the Iron Hills in Wilderland. In full armor, with cloak, helmet with a shape of a dragon head, standing with a sword in his back or better in his hand…. maybe some pose like mithril.faerylands.eu/gallery/M274/off_m274.jpg His helmet could be scary monster look

The Passage of the Marshes My thought for something Ghostly is a depiction of the Dead Marsh wraiths as Frodo, Sam and Gollum make their way across the Dead Marshes. The characters would be an orc, an elf and a Numenorian designed to be entwined in death, all sculpted as one piece which I think is well within Chris Tubbs’ capable imagination and within the single figure rule. As this is a singles month I picture a swirling mass coming out of the base and sculpted to suggest body forms beneath sodden robe's so apart from three heads showing the different races and perhaps a couple of hands or arms, the details can all be sculpted on the single 'body mass' piece. The only extra parts would perhaps be a hand or two holding a sword or other weapon. I would even suggest a hand holding a lantern as the source of the lights that Sam and Frodo saw. The robes and long hair would be flowing upwards and outwards to give the impression of being moved by the water of the marshes. As to whether the characters look as they were in life, or to add a bit of artistic licence have a decayed look would be CT’s choice, if the latter then any weapons should look worse the wear. I will hopefully produce a sketch to illustrate the idea.

Well, it's a bit early to say for sure yet, but if your suggestion is approved, you will likely have it. It should work very well in conjunction with the Witch-King of Angmar. Hmmm, I'm still pondering what to suggest.

I won't repeat extensively what I have said in the public forum but to sum up... enough is enough...
I have already given a suggestion this month prior to the lately events...
but I won't vote for anything not even my own suggestion...
I call for a boycot of the MS (I know it is the SECOND time I do that but it seems some persones in charge at Mithril can't learn their lessons from the past and don't know HOW to listen to the community so... a sanction vote is the best thing I can submit at the moment...
If you follow my motivations... I encourage you all NOT TO VOTE for anything when the vote begins...
and in the months to come, if STILL nothing is done , I encourage to not submit either...
it is only a "suggestion" of mine.. it is not in my power to force things upon anybody but EVERYBODY, long time collector or recent customers can see that the Gold Fellowship has become an excuse... not to release anything else...
I encourage people to go in the PUBLIC forums for the Mithril WISHLISTS and create polls, and suggest there, and vote there for future releases... and until regular releases become REGULAR again, put the Gold Fellowhip on FULL standby...
I DO think Mithril does not deserve OUR money if they take us all for fools by not addressing or not even answering to simple questions...
I will address the issue to Chris Tubb himself and discuss with him about those events , suggesting him that he also delays his own production if he supports our motivations... which I know he does... regarding the regular releases...
I may become a very annoying person for Prince August and mister Edman... but so be it... in two years of time, I can't understand how or why we have been treated like this...
and please... don't fool us again : don't talk about time pressure and workload upon Chris shoulders!! I won't enter in details because I would break the confidence Chris put in me but I have PROOF it is pure LIE....
Please note that through all my bitterness and anger... I remain polite and respectful, as I like to act as a gentleman... and I am ready to regain my calm if dialogue options with a person in charge can be achieved... by person in charge I mean mister Lars Edman himself... not mister O'Brian...

Are we talking about nuclear arms shipment to North Korea here or tiny metal figurines? Let's have some perspective. This is all just for FUN isn’t it? You are a great asset to Mithril Gildor, maybe even their No.1 fan. You certainly carry a lot of clout in this forum, but why get worked up over something you have no control over? As members, we’re not the ones pulling the strings. Personally, I feel privileged that Mithril allows us to suggest and vote on future releases of any kind. That in itself is extraordinary. Every month we should all feel excited about it. I'm sorry Gildor, but discouraging it in any way is counterproductive.

I can understand the feeling of being ripped off by Mithril as voiced by Gildor. It gives you the impression you are only welcome as a cash-cow, not taken seriously and being more or less ignored as soon as it gets beyond simple voting for the highly-priced GF regular releases. Gildor is right to voice his frustration that the supposed supplementary Gold Fellowship has become the regular series and the supposed regular series (with GF as a 'special' club) - M - has evolved into a sporadic release series with (for us) arbitrary release criteria and schedule.
An honest and clear communication by Mithril about the reasons for this development together with a concrete and re-enactable plan for the future (which is really followed-up and not only voiced to appease the fans for the moment) would be really helpful IMO.

it is a matter of being respectful and polite master Grond... nothing less nothing more... now if you want to carry on being a sheep instead of a wolf..., that's like suggesting and voting... you are free to be so I for once won't ... because, even if nobody asked me to do so... I spend money for Mithril... outside the fact of Buying their figurines promoting them has a cost... if they don't do it themselves I do... I don't ask for straight solutions, I ask for answers and replies... THIS , I think we deserve... if Prince August considers Mithril too risky a business and counterproductive in terms of profit... maybe it's time for Mithril to change Mother house... My dedication is towards Mithril and Chris Tubb.... not towards Prince August Now I am open to debate.... and compromises and councilations... but coming along with solutions and suggestions and being greeted by silence and "sorry I'm too busy we'll see that later"... is a lack of RESPECT... oh and to correct you master Grond... we are not only members... we are customers.... and without customers, an enterprise cannot live.... Sorry but I have to disagree totally with you, but I respect your point of view and can indeed understand it is shared by many other "inactive" customers/members... the lack of communication is the problem... I have been willing to OPEN communication ways with Mithril many times for me and other "active" and motivated collectors... but Mithril DOES not want to hear us or answer us... It is not about saying "we try the best for you" it is about answering in a productive manner to each of our suggestions and WHY thay could or could not be used, on a case basis...

Well, this mentioned privilege is only the surface, isn´t it. I am NOT privileged if the only possibility to get a mithril-figure is to suggest, to wait, to wait and to buy for 20.00 Euros a single miniature. That means also, this miniature pleases me. If NOT, I have to wait and to wait and to wait. That means : NO miniature on my workbench in fact. I am surely NOT privileged. In other words: What does Mr. Edman do? He stops the normal range of miniatures, he gives us the ONLY possibilty to buy a figure for 20 Euros. Each month? Where is the figure for october? I have painted halforcs and rohan wariors in may 2009. Since then I am waiting to build a diorama. Since then the miniatures are flowing around eating dust. How long should I wait until I can fulfill my Helm´s Deep diorama? I WANT TO BUY MINIATURES !!!! I WANT TO PAINT THEM AND TO PUT THEM INTO A DIORAMA ! WHERE ARE THOSE MINIATURES !!!

You want Regulars banned from the GF poll. The main reason being they tend to be larger and more costly. And, since you are inclined to buy every miniature released by Mithril, it’s wearing a hole in your wallet is that right? I can understand that. Others undoubtedly feel the same way. I don’t understand the “ripping off” part, however, because no one is holding a gun to your head and forcing anyone to purchase anything. Personally, if I see something I like, I buy it. If I don’t care for it, I pass on it. Obviously, there other reasons why Regulars are frowned upon by certain members. They are perceived as obstacles (maybe even a threat) by those who favor the M and MS releases. Thingol, again, makes his point very clear. BTW, thank you Thingol for the kind words last month.
You must feel you have some leverage to sway them Gildor. I think that‘s great. Without this type of input, this forum would be just another place to suggest and vote. However, I wish you and the others would reconsider. Change in this forum can only come about by voting, not the lack thereof. One thing is certain; we will all learn something from this experience.
Speaking of customers and enterprise, remember when Porsche was forced to expand their product line by producing larger vehicles such as SUVs and sedans? Now, when I think of Porsche, I think of their sleek 911 twin turbo. That’s the only Porsche I would ever buy. The point is Porsche does not manufacture automobiles for me. They had to adapt to the changing market in order to survive. I know some longtime customers were appalled by the change and voiced their opinions loud and clear. However, the topic was not truly open for discussion. The alternative for Porsche would have been Chapter 11.

If by now you have not understand that my "fight" is not for regulars to be "banned" from anywhere but to HAVE REGULARS being released!!
now if you don't care about mithril disappearing totally except the MS.... good for you...
but it seems you are the only one here among those who care to comment on the problem
since in democracy, things are achieved by voting, a sanction vote here to express the feeling is indeed the right place for the community to express itself.
it's not a money problem...
it seems you keep making mistakes on the motivations... maybe because you are not willing to take part in Mithril life and are just contempt ... Maybe it is because you have not personnaly exchanged mails with Chris when HE does say HE IS UPSET by the lack of regulars as much as I Do... but he is not heard by Mithril leader Lars Edman.... even if Chris is the founder of Mithril himself... this does hurt... for someone passionate...
What have you done to promote mithril yourself? what would you be ready to do? have you even suggested something in that sense... I tend to believe you are among those happy not to see anything being released beside MS....
Prove me wrong...
(post edited as it MAY happen I did not understand all of the sense of Grond's post.... my english maybe... I'm ready to make amend if I was wrong on the understanding totally but I'd need some explanation then)

I don’t understand the “ripping off” part, however, because no one is holding a gun to your head and forcing anyone to purchase anything. Of course not. I tried to say that the only way to get *anything* from Mithril nowadays is the GF. That way regular figures which are made (to a certain degree) are sold for three times the price that would be appropriate (through M releases). If this is supported by suggesting such figures (and voting for them!) Mithril would be stupid not to accept it. Why sell something for 7 bucks if you have people voting for and buying it for 20! Even if I don't buy them I feel like being pulled off as a - potential - customer if you know what I mean. That way I get the impression that this company is using a dedicated fan-community to sell miniatures highly overpriced by simply refusing to make regular minis that would probably give a profit as well. Regardless whether I buy something or not, that's why I feel this is "ripping off" people. In a way they are a threat where they shouldn't be. As I understand it, it *should* be that the M (and MS) series are for the "normal" stuff and the GF is for something special (therefore the inflated prices). By discontinuing M's and forcing their type of minis into the GF (to see some of them at least) they are made a threat by the company, using the suggesters/voters as the excuse who "want" these as GF minis. If we continue in just suggesting and voting, there's no need for the company to change anything, as this new business model functions (as intended?). At least, if there are only 4 or 5 voters left, a single vote will be a much stronger influence as if 40 votes are cast. But if then only 5 models are sold and the rest of the people refrains from buying these overpriced M's, *that* would be a much stronger way of moving things (compared to a boycott of voting) as it would hit Mithril's current business model and might start a change in its policy (especially in hearing the community or even communicating with them). The important difference is that Porsche still sells 911's in any configuration you'd like. They have not stopped one line to make another. Best Tolwen
