Welcome to another exciting chance to add your ideas and dreams to Mithril's LOTR miniatures. Post your suggestions here. ONE per member. This is a single figure month, NO Mounted options will apply. Examples of past single figures include the King of the Dead and the Lossoth hunter. The only other restriction is that the figures MUST conform to our license, so NO Silmarillion based characters are allowed. They have to be in the Hobbit or LOTR books. The final say is ours and no arguement will be allowed. Ask if you are worried about its eligiability. Please submit ideas in the following format ONLY: IDEA TITLE "this is why I think 'Idea Title' is a good idea for this month..." Make the title stand out (within reason) and separate from any supportive text by a paragragh. This will prevent Chris accidently overlooking it when he compiles the voting list later on. Otherwise it could be mistaken as a comment not a new suggestion. Please add some quotes about where it is mentioned or give descriptions to promote your suggestion. Even add a picture or submit it to me to add to the gallery page. If you drum up support NOW, the you have a much better chance when it is time to vote. Voting will begin on the 17th of September (first round). We stop taking suggestions at 16.00 GMT on the 16th. You may add comments about other members suggestions as well. If you post any suggestions elsewhere it may not be seen or credited. Please post any suggestions in English. (That is all I can respond in, sorry). If you have any questions then post in the other thread provided for such questions. GO TO GALLERY PAGE: www.mithril.ie/Fellowship/gallery.html

Black Huorn Mentioned in The Two Towers p.245 When Treebeard is speaking to Gandalf about Saruman "His Heart is as rotten as a black Hourn's" I picture him more gnarled and twisted than other Huorns. Larger also if that can be managed.

In order to control the Black Huorn we need a shepherd: Beechbone, the Ent ;D

throw in suggestion again, of course:
TOM BOMBADIL with the ONE RING
From Lord of the Rings Book 1 "In the House of Tom Bombadil":
Tom Bombadil took the 4 Hobbits to his house after the rescue from old man willow While the talking by the fireside there was this breathtaking key scene when Tom Bombadíl asked Frodo to show him the One Ring, got it from the Hobbit held it before his eye, put it on his finger and DID NOT become invisible... Then he flung the Ring into the air, and the Ring vanished in a flash...
He is.
As Frodo got the Ring back, he was suspicious and put on the Ring to try, and the Hobbit became invisible... wasn't seen by his Hobbit fellows but he was seen by Tom Bombadil even so!...
I imagine Tom as single miniature standing with the Precious between his fingers holding it in front of his bright blue eye (paint job) or even on his little Finger, He should not be to slender, the fellowship miniature MS297 of Tom with the badgers is superb.
Cheers, Hwolf

The Orc Captain of Moria You know, the chap that charges in the Chamber of Marzabul with his spear and skewers Frodo (or thinks he has!). A large, mailed orc with helm and hide shield, possibly a cloak, and not forgetting his great spear and scimitar in its sheaf at his side. Not sure if a thrusting or throwing stance (for other use), but a concentrated, wild look on his face just before his head gets cloved in two! ;D

LUGDUSH, Uruk of Isengard
Most Orcs made by Mithril carry the axe, curved sword, spear, or bow. Well, how about one with a nice big flail?
Taller and broader than the Orcs from Mordor, I see an Uruk from Isengard named Lugdush swinging a heavy chain above his head, an orbiting spike-covered ball attached to the end of it. Lugdush uses both arms to wield it. The base of the chain is clenched tightly in his left fist, just above the waist. Lugdush extends the chain upward and wraps it around his right forearm, which is raised above his head, while his right hand twirls the end of the chain and steel ball. Lugdush and his companions are surrounded by Rohan on horseback. The Orcs know their days are numbered, but they howl and grunt with the anticipation of battle. I see Ugluk too, barking orders, while, off in the distance, Mauhur and his boys charge forward to link up with their doomed allies.
Lugdush was part of Ugluk's raiding party across Northern Rohan. The raid was partially successful and had reached the edges of Fangorn before being caught by the Riders of Rohan. Lugdush and the other Uruk-hai remained disciplined to the end.

[glow=red,2,300] Haldir/ Rumil/Orophin guardian of Lorien [/glow] But as there is just ONE figure to suggest, I would ask, why not producing one figure, but with the possibility to change head and/or the weapon? Many of the older MITHRIL figures had been multiple parts minis, some with the chance to put the weapon or staff in the hands of the miniature. And as these Elves are brothers, they could have some similar look? And so we can have Haldir AND Rumil AND Orophin, also there is just ONE Figure suggested. Hope Chris will like the idea To be fair: the suggestion of Haldir must be of Wendys origin. P.S.: I like the ideas of the Orcs very much and still hope to see one day a complete set of Orc heroes of Middle Earth. Such a set surely would be very popular as Orcs are popular, too!

I rather like Estel's idea. It's an idea whose time has come

HURIN THE TALL Warden of the Keys
Another named LOTR who has yet to be represented in the Mithril range - and in fact the only named Gondorian government official in the entire book other than the family of Denethor. Ideally we should have mounted model of him as he was at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, but as this is another single-figure month he could be represented instead on foot, as when he accompanied Faramir to meet Aragorn outside Minas Tirith at the coming of the king (ROTK p.245). I envisage him in mail and surcoat with a huge bunch of keys hanging at his belt and a sword at his side, and with his helmet tucked in the crook of his arm. (Would this have been one of the citadel winged types, I wonder?) And of course, he should be tall!

(I just hope this does not create licence problem due to the fact it is a synonym of Hurin... father of Turin... in the Silmarillion)

I don't possibly see how it can. Hurin the Tall, Warden of the Keys, is a character in LOTR, not the Silmarillion.

Once again,
[glow=red,2,300]The Bearer of the Red Arrow.[/glow]
I see this Gondorian on bended knee (before King Theoden) with head bowed, presenting the black arrow with a red tip, thus requesting the aid of Rohan. He would be clad in riding leathers, and rather ragged after such a long ride.
Here is an important piece of the LOTR that is not represented in any way in the Mithril line.
