Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, NO Mounted options will apply. Examples of past single figures include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth hunter. Due to the increased workload on Chris, he has asked that we accept only single figure suggestions. I know it will disappoint some members but what is the point in winning the vote if the figures never get made and Chris is trying to work on general releases as well. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 19th of March (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 18th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

My Idea For This Month Is:
Northman Healer
The Northman healer is a companion piece to M92 (the Woodmen Animist). The healer is a woman of the north, tall, long haired and stern, with flowing red hair, bound in a gold clasp at her neck. She wears a finely woven dress (or perhaps a long tunic over suede leggings) and sensible boots.
Her hands are held at her side, though she is just about to reach out to help someone.

TARGON, Keeper of the Butteries of Minas Tirith (RotK - Minas Tirith) This character gets one mention as far as I am aware when Beregond and Pippin scrounge some apples, cheese, bread, butter and a leather flagon of new-drawn ale. I see a simple figure carrying the platters of food with the flagon of ale hanging over his arm. Not much use as a wargame figure, but a nice study of a man of Gondor.

IDEA TITLE: SAURON, The WEREWOLFSauron was a shape shifter and at one time possessed the ability to transform himself into such creatures as a vampire bat or wolf. Of course, these creatures were much larger and more powerful than normal. Sauron as a huge werewolf would make for an interesting piece. As Mithril has already produced some werewolves and wargs, it would make sense to release a more formidable wolf piece to serve as their master. Plus, depending on its overall appearance, a super wolf could be used as other characters such as Draugluin, Lord of the Werewolves, or Carcharoth, Guardian of the Gates of Angband. Unfortunately, the latter two are Silmarillion based and do not qualify. On the other hand, Sauron, The Werewolf, would provide collectors with three possibilities rolled into one! Description: Rather than the large, bipedal werewolf type, I was thinking more along the lines of a huge burly wolf on all fours wearing a hideous sneer. To differentiate him from all others, his torso could be ornately armored, or maybe just a thick iron collar emblazoned with The Great Eye! Here's an even crazier idea: How about a werewolf with only one eye? A kind of black, hairless, demonic, cyclopian werewolf!

Mae govannen, Inspiring sugesstions until now. It's time for something evil, I think and I will try my suggestion of last month: [glow=red,2,300]Black Numenorean captain of Minas Morgul[/glow]I would be very interested in how Chris would make the figure look like. Maybe with some stones of the mountains of Mordor on the base of the figure (or even some of this deadly flowers of Minas Morgul?), a man crying out orders to his men, maybe with shield and spear and a cape. It should be an officer of Morgul of some elite mannish warrior, the ones the witch king trusts most. I would like to see one day a complete Morgul host on the march done by Mithril and that could be the beginning of it. Not only Orcs and Uruk-Hai, but also men of Numenorean blood, horsemen, and elite heavy infantry. Like the Hill-men, this is one of the few races of men, Chris has never designed a figure of (except the Mouth of Sauron, which is a special character and some ringwraith). This is also a way to get a figure of one of those named black Numenorean lords only mentioned in the Silmarillon or in the Lotr annals, which Mithril is not allowed to use for their figure creations. I'd like to suggest my sidekick at the Prancing Pony
BOB THE OSTLER
He could be represented leaning on his spade ready to start shovelling manure, since it's what he does most of the time.
Actually, he needs to be produced in 'scratch-and-sniff' form if you want to really appreciate him... The addition of his cat rubbing against his knees would be a nice touch. (Bob's cat is also noted for his, er, interesting aroma, and I wouldn't recommend that you stroke him just before you eat your bar meal, that's for sure).

Very nice Master Barliman! I like Bob and his cat, but I wouldn't shake Bob's hand eighter before I eat my meal!

mmmh, should I really do that? Taking part on this suggestion-swamp? Well, I currently work on a Rohan-Diorama and there are really rohan archers missing. There seems to be only ONE. So everybody can imagine by now, that my suggestion will be a [glow=red,2,300]ROHAN ARCHER[/glow] With a leather helmet, maybe hooded, and with a long-bow of course. This was my first post here and I hope it won´t be my last

My suggestion:
Dorwinion wine trader
still missing in the mithril range and to go with lake town miniatures or the halls of the Elven-King miniatures from the Hobbit
Remember: If the Elves hadn't that favour for good Dorwinion wines, Galion the butler and the captain of the elven guard whould not have got drunk and felt asleep, so Bilbo whouldn't had the chance to burgle the keys, unlock Thorin's Company and free the 13 Dwarves by putting them into barrels!
DORWINION ("Wineland") This area of middle earth, located east of Mirkwood, where the running river meets the River Carnen, and the plains of Rhun is a very vertile landscape. The people are the trading companions to Laketown, Erebor the Realm of the Elvenking and even Gondor in the south. The best wines of middle earth come from this area.
So the well-shaped trader should be dressed in rich garments, holding a embroidered cup of wine for tasting in one hand and maybe a flagon/bottle or a purse/moneybag in the other hand. He also should have some bags for further trade goods.
cheers, HWolf

Well, a single figure, not a mounted figure and it must be a new suggestion .... right? With this, I know, I will somehow exceed those restrictions in mind but will strictly keep to the rules. That's why I suggest: The Watcher(s) at Cirith Ungol Let me quote, please (book 6; chapter 1): "They were like great figures seated upon thrones. Each had three jointed bodies and three heads facing outward, and inward, and across the gateway. The heads had vulture-faces and on their great knees were laid clawlike hands." You can also find an interpretation of those beasts in the 'Reader's Companion' by W.C Hammond and C. Scull. Tolkien's diagrammatic sketch of the Two Watchers is reproduced in "The Treason of Isengard" (p.348). Let me explain, please: I always liked those dragons sculpted by Chris Tubb very much. I think they're simply brilliant. The last one we had was the 'Cold Drake' and that was quite some time ago. I am aware of the work-load being heaped upon Chris' table so I do not expect this idea being realized immediately within half a year or so ... in case this suggestion finds all your acceptance. I just want to break through some restrictions, rules, etc. No offence, Michael, not at all Oh by the way I used the plural (Watchers) as with this you can have two figures as they're identical in shape and appearance. You only have to buy two

Afaik the watcher was already rejected when it was suggested some years back, because Chris had pondered the mini and decided it would be a lot of work. I assume if you want a suggestion running, you should decide for another way. Not that I would not be overjoyed if it would be accepted and made :-)
Still undecided here. A dwarf just won, so another will be wasted this month. Still tempted, for Dain fighting aside Brand, or Bombur, or Gimli at the council. Perhaps Erestor at the council - a long overdue missing named character, or Boromir lying in the boat. That one would just be lacking the boat. Sharkey needs his companion. Or Lobelia, at the time of her release. Sam, as mayor. A soldier of Arnor, standing watch at Amon Sul. The "master of the keys" of the dungeons of Barad Dur. A merchant of the Wainriders. A Numerorean Lady of the Court. Or... well, as stated before, still undecided for this month...

I was also thinking of suggesting The Watchers. It's definitely an interesting piece. It's a kind of living gate-post designed to bar the enemy through a narrow passage known as Cirith Ungol. It would look fantastic near any significant gate, castle, fortress, etc. However, as another member pointed out, being triple-faced and triple-bodied, it would be challenging to sculpt. On the other hand, if dragons, eagles, and balrogs are possible, why not The Watchers? Good idea! ;D

I will not be suggesting anything this month. Not because I couldn't think of a new figure to suggest, but because I like two of the suggestions that have already been listed. The Werewolf by Grond and the Moria Orc blowing horn by gilgaladtolkien.

You just a good ol' boy Shadyt! And if gilgaladtolkien's horn-blowing orc were selected, that would be A-OK by me. Goblins of any kind are always welcome. You know, I was elated when Grishnakh of Barad-dur finally made his debut. Chris gave him so much personality. Anyway, thank you for the thumbs up!

Lots of good ideas, both old and new.
But I suggest [glow=red,2,300]TED SANDYMAN![/glow] He's one of few remaining named characters that Chris has yet to sculpt.

Well, since the originality gaunlet has (or perhaps not) been thrown, I suggest:
[glow=red,2,300]Master Samwise cooking over a small camp fire.[/glow]
Perhaps some stewed rabbit, perhaps not. I don't think I need to cite any quotes.
Edit: Ok, it's not original. Just a modification of Ddaines idea.

Me too have suggested a watcher of Cirith Ungol once and it was deleted by mistake it for the watcher in the water at the West Gate of Moria I also like the idea but in a single miniature month it is definetly too big because it sits on a Throne. (My opinion)
Folks keep in mind that the single figure months is for Chris Tubb to keep up. The more regular the suggestions are at the moment, the sooner we will have maybe a vignette or mounted figure suggestion month again.
Cheers

This month I will not be suggesting any new topics, for there are some good ideas laid last month that I'd like to see approved -so that I'll be probably voting any of these in the end.
Instead, I'd wish to publicly explain you a persistent idea I've been dealing with lately: in my oppinion, it would be great to start a whole, complete series on Middle-Earth fauna. True that some particularly remarkable beasts have already been added to Mithril's catalogue, such as Giant Eagles, Wargs and Bears. As for the rest of animal species, however, the collector/gamer is always constrained to fulfill his collection with conventional animals' miniatures provided by makes other than Mithril. Maybe we shouldn't miss the opportunity to populate Middle-Earth wilderness and skies with some animals, having in mind that it could be produced a range with a look slightly different from contemporary Eurasian animals (I imagine Middle-Earth animals as quite similar to these, but somehow different, as Pleistocene fauna was: some bigger, others archaic-looking, etc).
I suspect this is not the best thread to talk it about, so better stopping here. I'd be grateful if suggested a better place to start discussion on this topics.

I would like to suggest a Ranger Scout for this month's entry. He would be dressed in a hooded cloak performing a recon ahead of his mates. I can see him armed with both sword and bow and in a crouching position so as to not give away his position. He is intently listening to the sounds about him trying to establish if there is any danger lurking nearby. I would also like to wish all my Fellowship friends, Chris, and Michael and the staff a Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Well, if its too late then let this drop.
Otherwise I would like to throw in an Easterling warrior, grim, battlehardened, asking for no quarter, in the last phase of the battle of the Pelennor. He is standing, defiant but already doomed, sword, shield and armour battleworn, taunting the forces of Gondor to come and claim his life.
