As I'm re-arranging my collection at the moment a question came up. After the first 12 releases of the Gold Fellowship Mithril offered a bonus figure for those collectors who bought all those 12 releases. That was the Witch-King as a bonus figure in 2006. I witnessed that by now the Troll Drummer was the 24th release. So the question is if there are plans of the Mithril Company to offer another bonus figure for those having bought the second dozen of MS-releases. I really appreciate this idea of offering a gift to those collectors who continuously support Mithril. (As it was once with the Christmas figures.) I hope that this question does not leave me being regarded as a greedy person I could at once accept a clear "No" to this question as I really can imagine that a lot of work has been piled up on Chris Tubb's desk by now and another figure added will inevitably delay the release of figures that are already decided for (not to mention the regular M-releases). I put this question in public, as I can imagine that there might be some others who would like to get an answer about this matter.

It was a nice gesture to have that bonus figure and I would welcome a 24th bonus figure if it is on the cards (perhaps the subject could be chosen from the most persistant non-winning suggestion ;D), .
I guess though as you say Master Ent, that CT's bench must be getting very busy at the moment so we shall have to wait and see I guess.

Well, I'm just trying to find an answer to that question which only the company can provide. So I'm waiting for Michael's reaction.

Dear Theobald, I would not say that your idea has anything to do with being "greedy". Your thoughts are just logic and me too thinks, that it would be a nice gesture (although Mithril as a company was generous and nice in the past) and 'supporting' the true GF- members, buying almost everything, especially the more expensive GF-vignettes. So do not think you are greedy. Thanks for asking Mithril in the name of many of the GF's. NAMARIE estel

Well, in case I'm not 'greedy' my intention was about being kept informed. And this I try to do in public. Last year I started the thread about a 'Christmas-figure' for 2007. That also was a Mithril-tradition. So Thranduil saw the light in March '07(still not knowing why he's of 32mm size). I clearly do remember the years when in December I opened the parcel from Mithril ... including a Christmas-figure and hand-signed Christmas-cards from the staff. Those days are gone. But it doesn't matter ... as the times they're a-changing.

No answer yet from Mithril .... I will have to keep up my patience ...

Still I'm a bit curious if there are any plans for a second bonus figure as the 24th MS-release was delivered some time ago. Of course I could understand if the answer was "no", as Chris Tubb seems to be very busy for quite some time. I hope this time Michael O'Brian reads this and is able to provide an answer ... Thank you.

Ahem .... I'm sorry, but another year is going to pass soon (for the Fellowship). That's when I usually put this question. Are there any plans for a new "bonus"-figure, Michael ?

Hi Theobald, I have contacted Chris today and asked him about the bonus figure. He is very interested in doing one and I have asked him to look into past suggestions and consider using one of those. This I feel is fair to all fellowship members.

Hi Michael, thank you very much for your answer and for contacting Chris Tubb about this matter. So this is good news and I'm very happy about the result. On the other hand I have to stress that I would have understood if the answer had been 'No' because of the workload being put upon Chris' shoulders. So another (though short time) tradition could be held up by Mithril. Thanks for that to Chris and you. When I said "another tradition" you might guess that I also was thinking about a new Christmas Figure though there's much time left for considering that. Thanks again.

This is most excellent news.
Perhaps an "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" type figure, who keeps being nominated and coming within a shot of winning without actually winning?
Or something more iconic?

Well, here are six of the most often nominated miniatures. Some of them even made it into the final round:
Earnur - last king of Gondor Merry on pony blowing the horn of Rohan Angbor of Lamedon The crowning of Ellessar Aragorn summoning the army of the death Bombur
For more iconic, Galadriel, Gandalf and the Witchking always hold these positions (1, 400, 500, etc). Bilbo sitting on his veranda (just before Gandalf arrived) was also suggested once, iirc.
We should leave the final choice for this one to Chris. Perhaps we might even get another of the great leaders among the animals of Middle Earth :-)

You're absolutely right, Axel. We have to (not: should) leave the decision about the figure to Chris Tubb as this is not a thread for suggestions and voting I'm simply glad that he is able to spend time on that new bonus-figure. This idea of a bonus-figure was meant to increase interest in becoming a member of the Gold Fellowship. That's why I think it should not be forgotten.

... did I really say "it should not be forgotten" ... wishful thinking, meseems .... maybe it doesn't make much sense to produce a figure for only a rare minority of GF-members .... I really do understand that ...

Ahem, it's me again. All of you might understand that it must be me again asking for news about the second bonus-figure. Half a year has passed by now and there have been no more news about this matter. Maybe Michael O'Brian can help, in case he reads this. Let us know, please.

Well due to the delay in the current releases I would base it on the winners from 2008 to 2009. So the first one would be MS498 Dead Rider of Dunharrow. If you collected 12 of those then the bonus figure would be available. I will formalise the arrangements when the figure is actually available. As usual duplicates will not count towards the total.
