Sadly Herumor is excluded as he is from the Silmarillion, although I have included a generic figure of a Haradan king instead. Despite Herumor's appearance in one of the ICE modules we cannot make him. ICE had a different dispensation from Tolkien Enterprises than we do , hence their ability to include all the Silmarillion characters in the "Lords of Middle-earth" series. Again I have left out Pallando for similar reasons. On some occasions T. E. have allowed a more liberal interpretation of the licence than they have at other times, but unfortunately this is not the case currently. Tar-Minastir is also questionable and if successful might also have to be released as a generic figure. by Chris Tubb.
Our 13 suggestions will give all members very challenging choices and thanks to the recent software updates on this forum all members can now change their vote if they decide to support a different idea, but ONLY until the vote ends.
NEW FEATURE: Finally we can have a hidden vote, just as many members asked about for years. Thanks to Proboards we now will only show the results of the vote AFTER it closes.
Remember you can only give one vote per member, and you have until 16.00 GMT on April 22nd to submit it so do not delay.
Now that the vote results are hidden it will make the vote a lot more accurate. No last minute voting should occur as it would be pointless.
If you have any questions please contact me.
This is your chance to campaign for your favourite choice. Add images or quotes from the books to encourage other members to support you.

Me too (unsurprisingly), though the selection of alternatives is certainly good this month, and there are at least six others that I'd be equally happy to see win.

This is as exciting as trying to guess what the last MX figure was going to be!
Good effort Mithril, but I guess it will take some getting used to.

Michael, could you describe this new approach in more detail?
I think it is a great idea to have the first round of voting for the Monthly figure confidential. But I hope the second round remains a choice between the most popular suggestions from the first round of voting.
That will allow people to still vote first for their own suggestion, and then pick between the best of the suggestions that survive the first round.

MA GOVANNEN MELLON, good idea to hide the vote results, but it could lead to nail-biting as this is more suspense- packed as a thriller-movie. ;D And thanks for the ANCIENT HARAD KING, well the GF's should know what it is

I personally don't like the new voting system, even if I'm usually one of the "early birds" (just not to forget to vote). I hope that the second round is open! And a question to Michael: Is it possible to show the present status of the votes to all how have already voted? This could prevent estel from nail-biting ;-) and will satisfy my curiosity. Alex

It's the nail-biting that's bad for the health having been there a couple of times now. it can't be good for the heart the older we get, lol.

Yeah let's see what happens now: a bit like being in middle-earth - exploring a dark tunnel under the mountains without knowing if there is a bunch of goblins, a happy dwarf party or even the balrog is waiting at the end... at least the end of last minute votes like at ebay's as Mike already points out... and no more random looking how's it developing.... I think it will be like this 1 round voting hidden , then quotes released , 2-4 suggestions with most votes going in second round, voting hidden again and then honestly: BIG SURPRISE WINNER!!!! But do we make BIG SECRETS what we are voting for now also? LOL

Michael, I ask a question here as opposed to a private message because I know others have the same question: What if the confidential voting causes a lack of visit to and comments posted about the choices in the Forum? Initially when you announced that the vote this month was going to be confidential I thought that it would be a great way for us to vote for who we REALLY liked best. But I know for myself that I often visited the Forum during the voting to see who was winning--and that naturally led me to read the comments, and often leave my own. This is true for other members as well. Now I wonder if members will visit as often? Perhaps we will, just to read each other's post and leave our own. It is a risk, though, that members lose some interest, and I suggest that you monitor the number of visits and posts of the members, and reverse course if those numbers drop off. And still, there are the questions about the format of the second round of voting. --twrich By the way, this is the tenth post on this voting round (not including ddaine's stutter) and only one of the choices for our vote has been mentioned so far!

I am not keeping my choice a secret, it is the orc. I am casting this vote from SALUTE where I spoke with Chris T.

Celebrian, consort of Elrond, the best choice so far!!! Number 3 mentioned! Hopefully to be the number 1 at the end!

As my post count indicates I am not inclined to post on forums. I would however like to support the new blind voting system. I like the illusion that my vote can count even though it may be for a relatively unpopular choice.

Since people are giving views on the new voting system, my own view is that it's uninteresting, teetering on the edge of boring! Personally I can't see anything 'nail-biting' about it at all - since we have no idea how the voting pattern looks, what is there to be anxious about? It's about as exciting as watching scrumpy ferment (believe me, I know what I'm talking about).
Now, let me don my 'devil's advocate' hat. It seems to me that by voting this way we're potentially being deprived of the opportunity to vote for figures that stand any chance of winning. For instance, there might be six figures with a reasonable number of votes to their credit, and another ten or so with only one or two (or zero!) votes. With the old system, you could see that and know that a vote for one of the latter category would be utterly wasted, and therefore you could vote instead for your favourite of the 'top' half-dozen, knowing that you had some chance of influencing the outcome. (I assume this is the 'tactical voting' that some people have referred to.)
However, what we now have instead is a system in which a dozen or more figures may each pick up no more than five or six votes, and yet might still win! Hmmm. I'm not sure that's a good thing.
Obviously, there's no perfect system that's going to appeal to everyone, but I'm unconvinced that this is the right solution to the problem (if there is a problem). How many people actually disliked the old system of voting, I wonder? And how many people like the new one? It would be interesting to know.
(Takes off advocate's hat). OK, I'm going back to the Pony if anyone needs a drink.

Well, not to beat around the bush; I understand why Mithril and some members want to have a confidential vote. OK, lets try it, but lets keep the second round open for all to see. And if the interest in the Forum declines, hopefully Mithril will notice.

Please post any further comments on the voting system to the new thread/vote I set up on the Fellowship board. You have about 1 week to give me your opinion on it. All votes will be blind but as soon as you vote you shall see the results (current not final). Vote ends in 8 days.
SECOND ROUND IS NOT SECRET (BLIND). It will be the same format as we have always used. I will decide on the future format of voting after the other vote has expired.

You have the power to alter the course of production.

Open or blind, the result should be the same. Let us all vote for our favorite characters regardless of their popularity in the forum.
