Hi,
I am new to this thread, I used to collect and paint Mithril miniatures in the 90's.
I am curious to understand what has happened to Mithril ove rthe last 2 decades and most importantly if it is possible to order older figures e.g. M01 to M400 etc.
Do the moulds still exist? If so who has the rights to them?
Thanks.
thanks for joining our forum.
1. Mithril always has the rights over their moulds, and still is licensed by Middle-earth enterprises to manufacture collectable metal miniatures based on The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Moulds belonging to the oldest figures (those not on our website as currently produced) are not possible to use again. Usually the moulds are worn out or damaged.
Also Mithril does not remake moulds for these rare figures as it would undermine the rarity of the collectable nature of our products.
The only exceptions to this is the Classic series, which is marked as MC (so the original figures are still rare). The purpose is to allow collectors to have access to important key characters that might not be available otherwise.

If you are missing out on some of the older figures we have some stock left of many of them, check out our rare range.

1.
The Fellowship club has evolved to the
Gold Status Fellowship club. Members now can suggest ideas every month on this forum (password protected section) and vote on the monthly list. The winning idea is produced.
You can see the massive archive of 6 years of ideas for free here.

The Designer Series: When monthly ideas are not a guarantee to getting your idea produced you can commission your idea directly. Some people do this via a group effort (friends or local club of collectors).
While it is a more expensive option than the Fellowship, you can offset the cost very quickly. We sell 100+ (the exact amount is up for discussion) of the final figure to our members and you can gain a commission on their sale which repays the bulk of your original investment quickly, and you can have a selection of the figures to sell, trade or keep yourself as well.
Of course the figure must match our license and we advise it be something that would appeal to our members (so not something too strange or unpopular).
