Several MS figures were recently sold with ebay. I thought that should be available only for fellowship members.
What do you hold of it them now are publicly accessible?

I'm not the seller, but I think that once you have purchased a Fellowship figure (or MX figure) then you are free to do as you wish, I imagine that is why some collectors buy at least two of each for the investment, and as a nice little earner when the figures gain M16 status. As long as Mithril do not sell outside of the Fellowship and I'm sure that would never be the case, it's not something that causes me any concern personally, I think the edition numbers are limited initially, presumably more would be cast if the Gold Fellowship expanded considerably to cause stocks to sell out. Each to their own as they say, my pleasure is painting for myself, others see it as a way to earn some extra silver to spend at the 'Pony.

I don´t think that the MS- Series is a good investment. Look at the old MS- Series!
M16 was limited with the time (and some problems with the mould). The MS- Series is not limited.

The MS series is limited - there are usually less than 250 miniatures available in a run. And once they are bought out, they are gone.
So when the MS minis are sold out, then they will start (potentially) commanding higher prices on Ebay.
That being said, you should never collect anything because of the possibility it might increase in value. That should be a bonus. Collecting for profit is an inefficient way of making money - and it tends to mess up the market.

Hmm.. If I know it right, Mithril never talks from a limited edition. They only write that they make for the first batch for example 225. Are the MS225 to MS299 a limited edition?
I don´t think so.
In that actually fellowship- system the MS series can´t be limited.
It´s not a question for increase in value. It´s a question if you don´t have the money to buy all the new figurines from Mithril in the same time, then you must find priorities. And the priorities are right if you take now the figurines with the highest prices in the future (like MX) and the others you can buy without problems sometimes later (like MS).
Excuse my bad english

Well the key word that's missing in the Fellowship minis description is "first."
From the King of the Dead description: "Mithril has made a batch of only 250 of these miniatures available to members."
Not first batch, not initial batch, but a batch, and no hint or inkling of a second batch. So while there's nothing to stop Mithril making more batches, right now what you see if what you get. So I suspect that if one of the Fellowship series sold out, that would be the end of it, at least in the near term.
And since Mithril has traditionally only made one "print run" of each figure (excepting the Classics Range), I suspect we shall only see one batch of these minis, ever.

Well, what to answer from my point of view? I am collecting (sic!) Mithrils for about twenty years now ... and still enjoy. So I will continue collecting. First of all I remember all those hours painting them. Then there is the excitement whenever I learn about a new release or a an offer on Ebay , reveiling miniatures I thought went lost. Though being a collector, you might criticize that I even took part in an MX-project. This means a limited number of miniatures being produced. It was not my intention to push up prices - I just wanted to have an idea being realized ... and believe me, I enjoyed it. My collection also is not complete .but I let the Aragorn '88 go. Prices have been pushed much. A 1070,00 (GBP) for a single miniature doesn't make much sense to me.

Hello aelfwine I can´t imagine that, if we have more than 300 members that the new members (in 1 or 2 years) can´t buy MS455 because Mithril sold out all 225 figurines (the "first" batch) and they don´t make new ones. That´s not the idea from the fellowship group.
For example MS226 is from 1992 and you can buy it until now (14 years!)
OK please Michael, help us.
Mithril has made a batch of only 225 of these miniatures available to members.
What does it mean exactly?
